Cursebreaker | 17 - The Fountain of Magic Magic Magic

It's time. After stashing some stolen animals and visiting the money lenderer, we finally make it to the fountain of magic.
Tim / GM:

Last time on Cursebreaker. Just when it seemed everything was going according to plan, a brawl breaks out between the party and Frankie Fizzle. After a few chaotic moments of monkeys, shape shifting, and a lot of grease, the fight came to a sobering conclusion as Snack used a wand to disintegrate their target. But it wasn't Frankie Fizzle. A conniving gnome named Jinx, master Polymorpher, had taken his place while coordinating with judge Tonberry.

Tim / GM:

As punishment for his crime, the party cut him off from magic permanently. Now that's what I call justice! When we were last around this table, you had all, brought Jinx to the guild house, and Jinx was that polymorfin gnome. At the guild house, you got Margo Bingo involved who got Benjamin Blanc involved. You tattooed Jinx in a way that cut him off from using magic ever again.

Tim / GM:

One thing we did not clear up, where is his tattoo?

Maggie / Poppy:

On his belly button.

Tim / GM:

On his belly button? Okay.

Speaker 3:

Like one of those the rings around it. Yeah.

Maggie / Poppy:

The ring is around his belly button.

Tim / GM:

That's perfect.

Maggie / Poppy:

Wait. Is it an an an an an an an an an outie?

Speaker 4:

Roll for it. 1 is 1 is innie. K. Squid is outie. K.

Speaker 4:

Squid? Audi it is.

Tim / GM:

He had to get tattooed on his Audi.

Thomas / Guy:

If you

Maggie / Poppy:

have an Audi, we love you still. Thanks for being thanks for listening. We're inclusive to all belly buttons here. We

Speaker 3:

are. Yeah.

Tim / GM:

In addition to excommunicating, Jinx from his magic, Bert was able also to force him to confess, the names of people who are involved with this racket. So you know for sure now, judge Tonberry is at the very top of all of this.

Maggie / Poppy:

So I know we have a lot going on right now. You know, Bert's trial, your Olympic games, Uli. Mhmm. And Bert, I don't know how soon you can get us into that librarian because I'd go right now.

Thomas / Guy:

I think it's better if we go tomorrow. It's awfully late.

Maggie / Poppy:

We also also look like we've been out partying at the clubs till bar close and, like, our mascara is running down our faces

Tim / GM:

and Holly, you've been carrying your shoes for, like, the last couple hours. Yeah.

Speaker 3:

What do you think might happen to me for casting magic? I don't have a stamp.

Speaker 6:

Oh. Hold on. You sound different again.

Speaker 3:

What do you mean?

Speaker 6:

You sound back to your old self.

Speaker 3:

I've been me the whole time. You guys need to drop it. I've been me the whole time.

Speaker 6:

But you sound different.

Maggie / Poppy:

Yeah. You sound kinda like, angry Uly.

Speaker 3:

There's an angry Uly? I'm just Uly. I've been Uly. God.

Thomas / Guy:

Was this about your sister or something?

Speaker 3:

Is she in the room still?

Speaker 7:

No. She just left.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. She she was sent out to go round up the animals that were loosed back at the bar so that you guys could, yeah, get the survivors together.

Speaker 7:

I would like to interrogate the animals and see what information we may gather.

Maggie / Poppy:

But you can't speak with these chameleons here. And Holly holds up both of the chameleons from their eating cookies at the cookie table together.

Speaker 7:

Snack looks at both of them.

Tim / GM:

Normally, animals are actually quite eloquent, in their own languages, which you typically understand. However, it seems something was lost in translation with these polymorphed creatures that used to be humans. When they look at you, most of the time, they say something like, I or eat.

Speaker 7:

I look at one on the left and pull out some, crumbly bacon pieces. What is your name, creature?

Tim / GM:

When you get it close, it, its tongue kind of hangs out of its mouth for a second, and then the little pink tongue just, like, lashes out towards your fingers and snaps up a bacon chip.

Speaker 7:

I pull it away. Your name, creature.

Maggie / Poppy:

Contested grapple. No.

Speaker 6:

I'm scared.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. It misses the chip and then gives, like kinda like turns its head fully so that it's one of its big eyes is focused on you. It says

Speaker 7:

name. Yes. Your name.

Thomas / Guy:

Is this how it usually goes, Nick?

Speaker 7:

No. I think it is a very dumb lizard.

Maggie / Poppy:

Alright. Enough of this. And Holly puts both of the chameleons in each one of her apron pockets or her dress pockets.

Tim / GM:

It's Snack as as she's kinda taking the chameleons away and you hear, Holly. What?

Speaker 7:

Holly. Did you know someone named Holly before?

Maggie / Poppy:

No. I'm the only Holly.

Speaker 7:

I go in and try to reach and grab that lizard from her pocket.

Tim / GM:

Alright. Snacks digging in your pockets. What do you

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly, like, covers it with her hand and tries to spin her hip away and, like, kinda push him with her foot a little bit.

Speaker 8:

Like spoke to me. It said your name. Bad. Bad boy. It said your name.

Maggie / Poppy:

Bad. Like Do

Speaker 7:

you not want to hear from your sister? I It knows your name, Holly. Unless it knows another Holly. Did your sister have a favorite Holly besides you?

Maggie / Poppy:

I don't think so.

Speaker 7:

It talked to me. It told me it's it told me Holly. It said your name.

Speaker 6:

Really?

Tim / GM:

Yes.

Maggie / Poppy:

She, like, holds the chameleon up to her and gives it a little hug.

Speaker 7:

I go up and try to give it a piece of bacon.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. It it, like, opens its mouth wide and just kinda, like, crunches its side long.

Speaker 7:

I point at Holly and I in beast speech, Holly, and then I point at it, who?

Tim / GM:

The chameleon looks back up at Holly and says,

Speaker 7:

fine. I skip her off.

Tim / GM:

That's probably it for this night.

Speaker 4:

Next day.

Tim / GM:

Next day. On curse breaker. The next morning, is seemingly without disaster so far.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly is up at the krakaton making breakfast for everyone again and just cooking around the kitchen. She, you all get the impression she's really quiet this morning and that she just likes to stay busy.

Speaker 7:

Snek is reliving the, disintegration wand moment and is jumping on the couch and pointing it at things.

Tim / GM:

The actual disintegration wand.

Speaker 7:

Yeah. Jesus. Zap.

Speaker 4:

Tibio did not sleep. Not well. Tibio slept just enough to get all his spell slots back.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. Okay.

Tim / GM:

Perfect. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

And is not really pacing, but like wandering, and is waiting for everyone else to get up because he doesn't wanna intrude on their sleep and their rest, but he's very restless.

Tim / GM:

Mhmm.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh, did everyone else, sleep like garbage last night?

Speaker 6:

Yes. I slept very badly. I think that we should get started right away. We need to go see the judge, Malporeau, and tell him what is going on. We we can't wait any longer.

Thomas / Guy:

Alright. If we head to librarian first,

Speaker 8:

there's Yeah.

Maggie / Poppy:

That sounds good. That's where I need to go.

Thomas / Guy:

Something I gotta do, we might be able to, get in with Marlborough, and then, we can turn up that fountain.

Maggie / Poppy:

I mean, is it just as easy as walking into this fountain? I just feel like something like this is probably more protected. Right?

Thomas / Guy:

Well, we'll need, we'll need to make a payment to get in. And, I guess it's not purely official, but, it's a little better if you're accompanied by a member of the librarian like me.

Maggie / Poppy:

How much is the payment?

Thomas / Guy:

Kind of varies on how they're feeling. Snack, you've got all those, all those bars. It's best to maybe not let on how much money we got.

Speaker 7:

So I should count them here, you say.

Thomas / Guy:

Did we not count them yet?

Speaker 7:

I can't remember. It was a very big number.

Speaker 3:

So moving those, sell them?

Maggie / Poppy:

I know a money changer that could help us. They're connected to the guild. Okay.

Speaker 3:

I feel like I should lay low.

Thomas / Guy:

So his snack is also maybe in hot water. He got the mark, but he did kill that bird.

Speaker 7:

The bird was a trespasser, was it not? Was it did the bird have a stamp? I think no.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, you don't need a stamp to not get killed by people in the city, but, just one of those kinda unwritten rules, you know?

Speaker 7:

Don't kill birds.

Speaker 6:

Snack, if you see another raven, please don't kill it and please let me know.

Speaker 7:

I see, Tibio.

Speaker 6:

I'm not going to kill the bird.

Speaker 3:

How about we just don't kill anything for a while?

Speaker 7:

Reinvigorate the experience. Yes.

Speaker 3:

Yes. Like, you don't fish everything out of a lake. Right? You let things go.

Speaker 4:

Tibio is getting into a skeleton, getting ready to go.

Tim / GM:

As you're all sort of, stacking your plates up on the counter and getting ready to leave, you guys hear a a sudden knock at the door, and it's frantic.

Speaker 8:

It's the cops.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly goes to the door and opens it.

Tim / GM:

As soon as you open the door, you see, Ilya standing there, and she is pulling a giant wagon that is covered with a tarp. She says, what's the plan? What do you want me to do with these?

Speaker 6:

Holy shit. Basement.

Maggie / Poppy:

Oh, no. It's the animals?

Tim / GM:

That fire genasi is on my ass.

Maggie / Poppy:

Oh, my god. Yeah. Just, unload them into my house, I guess.

Speaker 3:

We can put them in your work room. Okay.

Tim / GM:

She looks at the wagon and looks into your house, and she goes, okay.

Speaker 3:

It's your basement. I'll start helping.

Tim / GM:

She, like, lifts the tarp a little bit, and she takes a cage with a monkey in it and just throws it to you, Uli.

Maggie / Poppy:

Okay. Let's, fireman this down the here.

Tim / GM:

You load a whole menagerie of animals into the basement. Monkeys, macaws, and a single chameleon.

Speaker 4:

No. I'm on a chameleon was

Maggie / Poppy:

we've actually used like chamele

Tim / GM:

Oh, yeah. I mean, is that one gonna stay out of cages forever?

Maggie / Poppy:

Yeah. The chameleon can be out of the cage.

Thomas / Guy:

Okay.

Maggie / Poppy:

I only wanna bring my sister chameleon with me.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Leave the other

Thomas / Guy:

one here.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Okay.

Speaker 7:

So yeah.

Tim / GM:

Now you got a ton of animals in the basement.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly, gives them all a little bit of leftover pancakes.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Yeah. I think they appreciate that. They probably don't eat very well.

Speaker 3:

Did you lead the fire genasi here? Does he know?

Tim / GM:

She shakes her head no. No. No. I I managed to lose him, but he's gonna figure it out sooner or later than I'm the one who left with all these.

Speaker 3:

So you need to get out of town.

Tim / GM:

That's also gonna be complicated. And she shows you the, the stamp that she has on her arm?

Speaker 3:

Right. Foolish. Taking a stamp that controls your power. Well, I can't help you. Sorry.

Tim / GM:

She kind of throws up her eyebrows and, like, wow. Like, thanks a lot kind of gesture. You can still see her hand, and then you see the tattoo on her hand flash a glint of blue. She's like, I just I don't know what and she disappears.

Maggie / Poppy:

Shit. Oh, no. She got called into the courts.

Speaker 6:

If she was summoned by judge Dunbarry, she may be in very big trouble. We need to see the other judge immediately.

Maggie / Poppy:

Before she leaves, Holly grabs a couple of vials that are empty, from her workroom. She probably grabs, I don't know, like, 10 vials, enough for the animals because she wants her plan is to bring back water from the fountain.

Thomas / Guy:

Alright. Let's have a little.

Speaker 4:

Let's go to the la la la la.

Maggie / Poppy:

We all just, like, stared at Tara as she did that. Where are we going? Let's go to town.

Speaker 6:

Can you make

Speaker 4:

me repeat myself?

Maggie / Poppy:

No. No. No. Librarian.

Speaker 3:

The 4 l's.

Thomas / Guy:

Let's go to the librarian.

Maggie / Poppy:

We make a pit stop at the money lenders on the way.

Tim / GM:

So actually, as you're going to leave Holly's place, Holly, you'd you'd step back in just for a second. You guys take another 5 minutes or so here as you gather up some things. As you're leaving, Ilya reappears. Oh. Holly, you're upstairs when it happens, but you just hear a thud.

Tim / GM:

Those of you downstairs, you can see Ilya laying on the floor, motionless, with a trickle of blood racing away from her body.

Speaker 3:

Ilya, and I drop. And I, like, pat I don't I don't know. Is she alive? Madison, Jack. Can't see it?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. She's dying. She's

Speaker 3:

do something. Please do something.

Thomas / Guy:

I'll, heal up as I can.

Speaker 4:

Is that healing word?

Thomas / Guy:

Yep.

Tim / GM:

And what's the healing word?

Thomas / Guy:

Hello? Hello? Oopsie doopsie.

Speaker 8:

Oopsie doopsie.

Thomas / Guy:

6 HP.

Speaker 4:

Okay. No. Nothing.

Tim / GM:

You hear her kind of inhale and then choke on something, and then she kind of, just does a couple of rapid coughs like she was choking and you and she spatters out a bit of blood on the floor. But then she kind of, like, comes to herself and is staring at Uli.

Speaker 3:

Are you are you okay? What, I what happened? What do I do?

Tim / GM:

She kind of like sits up and is just like holding her head. It's pounding.

Speaker 3:

Your your what? Your head?

Tim / GM:

She shows you this this, rapidly swelling wound that she's got on the back of her head. She said pair of dwarves.

Speaker 3:

The the dwarves that you your friends, those ones? They finally got me. What it did they just hate you? Is this magical? What do are you dying?

Tim / GM:

Not anymore. I think

Speaker 8:

Wait. Who do the doors work for? Tonberry.

Maggie / Poppy:

Oh, no.

Tim / GM:

I thought they were my allies, but they were there to watch me.

Thomas / Guy:

So they brought you in the court and roughed you up?

Tim / GM:

Yeah.

Speaker 6:

Who summoned you?

Tim / GM:

I think it was Tonberry. I only saw the dwarves.

Thomas / Guy:

Were all the judges there?

Tim / GM:

It was dark. I was I was in the middle. You know what I mean? At the stand. You can't see anybody when you're at the stand.

Speaker 6:

What did they say?

Tim / GM:

They said to kill me.

Speaker 3:

Oh, good. That's cool. Cool. Yeah. Can should we chop your hand off?

Speaker 3:

I don't like the tattoo. That's why that's why they're doing this. Right?

Speaker 6:

Right.

Tim / GM:

Well, that's how they're doing it. Yeah.

Thomas / Guy:

I think if they sent her back, she's probably safe for now. But

Speaker 3:

Also, I'm barely keeping it together, so I'm just rolling surge checks.

Tim / GM:

So, yeah, I think at this moment, Uli, he probably would just surge. Hopefully, not for the worst.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. Let's Grease.

Maggie / Poppy:

Don't you dare cast grease on my house.

Tim / GM:

You only got a bunch of animals

Speaker 4:

in the mix. Never be able to get it out. Oh my god.

Maggie / Poppy:

Being the upholstery.

Speaker 8:

All the puffs.

Speaker 3:

An eye appears on your forehead for the next minute. During that time, you have advantage advantage on wisdom perception checks that rely on sight.

Maggie / Poppy:

Oh. You're the crow now. Yeah. Just kidding.

Tim / GM:

Lily, your your your mind is reeling trying to think of ways that you can get to Tonberry or make this nightmare stop, knowing that the rest of your friends are kind of at the same risk being able to be summoned. And, everybody can see your eyes like darting around the room, just trying to think. And you keep, like, holding your hands to your head. And when you take them down, there's another eye in the middle of your forehead that's also panically darting around the room.

Speaker 3:

Can I make a procession check?

Thomas / Guy:

That's new.

Tim / GM:

Sure. With the bandage. Yeah.

Speaker 3:

A natural twenty.

Tim / GM:

There you go. Okay. You can see that Ilya is deeply concerned for you, even though she was moments away from death. And you can see, out the window across the street on the eaves of a roof is a raven.

Speaker 3:

Bird. There's a bird. In the house? Bird. No.

Speaker 3:

Outside bird. I'm, like, rocking on the floor, like, pulling out my hair because I am stressed.

Speaker 6:

Uli, where is your tankard?

Speaker 3:

My room, probably

Speaker 4:

I go grab the tankard and bring it to her.

Tim / GM:

Pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop. And

Speaker 3:

then clack

Speaker 8:

clack clack clack clack

Thomas / Guy:

clack clack

Speaker 8:

clack clack clack clack clack clack clack. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 7:

Tibio, you told me to tell you when there is a bird. Udi speaks of 1.

Speaker 6:

Thank you, Snack.

Speaker 7:

Yes.

Speaker 6:

Yes. I I got the message. I appreciate it.

Tim / GM:

You are welcome.

Speaker 3:

There's a bird outside staring at us.

Speaker 6:

I will I will go take care of this bird. If Ilya is okay, we must go. We must find judge Malporo and

Thomas / Guy:

Can we get someone to watch, Julia? I just don't feel great leaving her alone.

Maggie / Poppy:

Do you think you'll be okay with just some water and some leftover pancakes for a little bit?

Tim / GM:

If they think I'm dead, I don't think they're gonna do this again. I wanna stay hidden, but there's no hiding from them. You know?

Speaker 8:

Yeah.

Thomas / Guy:

Wait. I've got it. I'm gonna cast a non detection spell on you, Ilya. That way they I think they can't bring you back into court. I've never tried it before.

Speaker 3:

Do you have that? Or did you just make that up?

Thomas / Guy:

I did not make it up. I read it in a book.

Tim / GM:

On a normal day, magic's not really my thing. But, I'm for it. And, I owe you.

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. This cost about 25 gold. So we'll call it even Steven.

Tim / GM:

You've you've saved my life twice. And, I don't know. I just figured I should say that out loud.

Thomas / Guy:

I figured you'd return the favor if you got the chance.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. We'll see. Anyway, magic me up.

Thomas / Guy:

Hooba dooba. Hooba dooba.

Tim / GM:

It's getting better. What's the spell here?

Thomas / Guy:

For the duration, you hide a target that you touch from divination magic. The target can be a willing creature, blah blah blah. The target can't be targeted by any divination magic or perceived through magical scrying sensors.

Tim / GM:

Cool. What does that look like as it takes effect?

Thomas / Guy:

I cast it, and Ilya becomes kind of, like, blurry and unfocused for a moment. Mhmm.

Speaker 7:

And then she returns to normal.

Tim / GM:

She says, I feel I feel something.

Thomas / Guy:

Woah. Who said that? Just kidding.

Speaker 7:

Ilya, I have one more boon to give you. Oh? And I take out the wand. Have you used one of these before? Is that If you pointed at them like this and I pointed at No.

Speaker 7:

No. No.

Thomas / Guy:

No. No.

Speaker 7:

No. No. Yes.

Speaker 4:

Tibia is very freaked out by that.

Tim / GM:

She she just kind of like wheels out of your way and, like, puts both her hands up and she's like, I saw that thing last night. Yes.

Speaker 8:

Why does he have that?

Thomas / Guy:

We gotta teach you some wand discipline, my man.

Speaker 3:

We don't know where he got it.

Speaker 7:

You never point a loaded wand. Right. Exactly. Well, I am I'm giving this to you for today, for I cannot kill anyways. Should you find yourself in a courtroom?

Tim / GM:

Well, yeah. Yeah. I'll take that.

Speaker 7:

Alright. Alright. Hand it over.

Speaker 3:

She just

Tim / GM:

kinda looks it up and down and then, like, points it out the window at something, and she's like,

Thomas / Guy:

yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

So after that, like, after Tibia was made nervous by the wand, he just kind of, like, slinks outside to go across the street to see the raven.

Tim / GM:

And, yeah, the raven kinda, like, cocks his head down at you. And for the first time, Tibio, it, it says, And it, it flaps down close to you and says, Thierryo.

Speaker 6:

You cannot make me come home.

Speaker 8:

I will not make you come home? Thibio, I have a message for you.

Speaker 6:

What is the message?

Tim / GM:

It's, kind of rapidly cocking its head side to side and getting a better look at you, every second. And says, the time has come

Speaker 8:

to be all female, to pass on the mantle of house Fibril. The ancients have chose you, Tibia Ophir, to take up the charge. You must return home and speak to the ancients.

Speaker 6:

I'm not ready. I haven't you don't know that my parents are dead. They might be alive.

Speaker 8:

It is the wish of your grandmother.

Tim / GM:

And it cocks its head again.

Speaker 6:

Okay. But I need some time. My work here is not done.

Speaker 8:

You might take your time.

Tim / GM:

And it flaps away.

Speaker 6:

I

Speaker 4:

walk back across the street.

Speaker 8:

What?

Thomas / Guy:

Hey, Tibia. You killed that bird?

Speaker 6:

It is gone. It will not trouble us any longer.

Speaker 7:

Good job, Tibeo.

Speaker 6:

It's not dead, but it is gone.

Maggie / Poppy:

Okay. Sorry. It just occurred to me that Tim's gonna have to do all French accents when we go to Tibia's land, and I am very here for this.

Thomas / Guy:

The first podcast, Band in France.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Alright.

Tim / GM:

On the way, I assume, to the librarian area.

Maggie / Poppy:

The librarianarium? Yes.

Tim / GM:

You make a quick pit stop at the money changer, to offload all of this silver. And, there's a bit of shock at first when they ask you where you got so much dwarven silver.

Maggie / Poppy:

Don't worry about it, Danny. Deep pockets. We got you covered. You know I'm always good.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. Yeah. You know I got you covered. That's why they call me Danny Deeppockets.

Speaker 3:

Is is this a money launderer?

Speaker 8:

Money lenderer. Yeah. It's kind of a gray area.

Speaker 7:

Holly, this is my money though. Good. Yeah. Came out of my lamp.

Speaker 8:

Is that true? Is this your horde, little dragon?

Speaker 7:

Yes. Yes, indeed. It is mine.

Speaker 8:

Well, that's impressive. You wanna see Johnny what's my name? Johnny Deep Pockets?

Thomas / Guy:

Donnie. Danny.

Maggie / Poppy:

Danny. It's Donnie, isn't it? Or is it just something else?

Speaker 8:

Danny Deep Pockets. Yeah. Danny Deep Pockets. He's gonna turn this silver into gold. How

Speaker 6:

about that?

Speaker 7:

I am intrigued. Oh my god.

Speaker 8:

Watch as it happens, little man. One bar, that's one stick.

Tim / GM:

And he like shovels a bunch of gold off the ledge.

Speaker 8:

He goes, 2 bars, that's 2 sticks. Wow. And he says, now watch this.

Tim / GM:

And he takes up whole bunch of bars, and he just, like, dumps this bag of gold over the edge.

Speaker 3:

Okay. Is he literally pouring gold onto the floor?

Tim / GM:

He's pouring gold onto snack.

Speaker 7:

Snack, climbs on top of it and stirs and nestles into the gold.

Tim / GM:

And,

Maggie / Poppy:

okay. Snack, just start putting that in storage or your lamp or something. Can we get some gold bags for this?

Speaker 7:

We need no such thing. I, opened the lamp, and I'm just kinda, like, fumbling it out of my hands into the lamp.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Genie pops out for a second and gives you a snow shovel.

Speaker 3:

Awesome. Here's snack. Let me help you. And I

Speaker 7:

The wait is, like, counter yeah. I can't wait to.

Speaker 3:

I'm I'm shoveling, but I'm also taking a little bit because I know that if snack has all of the gold, we'll never get it back. So And, of

Speaker 8:

course, you know, it's gotta be a little something for, Danny, deep pockets.

Maggie / Poppy:

Yeah, Danny. You can have 1%.

Speaker 8:

Alright. Let's see. 1% times, times 5, you know, because I got kids. So 5%.

Maggie / Poppy:

No. Come on. This is the biggest changeover you're gonna do this year. 1% is plenty.

Speaker 8:

This is true. However You want

Maggie / Poppy:

my business to keep coming back here.

Speaker 8:

Alright. 1%. Alright. 1% of 10,000. What is that?

Speaker 8:

Like, 5,000? I'm bad at math.

Maggie / Poppy:

It's 1,000.

Thomas / Guy:

Nope. Still wrong. Is that

Tim / GM:

what? That's 10%.

Thomas / Guy:

It's 100.

Speaker 8:

100 gold. Sounds good.

Maggie / Poppy:

Sounds good. Thanks, Danny.

Speaker 7:

I hate this, Holly. Why did we do this? 100 gold to this useless creature.

Maggie / Poppy:

Because we can't use silver bars to pay for everything. People won't take it in town. Trust me, gold is much more transferable.

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. The gold is more better. The gold is more liquid snack. Do you understand that?

Speaker 7:

I stare at it closely and bite on it, and it's still hard. It hurts.

Speaker 3:

How much did I snag?

Tim / GM:

Probably, like, 30. Cool. Give me 3 grubby mitts.

Speaker 3:

Grubby.

Tim / GM:

You're a thief.

Speaker 7:

Did she get roll a slight of hand for that?

Thomas / Guy:

Roll for grubbiness.

Tim / GM:

That's a good idea. Roll up contested perception snack.

Speaker 3:

Anyone wanna guess what I just rolled?

Speaker 6:

A natural one.

Speaker 3:

It was a natural one.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Uli notices there's a hole in her pocket, and every now and then, she's dripping a gold coin out of her pants.

Speaker 8:

It's just Uli.

Speaker 3:

How what? How do those get there? I need to patch these.

Speaker 7:

Yes. I do. Ollie, I made a commitment earlier today. I don't know if you recall. I cannot kill anyone all day.

Speaker 3:

Yes. I'm aware.

Speaker 7:

However, it was a one day commitment, Uli.

Speaker 3:

Are you threatening me, little man?

Speaker 7:

I am not threatening you. I'm stating facts, and facts are you did not have this gold before.

Speaker 3:

I recall us finding the silver together. Mhmm. And I was just taking it to buy you a present. I just don't have any money.

Tim / GM:

Uli, while you're kinda interacting with Snack here, you see the tattoo on the back of his hand Mhmm. Briefly shine the same way that Ilias just did.

Speaker 3:

I grab his hand Okay. And hold on.

Speaker 7:

Oh, no.

Tim / GM:

You hold it. You're just you're just holding Snag's hand now, and Snag's just kinda standing in the road.

Speaker 3:

I'm sorry.

Speaker 7:

This isn't the present. Right? No. Okay.

Speaker 3:

But just bear with me.

Tim / GM:

Suddenly, you feel snack just rocket towards the sky, and it like jerks your arm so hard it feels like it's gonna dislocate. And snack just kind of goes into like cartwheel mode and starts like, flipping around.

Speaker 3:

In the sky?

Tim / GM:

You're like you're still, like, holding on to him. I need you to make a, a strength check to hold on to snack.

Speaker 3:

Please don't roll a 1. 18.

Tim / GM:

Nice. Okay. Yeah. You hold fast to snack. And snack, you can feel like something is trying to tug at you in a different direction each time, and it's pulling so hard.

Tim / GM:

Like you're caught in a river that keeps changing direction, and it's just taking control of your body. And then eventually, you just kind of, like, fall back to the

Speaker 3:

ground. Are you okay? Did anyone else see that?

Maggie / Poppy:

Yeah. Oh, my gosh. He was trying to get summoned, but you held on to him?

Speaker 3:

Yeah. I, I think I stopped him from getting yoinked.

Maggie / Poppy:

I've never seen that happen before. Usually, they just disappear. I mean, I'm kind of a rare breed.

Thomas / Guy:

That's a heck of a loophole.

Speaker 3:

Do you wanna just, like, tie yourself to my back? I've done it before.

Speaker 7:

We could just keep holding hands, Uli. That seemed to work okay.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. To totally not weird. Okay, Snack. We'll hold hands.

Speaker 7:

Plus, I want to know where your hands are, given earlier today. Thank you for saving my life, though.

Speaker 3:

You're welcome.

Speaker 7:

I'll pay you 30 gold for the service you gave me.

Speaker 3:

Thank you. I'll keep the 3rd gold.

Maggie / Poppy:

Okay. Can we get going now?

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. Everybody grab a buddy.

Speaker 3:

I got her on mine, and I awkwardly shake his arm around.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly, like, steps off ahead of everybody.

Tim / GM:

So, Bert, the best way for you to get there being that your your kind of dominion is really the tower of knowledge and not the tower of magic, The best path for you is actually to go up to the 21st floor of the tower of knowledge and then summon a bridge to go straight across to the font of magic on the 21st floor.

Thomas / Guy:

Naturally.

Tim / GM:

Giant, almost cubic towers, stepping over the same, little 6 inch gap before you step into these floating towers.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. This time, Tibio says,

Speaker 6:

oh, everyone, mind the gip.

Tim / GM:

You guys, use a bridge to begin your ascent, through the the tower of knowledge. Bert, it's probably hard for you to hold back all of your excitement for this place and all the things you wanna tell people.

Thomas / Guy:

Here we go. Here we go.

Tim / GM:

And, you're just you're flying by, all around you in these kind of, like, concentric squares going up levels are these, enormous racks of books, that seem to, split off into hallways of endless books in every direction. Nothing here is a magic tome. This is all just history of the world. This is collected knowledge of all cultures.

Thomas / Guy:

Breathing in. Isn't it great? When this is all over, I can take you all on the tour of Bert's 50 favorite book wings. Number 43 may surprise you.

Speaker 3:

How long has it been since we left, do you think?

Tim / GM:

Maybe 20 minutes since he left Holly's place.

Speaker 3:

I have an emotion in the chamber.

Tim / GM:

Oh, okay.

Speaker 3:

So. Great. Yeah. Lock and loaded.

Tim / GM:

As you step off this floating bridge that's bringing you up 20 or so floors, Bert stepping onto the bridge directly across from you, is a, a familiar face and a pleasant sight. This is, a mentor of yours, a contact, a magister within the librarian. And, he says, Bert?

Thomas / Guy:

Sid, it's you.

Tim / GM:

Bert. Oh my god. And he, like, comes up close to you, and, he immediately kind of like gets right in your ear. You can all just barely hear him as they're talking. He says, Bird, I saw your name on the court docket.

Tim / GM:

I thought I thought I'd never see you again. Listen, man. This is not good. I don't know everything, but Malboros said your goose is cooked.

Thomas / Guy:

I can't. Well, I am in a spot of trouble, but, you know, things are looking up for us. Things are looking up for me, I think. Did you say you, are you talking to Marlboro again?

Tim / GM:

I mean, yeah, as much as I can. But, you know, he's kinda constantly surrounded by his nasty little entourage.

Maggie / Poppy:

Will you tell Marlborough that we got some evidence that's gonna clear my friend Bert here?

Tim / GM:

I suggest you bring that to Bert's court case.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh, we will.

Speaker 6:

Do you know where the judge is right now? We need to see him.

Tim / GM:

I don't know where they are right now. And he, like, looks around, and kinda, like, looks down the 20 or so floors beneath you. I haven't seen him for a little while, but I know they were in the, in court this morning for sure. I mean, a little while ago.

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. We might have known some people in there. Well, anytime we can you can get us in to see Marlborough, before Sunday, you know, the sooner the better. We could really use by by the way, I should introduce you, Uli, mister Snack, Holly, Tibio.

Maggie / Poppy:

Hello. Hey.

Tim / GM:

Nice bunch you got here, Bert. You, out collecting stories again?

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. That's right. You know, I never thought I'd be kinda at the center of this one, though.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. It's, can be a wild ride sometimes.

Thomas / Guy:

But, I think they're gonna find out that putting me at the center of the story was one of the stupidest things they coulda done.

Tim / GM:

He just kinda smiles big, and he's like, alright. I'm worried a little less. Yeah. Listen. I can get you a meeting with Malboro, but only one of you, and it's gotta be brief.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, I guess it should be me. I mean

Tim / GM:

He kinda, like, nods and shrugs at the rest of the group.

Thomas / Guy:

I can't even have my council, Tibio?

Speaker 6:

Yes. I am his lawyer.

Tim / GM:

Afraid not. We're gonna have to play this pretty stealth.

Thomas / Guy:

Alright. Fair enough.

Tim / GM:

Alright. You can expect it late tonight. I'll have him summon you.

Thomas / Guy:

Alright. Thank you so much, Sid. And, hey, there's, there's one other thing I was hoping I could ask you for a favor. Mhmm.

Speaker 8:

I don't know

Thomas / Guy:

if you or one of the other scribes could do this, but we could use a list of everyone in town who has died or gone missing over the last month or so. Does that make sense?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Makes sense, but I'm kinda back to feeling like your goose is cooked. How many did he got you on trial for?

Thomas / Guy:

Well, just the one, but, all of those people may not be as dead or missing as we think.

Tim / GM:

That is good news then. Alright. Yeah. I'll I'll see if I can get you a list of missing persons or some ones.

Speaker 7:

Yes. We have many of them in our basement.

Thomas / Guy:

Bert. He's like the jester of the group. You know?

Tim / GM:

Right. Well That's

Speaker 3:

a really cool title, Nick.

Tim / GM:

I'll I'll get you the meeting. I'll get you your list, and and I support you, Bert. But, for now, you know, I didn't see you. You didn't see me.

Thomas / Guy:

Got it buddy. Thank you so much Sid.

Tim / GM:

And, he takes a step off the bridge into open air, looking like he's gonna plummet. And then another bridge just, like, immediately comes up to meet him, and he takes it down. Cool.

Speaker 3:

This town is a lot shadier than I expected.

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. There's still some good guys like him though.

Maggie / Poppy:

Welcome to politics.

Tim / GM:

You now stand on the threshold of the tower of knowledge on the outside on this little balcony, and there's no bridge that leads across this place. There's this open expanse of maybe a 100 feet or so.

Thomas / Guy:

Alright. Who wants to go first? Just kidding. I'll go.

Tim / GM:

And, Bert, you do the same thing where you just kind of like put one foot over the open air, and then this thing moves at an uncanny speed up to the 21st floor. And, before you could even have a chance to plummet, the bridge softly meets you where you need it to be. See, no problem. It's a little eerie, moving across this thing being supported by nothing at high winds, 21 floors up. How do you all handle that experience?

Thomas / Guy:

I'm, whistling.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly's probably pretty just, like, eye on the prize. She's so close to the fountain right now that she is not really worried about the bridge.

Speaker 7:

Mhmm. Snek is holding his, cape out with his arms and running fast. And it comes back and then runs again when he gets up to the group.

Maggie / Poppy:

The bridge isn't, like, see through or anything. Right?

Tim / GM:

No. It's just like a stone bridge. Yeah. Okay.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. I wanna say in a previous episode, I established that hoo hooly. I think I established that Uli is now afraid of heights.

Tim / GM:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

Also, it's a lot of faith to put in magic, and I don't do that. Yeah. So I am probably as flat as possible.

Tim / GM:

Just crawling across the ridge? Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Tibia is, twisted the skeleton to be on all fours for more stability Yeah. Yeah. And is sitting in the skeleton that is crawling across the It's

Tim / GM:

like crab walking. Yeah. Yeah. You're about halfway across the bridge, and, I need everyone to make a perception check.

Maggie / Poppy:

Meet a natural one.

Speaker 7:

12.

Speaker 3:

18. Oh, fuck. Yeah. Nat 20.

Thomas / Guy:

Nice. I too got to 12. Okay.

Tim / GM:

So Tibio, Snack is on his way back, charging across the bridge, holding his k pop. And you can see with his hand extended that it flashes that blue glow again.

Speaker 6:

Snack is going to be summoned. Someone, stop. Stop him. Who's closest?

Tim / GM:

You're all pretty close together, actually.

Speaker 3:

Dog pile.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Yeah. So go ahead and make a grapple attempt on Snack.

Speaker 4:

My skeleton also reaches out a hand.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Go ahead and make a a grapple attempt as well.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly kinda turns around and is like, what's going on?

Speaker 6:

19.

Speaker 4:

12.

Tim / GM:

So, yeah, Uli managed is to, kind of snatch snack out of the air, as he goes, like more milk. As he goes, cartwheeling off again. Snack, this time, Uli wasn't holding you when it happened, but it felt like somebody grabbed you by the back of the neck and just whipped you up into the sky. But, Uli, like, grabs you by the tail, as you're heading up and just pulls you down like a freed balloon.

Speaker 3:

And I sit on him, and I say, 30 more gold, please.

Tim / GM:

And, as Uli's sitting on him on the ground, every now and then, Uli does, like, a little, like, hop jump.

Speaker 3:

This is not where I wanted to be doing this. We're so high up.

Thomas / Guy:

Boy, they're just gonna keep trying on you, aren't they, Snake?

Speaker 7:

I don't like this at all.

Tim / GM:

You wait a couple minutes and, the attempts, halt again.

Thomas / Guy:

Are we just gonna keep holding on to him forever?

Speaker 3:

Rock rope? I could tether you to me.

Speaker 7:

Snack pulls out the rope and ties it around himself and hands Lee the other end.

Tim / GM:

Oh, no.

Speaker 3:

So now Snack has a leash.

Maggie / Poppy:

Oh, alright. Backpack. You go in your lamp. Maybe they can't summon you there.

Speaker 7:

Yes. But I need to make sure that genie gets the genie gets the fountain.

Speaker 3:

Is that why we're here?

Speaker 4:

Why does Genie

Speaker 8:

need to

Speaker 6:

go through the fountain?

Speaker 7:

Did I not did I not say, is anyone nearby us?

Tim / GM:

No. It's just you guys out here on the bridge.

Speaker 7:

Ginny seeks this fountain, and it will make him more powerful and able to deal with curses better. Right?

Maggie / Poppy:

Okay. I mean, that's the idea.

Thomas / Guy:

We all saw how he couldn't quite handle Emrys' curse. So I'm, I mean, I was a little skeptical at first, but I'm I'm hoping this fountain can do the trick.

Speaker 6:

And Genie seems to be benevolent,

Maggie / Poppy:

At least under the power of snack.

Speaker 6:

Or the other way around.

Tim / GM:

Your conversation is interrupted by a door opening from, the tower of magic as somebody steps out and is now privy to your conversation if you keep speaking.

Speaker 6:

All I'm

Speaker 3:

saying is that we should just talk to each other more. Communicate. That's how this works.

Speaker 6:

Yes. And, we are all good friends, and this tour has been very good for our friendship.

Maggie / Poppy:

Okay. Bert, can you finish up and show us the tower of magic now?

Thomas / Guy:

Yes. Let's continue to walk in this direction.

Tim / GM:

Bert, you turn to lead the group, and walking towards you across the bridge is judge Flann.

Speaker 6:

Oh, come on.

Thomas / Guy:

Alright. I'm just gonna keep walking and not make eye contact.

Tim / GM:

Okay. You hear?

Speaker 8:

Good morning. Morning.

Thomas / Guy:

When she

Tim / GM:

passes by Morning.

Speaker 3:

I instinctively grab Snack's hand again.

Tim / GM:

Any of you who are daring to watch her as she passes, she kind of, like, turns her head to keep an eye on your group, and you can see her smirking as she walks away and, leaves through the tower of knowledge.

Speaker 6:

Yikes.

Thomas / Guy:

Bear it with judge Flynn.

Speaker 6:

That was judge Flynn? Yeah. She is bad news. Do you think she is trying to summon snack?

Tim / GM:

Probably. Wouldn't surprise me. You guys, finally step into the chamber and, that that kind of controls access to the font of magic. The only light in this room is coming from some, some blue flame sconces that are on the wall. It might just be for dramatic effect.

Tim / GM:

You can also see some light coming from underneath the crack of these tall double doors at the end of the chamber. There are a few lawmages that stand guard in front of the door, And then there's a small, protected kiosk, kind of built into the wall, where Umtendon takes payment, to grant access into the the fountain itself.

Thomas / Guy:

Alright. Everyone just be cool. We're normal everyday citizens just, trying to up our magic game.

Speaker 3:

Can they hear you saying this?

Thomas / Guy:

I hope not.

Tim / GM:

You guys kinda catch the end of a conversation, between 2 of the lawmages. And, it was they are saying something about how strange it is that Judge Flan is in so early today.

Thomas / Guy:

Hello, folks. We are here to see the fountain.

Tim / GM:

The guards kind of shut up and, stare straight forward and try to look a little more professional. The attendant in the kiosk sticks their head out a little bit, from this little window that they can speak through. Very well, Steph Ford.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly steps forward.

Thomas / Guy:

Who's

Tim / GM:

to use the fountain today?

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly Hyacinth.

Speaker 7:

Snack. Snack as well.

Tim / GM:

Very well. Only the 2 of you will be permitted in. Your cohorts will have to wait out here.

Maggie / Poppy:

They all need to use the fountain too.

Tim / GM:

Understood. Each of them will need to pay.

Maggie / Poppy:

That's fine.

Tim / GM:

Very good. I need to measure you for magical capacity.

Maggie / Poppy:

How much is the payment today?

Tim / GM:

We'll find out. 1 by 1, please. I need her to line up.

Maggie / Poppy:

Okay.

Tim / GM:

And, she takes out this little, diagnostic tool. It kinda looks like a tire pressure checker. It's like a wand with a little wand that comes out of

Maggie / Poppy:

it. Sick.

Tim / GM:

And, she, like, points it at snack. And, have you used any spells today at all? I have not. Okay. So the wand, like, barely extends.

Tim / GM:

Not much to fill up on.

Speaker 7:

It's important we are learning to read books and Bert wanted me to be magic. Ready.

Tim / GM:

Okay. 5 gold, please.

Speaker 7:

I turn the lamp upside down and pour all the gold out.

Speaker 6:

All of it. No.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. They see it kind of, like, scatter all over the floor, and then, they kinda, like, watch 1 coin just, like, roll away, just kinda keeping it keeping an eye on it. And they say, yes. 5 gold.

Thomas / Guy:

Wait. I I just is there a bathroom on this floor? I really need to use the bathroom.

Tim / GM:

Bathrooms are on 12th.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly, picks up 5 gold from the floor because she's standing next to snack and then gives it to the attendant. Next. Sorry about the mess. You can do me next.

Tim / GM:

Points the wand and no magic today?

Maggie / Poppy:

Yeah.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Same thing as snack. Very well. 5 gold.

Maggie / Poppy:

It's another 5 gold.

Speaker 3:

Next. I guess I'm, I wasn't planning on it, but here.

Tim / GM:

Oh, do you have a mark or no?

Speaker 3:

Which one? I'm covered in tattoo.

Tim / GM:

Some mark for Childree.

Speaker 3:

Oh, I guess not.

Tim / GM:

I'm afraid I can't permit you.

Speaker 3:

That's fine. I don't need it anyway.

Thomas / Guy:

She's just in visiting for the day. You know how it is.

Speaker 7:

But but she's got I'm tied up to her. Next.

Thomas / Guy:

I've, yes. Hello.

Tim / GM:

Have you used magic today?

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. And I wish I had used more before I realized we were getting all our spell slots back.

Tim / GM:

She extends the wand that you and, it it comes out significantly more than before, and changes color a little bit. And, she says, I chose the wrong tool. She says, 175 gold, please. Alright. And next.

Speaker 4:

I offer to take the rock rope from Uli and hold on to it.

Speaker 3:

That yep. That here you go.

Thomas / Guy:

And

Speaker 4:

then I step forward.

Tim / GM:

K. Yeah. The wand, like, kind of in the middle, and she says, 10 gold, please.

Speaker 6:

Hand over 10 gold

Speaker 4:

from the pile. Yeah. Not from my own pocket.

Speaker 3:

I helped scoop the rest back.

Thomas / Guy:

I have a question. Is there anything preventing us from using spells when we go inside?

Tim / GM:

There's a sign in there that says no magic.

Speaker 7:

Fuck. Okay.

Thomas / Guy:

No worries.

Tim / GM:

I mean, it's not preventing you. I just

Thomas / Guy:

should have met a game to this better, but it's fine.

Speaker 3:

I'm I might go find the bathroom while you guys are doing this. Okay. And, I leave.

Thomas / Guy:

We'll meet you on the 12th floor?

Tim / GM:

Yep. You the 4 of you step into, these these tall white double doors. It's sort of blinding actually, when they open up. Inside is this circular chamber that takes up the next 6 floors vertically. In the center of it is this round stone fountain, that looks like it has water pouring into it or shooting out of it, but you can't quite tell.

Tim / GM:

This this slow moving water like liquid has some kind of opalescent colors to it. It's it's sort of a a static glob of water that has these fractal line patterns all throughout it. It's it's kind of mesmerizing to just sit there and stare at it. A, little drawing on a sign, shows you that you just need to kind of cup your hands and and place them into the fountain, and, that should do you upright.

Maggie / Poppy:

Are there any signs that say, like, don't fill vials or anything like that around?

Tim / GM:

No. There's just one sign in there, and it just says no magic, and it's got, like, a little picture of, like, a person dying from lightning bolts.

Speaker 3:

Ball Like

Speaker 8:

a Just a ball of lightning.

Maggie / Poppy:

I'm not sure if this is gonna work, but I have these vials. Hopefully, I can bring this back to the animals. I know almost nothing about this fountain. And she takes Ivy out of her pocket and, she gives her a little, like, pet just on her forehead between her eyes and then says, alright. Best wishes, little one.

Maggie / Poppy:

And she, puts her on the edge of the fountain so she can, like, take a drink from

Tim / GM:

the fountain. Henri kind of, like, delicately, like, puts her head closer and closer to the this upward moving stream and then, like, opens their mouth and, like, sticks their tongue in it for a second. And, their tongue kind of rapidly changes colors when it does, and then pulls it back. And then they kind of open and close their mouth a few times, and then they look back up at you.

Maggie / Poppy:

Maybe we just put you put your whole body in?

Tim / GM:

It, kind of, like, puts one foot forward and then another, and, like, the front of its body is kind of, like, lifted off the ground by the upward force of this thing. It just kind of lets go of its back legs. And it's just sort of lifted, and it's slowly hovering. And, it sort of is moving farther into the fountain and becoming kind of a a a more obscured and sort of warbled shadow.

Maggie / Poppy:

Oh, oh, don't go that far. Holly tries to reach out and, scoop them Yeah. Back closer.

Tim / GM:

When you when you put your hand in the fountain, Holly, you can feel this sort of, this thrill of magical energy, just kind of vibrate through your body. It's it's almost like looking for a home within you.

Maggie / Poppy:

Can I reach the Camille?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. You can reach her. You can feel her. Yeah.

Maggie / Poppy:

I'm gonna kinda hold on to her so she doesn't go any further. Mhmm. And then she doesn't know what to do, so she's just gonna, like, make a wish and try to, like, be like, Ivy, if you're in there, come back. Come back. Come back.

Maggie / Poppy:

And she just is, like, trying to will. I like, she's, like, trying to imagine Ivy in her mind's eye and, holding on to a chameleon.

Tim / GM:

When you start making these wishes out loud, you can all see these these lines and patterns kind of form between Holly and the water. It seems to be reacting to what she's saying and what she's wishing. You can see the form of the chameleon sort of warble in for a second. You can see a shadow of a face. It looks kind of like Holly, but nothing really changes.

Tim / GM:

You're just getting these figments.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly, like, gets frustrated and pulls, Henri out of the water and sticks a step back from the fountain for a second. I don't it's not working.

Speaker 6:

I don't think that's what this fountain is for. I'm sorry, honey.

Speaker 7:

Snack takes out his lamp and, hits it, upside down on the ledge. Genie. Genie. We are here.

Tim / GM:

Yes. Yes. Yes. Oh, gods. Yes.

Tim / GM:

Is this it, Snack?

Speaker 7:

Yes. This is a fountain.

Tim / GM:

Oh, can I come out now?

Speaker 7:

Of course.

Thomas / Guy:

Hey, leave some for the rest of us, though, Genie.

Tim / GM:

More forcefully than ever before, like a gun going off, Jeanie bursts out of the lamp. He's wearing a 3 piece tailored suit, and he's got his hair combed over all nice. And he says, snack, I I can't thank you enough for bringing me here. You have no idea what this means for the both of us.

Speaker 7:

I don't know what it means. You are right.

Tim / GM:

I'm happy for you, Genie. Oh, snack. It's so close. And he, like, stares at this this pillar of light. Are you ready?

Tim / GM:

I think so.

Thomas / Guy:

Do you think maybe Tibia and I should go first? I know you're excited, mister genie.

Tim / GM:

Back outside, Umly, as you're, trying to figure out how these bridges work, how you summon them up and get around with them too. You're just kind of like staring over the edge, and you, like, put a hand up, and you're, like, come on. Like

Speaker 3:

I, I carefully put a foot out Mhmm. And then put it back.

Tim / GM:

The stone bridge, kind of like rapidly approaches and you hear this rush, this whoosh of open air as it shows up. On the bridge, again, is Judge Flann.

Speaker 3:

Great.

Tim / GM:

There are 2 other figures next to her.

Speaker 3:

What do they look like? Are they dwarves?

Tim / GM:

No. One is an older man. If you've ever seen just an angry face

Speaker 3:

I have.

Tim / GM:

This is an angry face.

Maggie / Poppy:

His whole body is just one big angry face.

Tim / GM:

There's, another, portly man that is kind of standing and sort of behind those 2, with his hands folded together staring at the ground. Behind them, a small troop of 6, dressed magisters.

Speaker 3:

Cool.

Tim / GM:

The central figure, judge Tonberry, smirks at you.

Speaker 3:

What, what do these bridges look like?

Tim / GM:

They're made of stone.

Speaker 3:

Are they just regular bridges, but they're moved with magic?

Tim / GM:

Yes. Kill them, Ollie. So you're, like, on the ground as you were, like, summoning this thing with your foot out. Mhmm. So he just smirks at you, and then this whole troop of people just kind of like walk past you and say nothing.

Speaker 3:

Past me?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Into the room. Cool.

Speaker 3:

Message. Am I within a 120 feet of Yes. My friends? Yep. I will message to, Tibia

Tim / GM:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

And say, Tibs, they're, the whole the whole bad gang is coming.

Speaker 4:

I can respond?

Speaker 3:

Yeah. You can whisper back. They're all they're literally all of them are here.

Speaker 6:

Got it. I'll warn the others.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Tim / GM:

When Tibio responds to the message spell within the chamber, that fountain kind of, like, shrivels down to this intense little purple beam, and everything Tibio says is just echoed in a booming voice throughout this chamber.

Maggie / Poppy:

Oh. Stein says he can't use magic?

Speaker 6:

I'm sorry. Uli messaged me. She said that all of the judges and them, they are coming here.

Tim / GM:

Genie, like, chases down the little flickering fountain flame and says, no.

Speaker 8:

No. No. No.

Speaker 7:

Hurry, Genie. We do not have much time.

Tim / GM:

Are you well? And he, like, just like opens his arms wide out to either side, and he just opens his mouth wider and wider, and just starts inhaling. And you can all feel the rush of air in this chamber, as this entire stream, it kind of bursts back to its full height, and then it arcs downwards towards Genie going straight into his mouth. If you've ever seen the lightning weapon in the Raiden arcade game, this is just beaming into his mouth. And you can see it like arcing all over the place, and he's just getting larger and larger and more muscular.

Tim / GM:

At the same time, snack is getting larger and larger and more muscular.

Speaker 7:

Yes.

Tim / GM:

Snack, you can feel it in your bones. You can see these larger scales that are starting to press their way out of your skin. You can feel your jaw like taking this heavy shape as your teeth grow sharper and larger. I loosen my loincloth.

Speaker 3:

Of course. That's

Maggie / Poppy:

your first reaction.

Speaker 7:

Yes. So I I starting off scampering around on all fours, and then I I kind of stop and then look at my hands and stand up tall and straight.

Tim / GM:

And, at this point, Snack is scarcely shorter than the rest of the humans. Snack is about 5 feet tall.

Speaker 7:

Oh, man. That's a growth spurt. I 2 foot 1 inches before.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. So he's doubled in height.

Speaker 4:

Tibio has is sitting on the floor now with this the skeleton sitting on the floor. Tibio is sitting on the skeleton and is just in shock, just watching Snack grow and grow and just watching as he goes up and up.

Tim / GM:

And, Genie looks down at you, Snack, and, he, like, makes, like, locked eye contact with you. At this point, his face is, like, taking up half the room, and he's staring down at you, and then his face just turns into like a dragon head, and he like breathes fire straight up into the air and he says, yes, master snack. Yes, genie.

Speaker 7:

I, am very tempted. I'm about to cast eldritch blast and then look at the sign and then stop.

Tim / GM:

He, like, puts a finger up to his lips and then he says, snack, I need a little more. And he turns back to the fountain and he keeps absorbing and he's getting taller and taller. And now he's going about 3 stories up into this room, and you can see his face becoming unlike Genie.

Thomas / Guy:

It

Tim / GM:

starts to twist into this ferocious he looks like he wants to destroy the room that you're in.

Speaker 6:

Sneck. Sneck, you have to stop.

Speaker 7:

Wonderful. He is powerful.

Speaker 6:

We're running out of time, Snack. This is not good.

Thomas / Guy:

Snack, I think I think you got enough juice. Plus, we gotta get out of here.

Speaker 7:

Genie, we must stop.

Tim / GM:

Master Snack. That is enough.

Speaker 7:

Genie, our friends are in danger, and we have enemies approaching.

Tim / GM:

He, takes a step out of the fountain. And, if Genie could sweat, he is sweating magic. He's just glistening shirtless as he steps out of the fountain. And, you can see this, like, steam kind of wicking off of his body. And he says, snack.

Tim / GM:

We are powerful.

Speaker 7:

I give a knowing nod and look around, nervously. It kind of setting in that I am now a larger creature.

Maggie / Poppy:

Snack. Snack. I I need the genie to grant my wish. You owe me this.

Speaker 7:

I do, Holly.

Maggie / Poppy:

We need to do it now before the trial.

Speaker 7:

Fine. Genie. I have a wish.

Maggie / Poppy:

But snack, make sure. You have to ask for all of the animals.

Speaker 7:

Yes, Genie. The animals that were once people, we want them to be people yet again. Can you do this?

Tim / GM:

I can do this, Snack. Yes. But I'll need to see them, of course. Shit.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, we got one right here.

Tim / GM:

Poor creature. Let me free you from this. And, Jeanie, gets down close to you, Holly, and extends a big muscular hand and says, may I?

Maggie / Poppy:

Of course. Holly, offers up the chameleon.

Tim / GM:

Genie has the chameleon in both hands, sets it on the ground, and then hovers his hands above it. And he says, you are free. And you can see the chameleon start to kind of warble and and shift. And, you can, like, see the beginnings of, what color of hair does Ivy have?

Maggie / Poppy:

Probably just blonde.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Okay. You can see the beginnings of, like, blonde hair start to come out of Anri's head, and the door explodes open. Thanks so much for listening. I'm Tim, your DM and your genie.

Maggie / Poppy:

I'm Hannah playing Holly Hyacinth.

Thomas / Guy:

I'm Thomas. I play Engelbert f f Wisherspoon.

Speaker 9:

I'm Tara, and I play Tibio Femur.

Speaker 7:

I'm John. I play Snack the kobold.

Speaker 3:

And I'm Maggie
