Cursebreaker | 13 - Bingo is Her Name-O

It's a busy day in Tildry! Holly makes Magical Armor, Bert goes undercover to visit the Librarium, and Margot Bingo invites us to the Guildhouse!
Tim / GM:

Last time on Cursebreaker. After spending the night at the Barrow family farm, our party awoke to a kingly brunch where Bert was inexplicably made a guest of honor. On the way to the city gates of Tilderie, Uli stopped to speak with her brother and discovered he's fomenting a revolution, and wants Uli's help. With their paperwork in order and everyone except Uly swearing an oath to do no harm in Tildry, they made their first stop at Holly's cub, where miss Hyacinth makes her magical shoes. There's less than a week before Bert's trial,

Hannah / Eryn:

Can you lay the scene

Tim / GM:

for us, where we are? That's

Tara / Journey:

the next part.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. You

Hannah / Eryn:

guys as well we are.

Tim / GM:

You guys did a little bit of, work getting into Tildry, signed some papers, so all of you except Uli. Well, actually, I mean Holly and Bert technically have a tattoo as well. Yours is actually more permanent than theirs but you can now be summoned by the courts, I guess, Tibio and Snack, whenever they need to do so. But you're also free to use magic pretty much unchecked within the city. Uli.

Tim / GM:

If you use magic, you will be apparently found or discovered, most of the time.

Speaker 4:

I mean, I'm kinda hard to miss anyway.

Tim / GM:

Also true. So I think last we checked in, you guys had just entered Holly's Cobb, which is her shoe store. You talked briefly with Rosemary, Holly's assistant, who gave her, like, her earnings for the couple weeks that Holly was gone, and then let her know also that she ruined a very expensive bottle of Elixir, just a a very important reagent for Holly's magic.

Speaker 5:

Essence of Midnight.

Tim / GM:

Essence of Midnight. Nice. And I think you were all still there.

Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Tara / Journey:

Yeah. I believe

Speaker 4:

I was telling all of them about the revolution.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. That's correct.

Tara / Journey:

You told us about that.

Speaker 4:

And then my second youngest sister is here who it seems she's in trouble maybe a little bit, and we don't get along.

Tim / GM:

Shocker. Hey.

Speaker 4:

I'm unlikable.

Tara / Journey:

That's just the pattern.

Hannah / Eryn:

Alright. So who's Ulrich? That's your brother?

Speaker 4:

That's my second oldest brother.

Tara / Journey:

He owns that farm. Gotcha.

Speaker 4:

That farm.

Tim / GM:

Ulrich and Ilya are nearby.

Speaker 5:

Yep. Holly, were we going to go to your house next and get settled?

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. Holly, looks at her watch, and then she's like, oh, yeah. I'm not wearing a watch. And then she, like, looks outside to see what time it is.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Holly, like, looks outside and stares up at the sun, and and she turns around. And, Holly, it is, it is 11:45 AM.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. We, can get headed back here soon. I think, Rosemary has her a good handle on things. But, Rosemary, please just stay away from the high cost potions, if you will, and materials.

Tim / GM:

She turns around to look at you, and she actually fumbles a bottle and just kinda gives you, like, a a, like, shocked eyes, big smile.

Hannah / Eryn:

Okay. Well, I'm taking Henri with me as well. And, she takes Henri off her shoulder and puts it back

Tim / GM:

on her own. Henri very slowly, like, makes little, clasping hands at, Rosemary and kind of, like, pulls on Rosemary's clothing as you as Henri gets pulled away. And Rosemary goes, hey.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. That's enough for now. He's coming with me. Alright. Let's head over to my house.

Hannah / Eryn:

It's just, down the next block of homes over here.

Tim / GM:

So, yeah, your your, shop, I guess, is in is in, like, you know, the shop area. It's called, Broad Lane. That's where your shop is. And then the sort of residential district, is called the bricks, which is where your townhouse is. And what kind of what kind of domicile did you end up with, Holly?

Tim / GM:

What does your house look like?

Hannah / Eryn:

I think Holly is a modestly successful businessperson. She doesn't have, like, the fanciest house, but it's definitely, like, clean and tidy and, very, very cozy and as cottagey as she could make it. And so it's like a townhouse like you would imagine in in I guess, like, in my head, I'm, like, thinking of, like, Brooklyn, like, townhome Like a brownstone. Yeah. Exactly.

Hannah / Eryn:

Is there,

Tim / GM:

like, a little step

Hannah / Eryn:

up to it? Yep. Yeah. So you have to, like, step up to get to it. But it's, like, very narrow, like, more fantasy.

Hannah / Eryn:

So, like, wedged in between, like, all these, like, tons of town homes. So it's just, like, small still. And then yeah. There's, like, cute little vines grown on the outside with, like, some little flowers on it. And then, she when she walks in the door, it's 2 stories in a basement.

Hannah / Eryn:

And when you walk in, it's all like this, like, very squishy cozy couch and, like, cute little cushions and just, like, the coziest, like, little teapot on the stove. Mhmm. Yeah. Tons of little, knickknacks and potions around, but all still very, like everything has a place almost. Like, they're clean.

Hannah / Eryn:

So, even though she's been gone for a few weeks. So yeah. And just lots of coziness and cuteness.

Tara / Journey:

What was the residential area called again?

Tim / GM:

The bricks. The bricks. So for the first time in a while, you're in your own comfy home, and, you, like, smell the atmosphere of your own home. And it kind of, brings you back to what life is like when you're just running a business and not, you know, facing down curses every other day.

Hannah / Eryn:

So good to be home. Holly, like, takes off her apron that she's been wearing the whole time and hangs it on a little hook when she rocks in the door. And she sort of just, like, glides in. She turns on the kettle just like she does every day when she comes home. She takes Henri off her shoulder and puts him up on his little, like he has, like, a little fake plant thing that he lives on, a little house, and he crawls into the house

Tim / GM:

and they

Hannah / Eryn:

felt happy.

Speaker 4:

I like sidle in and, like, squish past some of the the poofs and couches and, like, I feel, like, very awkward because it feels small to me. Mhmm. I'm like, do you have enough room for all of us?

Hannah / Eryn:

It'll be a bit of a squeeze, but it should be okay. I mean, I also have the back, garden. So if anyone wants to camp out and we have 2 bedrooms upstairs, and then the couch here. You might be a little too big for that one, though. Holly, like, giggles and be like but you can definitely take a seat on it.

Hannah / Eryn:

It's like a little twin sofa.

Speaker 4:

I will camp.

Hannah / Eryn:

You wanna camp outside? Yeah. The garden's really, really pleasant. I got some really nice flowers growing out there.

Speaker 4:

Thanks.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. Let me make you a spot of tea real quick. So Holly's gonna whip up some tea for everybody.

Speaker 4:

I sit down very precariously on the edge of the couch.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, this is great, Holly. Thanks for thanks for letting us crash here.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. No problem. Like I said, most of your stuff can probably fit out the back door here, and then you guys can all hang out for a little bit.

Speaker 7:

Snack, slithers off to the upstairs and is checking out the bedrooms. He's checking the windows and entryways and looking for, any signs of burglary, a break in of some kind.

Tim / GM:

Holly, are you the kind of person who, is, like, very good about locking all your doors and windows and all that kind of stuff?

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. She's pretty I would say she's pretty street smart, living in the city. Yeah. So, yeah, she keeps everything pretty secure.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Everything everything seems pretty tightly locked up. There seems no sign of forced entry or anything. Mhmm.

Hannah / Eryn:

She would probably also, like, imbue her curtains with magic of, like, protection or, like, pretending, like, there's this, like, it's a ban like, I don't know. Not abandoned, but, like yeah. Ward. Ward. There we go.

Hannah / Eryn:

She probably would've used, like, the fabric of her curtains to try to, like, protect her home too a little bit.

Tim / GM:

Mhmm. Or, like, makes it look like there's people in there all the time. Yeah.

Hannah / Eryn:

Or something.

Tim / GM:

It's called It's like the spell is called Kevin McCallister. Yeah.

Speaker 7:

Yeah. Zack comes down and is very impressed with Holly.

Speaker 8:

Holly, I see that you are a bull that is safe from intruders.

Hannah / Eryn:

Oh, you can never be too safe in the city, you know. You, always have to keep your guard up a little bit, especially in Tildry.

Speaker 8:

Wonderful. Holly, I can offer you my services. I am a practiced trap maker.

Hannah / Eryn:

Well, you might be interested to see my mini workshop in the basement. Oh. Mhmm. I got some good tools down there for crafting and making things.

Speaker 8:

Excellent. Yes. I think we should, make some traps. It is not safe in the city. Is that true?

Speaker 8:

Bert is on trial. Is he not?

Hannah / Eryn:

Well, yeah. But I mean, they're just gonna summon him whenever they want. I mean, there's not many ways we can stop that from happening. I don't I don't think, at least not magic that I know.

Thomas / Guy:

I'll probably just poof out at some point.

Hannah / Eryn:

But what we can do is try to find out more details on his trial, and do some research to help him get prepared.

Speaker 8:

Yes.

Hannah / Eryn:

So that'll be our trap with our brains.

Speaker 8:

Yes. I will sharpen my knives.

Thomas / Guy:

Your brain knives.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Holly.

Hannah / Eryn:

My pack of knives.

Tim / GM:

Now that you're inside, it's getting a little uncomfortably warm. Your your pack just feels like it has, like, like, a hot water bottle sitting in it somewhere that's just kind of, like, right. So it's like your pack is, like, sitting at your hip or something.

Thomas / Guy:

There's a lot of weird shit

Tim / GM:

in there.

Hannah / Eryn:

You have a lot of stuff in there. Holly is, like, making the tea, and the stove is very warm and, like, the sun is shining in the back window. And so and then she feels the heat from her, backpack and the tea cat. She's just like, and, like, she just starts, like, fanning herself. And then the tea kettle, like, starts bubbling and steaming goes.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. You know, like

Tim / GM:

It's all too much.

Hannah / Eryn:

She takes it off the stove and pours the tea cups and stuffs it down. And then she, goes over to, her pack and takes a dig around until she finds what's hot, hot potato.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. And you you, you fish out the golden dragon scale. It's even thicker than you remember. And, when you take it out inside, you notice now that it actually does glow just a little bit, when it's in shadow.

Hannah / Eryn:

That's a pretty hot scale we got here, guys. We might have to utilize this or store it safely.

Thomas / Guy:

Is that the dragon scale?

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. I've been carrying it around this whole time. Quite warm.

Tim / GM:

What did

Thomas / Guy:

this mean?

Hannah / Eryn:

You wanna hold it? Oh, and Henri, hops onto it because it's warm. And it's, like, sitting at the scale.

Tim / GM:

And Henri, like, turns gold.

Hannah / Eryn:

Oh, cool. Yeah. Because it's chameleon. It's chameleon.

Speaker 4:

Can he glow too?

Tim / GM:

I'm not sure how magic the chameleon is.

Tara / Journey:

Tibia goes up to Bert and taps him on the shoulder.

Speaker 5:

Bert, I had a question for you.

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. What's up?

Speaker 5:

When I was young, there was a traveling troop that came through our village, and they did a courtroom drama. And I was wondering if you need a lawyer and if I could be your lawyer. Woah. I'm practicing objection.

Thomas / Guy:

I was planning on, representing myself, but I suppose having someone to take that weight off would be pretty helpful.

Speaker 5:

I only know how to do one case, and it is the case of the missing slippers. But I think that I could be an asset either way.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, I suppose it would take a little bit of adaption to conflate, missing slippers with a murder case.

Speaker 5:

Oh, I see. Yes. That makes sense.

Thomas / Guy:

But, hold on. We'll keep investing in case. I think you could still be a big help.

Speaker 5:

Okay. Anything you need me to do, Bertha, I will help. You should take

Hannah / Eryn:

him, all them bones, to the librarian and see if you can get him some, books up on studying the law here in Tildrey.

Thomas / Guy:

It's a great idea, Ollie.

Tim / GM:

And, Bert, that actually triggers a pretty pertinent memory for you. In the librarian, specifically in the Tower of Knowledge, which is your tower, there is a floor, called called the archives of history, in which they have, a museum quality

Thomas / Guy:

library something at the librarian that's, right up your alley, Tibio.

Speaker 5:

Oh, really? Like what?

Thomas / Guy:

Let's just say a bunch of boats.

Speaker 5:

Oh, how exciting. I would love to see it. I

Thomas / Guy:

wish I could tell you more, but, to be honest, you've taught me a lot about bones, an interest that wasn't so deep before. Maybe I can teach you something about law.

Hannah / Eryn:

That would be wonderful. Tibio is a scale, a bone, and Holly, like, holds out the scale with Henri curled up all cute on it.

Tim / GM:

And, Tibio, it this has the same thing as, like, a horn or a fingernail where it's actually sort of organic chitin that will rot over time.

Speaker 5:

It is not exactly the same. I don't really get anything from this the way I would from a skeleton.

Hannah / Eryn:

Holly's going to, roll a check on it for, like, seeing if she knows anything about the magical properties of the scale, because she, like, works with materials that are magical a lot and stuff. So I wonder if that what kind of role that would be.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. That would be an, arcana check.

Hannah / Eryn:

A 19.

Tim / GM:

19. So kind of between being able to detect the magic on this thing and also your kind of background knowledge of what dragons are and to do, you know that this dragon scale is inherently good, as, metallic dragons often are. That it is attuned to the element of fire, that it is it is actively, actually good and will respond to evil things, that it, it's it it would make a hell of an armor. You can just tell that by sort of a material inspection with your with your crafting knowledge, that you know that this this thing would effectively stop bullets, if made into armor.

Hannah / Eryn:

But it can detect bad things?

Tim / GM:

Not that it detects bad things. It actually it would protect you from bad things, from evil, specifically.

Speaker 7:

And bullets are a brand of bolts sold in this

Speaker 8:

Yeah.

Tim / GM:

It's it's like they're yeah. So bullet bill is, like, one of the biggest, he sells these special arrows. Nice. Yeah.

Hannah / Eryn:

Holly is holding the scale out in front of her after kind of I'm doing the arcana check on it. Mhmm. And she is like, I definitely think that I can do something with this. Snack?

Speaker 7:

What?

Hannah / Eryn:

Come down to my workshop. And, Holly kick kicks open the door next to the stove, and it opens into, like, a black abyss of the basement. And then she, flicks on a little gas lamp switch with her elbow because she's still holding the the dragon scale with the chameleon. Yeah. Sleep on it.

Tim / GM:

You just hear this, like, little, like and it's, like, 6 lamps, like, light up around the place. Cool.

Hannah / Eryn:

Cool. And she starts walking down into the basement. And it's just, like, your typical unfinished creaky asshole basement. Creepy as hell.

Speaker 7:

Snek is really excited about this and, kind of like stumbles past you down the stairs and rushes down to scope out the place. Christmas morning. Yeah. It's like looking at all the tools and sharp things.

Hannah / Eryn:

When you get down there, it's just like stone walls with the little gas lamps hanging up, and lanterns around the room. And then there's a big crafting table that's made of, like, heavy stone. So it's, like, really, really durable, and then just tons of little nooks and crannies full of shit to make, like, a giant if you imagine, like, the ultimate medieval fantasy craft room. That's what this is. And then Holly tried to make it cute, so she painted a few of the big, stones in the wall different bright colors just to bring a little bit of color.

Hannah / Eryn:

And it

Tara / Journey:

just made it creepier.

Hannah / Eryn:

It's just, like, really haunted looking weird. Just fucking cursed.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. Holly, I must confess. I thought I thought Uli was the coolest one, but I may have to change my mind.

Hannah / Eryn:

Aw. That means a lot, Snack. And, as she says it, she sets the dragon scale down on the table and it's just like clunk. Kinda. And it wakes on re up and he's like, Yeah.

Hannah / Eryn:

Let's, get to work. Why don't you climb up here? Alright. Arms out. And she, like, lifts his little arms up, legs apart.

Hannah / Eryn:

And then she takes out a tape measure out of her, I guess she took her apron off. So she pulls one out of a cubbyhole, and just starts, measuring him, and getting all sorts of different measurements that you wouldn't think would be, like, needed, like, kind of a comical like, that was in measurements. And she just remembers everything, so she doesn't need to write any of it down. And she's like, okay. Here's what we're gonna have to do.

Hannah / Eryn:

And she draws a little sketch of a breastplate that has a front and a back with some, little etchings that are almost like I don't wanna say ruins, but it's kind of the same concept for her transmutation magic. She, like, can imbue spells with, like, the designs that she has on things. And so but she usually does with just, like, leather or more mundane things. But she's doing it on this dragon scale, to, like, amp up the protection, and then she is going to, ask Nick, is there any sort of special thing you want this to do?

Speaker 7:

And he's looking over the drawing. During measurements, he was, like, trying to lean into them and flex as much as possible to be

Tim / GM:

as big as he could. Gotta have that room to grow.

Speaker 7:

He looks it over and is, very happy with, the illustration.

Speaker 8:

The only thing, Holly, is I need a place to keep the knife you gave me, the dagger.

Hannah / Eryn:

Well, if we have room for your wings here, and she shows on the

Speaker 7:

back Yes. Of course. Yes.

Hannah / Eryn:

And your tail Mhmm. We can probably fit a little knife slot right next to it. Left handed or right handed?

Speaker 7:

He falls off the table and sits

Speaker 8:

in the white shirt.

Tara / Journey:

He's looking at his hands, and he's like, which one is which?

Tim / GM:

Tell me your secrets.

Hannah / Eryn:

Maybe we'll put it on both sides.

Speaker 8:

Ah, I see.

Hannah / Eryn:

Just in case.

Speaker 8:

Sometimes it's nice to stab with the left just to feel different. Right handed. Right? Okay.

Hannah / Eryn:

Perfect. Alright. Well, I can get to work on this right away. I'm not sure how long it'll take me. I haven't ever worked with Dragonscale before.

Hannah / Eryn:

If there's any leftovers, are you okay if I keep some of the scraps?

Speaker 8:

Yes. And it will not cost you your wish.

Hannah / Eryn:

Aw. Well, thanks. Holly's like, okay. That's all I need.

Speaker 8:

Thank you.

Hannah / Eryn:

Good boy. Why don't you grow up and grab some hero's feast? I mean, tea. And Holly starts kind of, measuring up the scale and doing some clinking Clink. Yeah.

Hannah / Eryn:

A little clink sounds.

Speaker 7:

Snacks, Scampers up the stairs, taking a good look at all the different tools and stuff for later, potentially. And then heads upstairs.

Tim / GM:

I mean, it's like a room full of torture devices in your mind. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Upstairs, Uli is sipping a very tiny cup of tea and feeling so uncomfortable.

Tara / Journey:

Just taking up both seats in the loveseat and sipping this tiny tea. Like,

Hannah / Eryn:

there's like a crystal lamp. You keep nudging accidentally, like, dings. Like when you hit

Speaker 4:

it, I knocked a table over just the walls feel like they're closing in on me. Does anyone else feel too big or too small?

Tim / GM:

Sitting there talking to Tibio and Bert. Yeah.

Thomas / Guy:

I actually don't have that problem.

Speaker 4:

I, I fumble for my tantrum tankard to get rid of the panic.

Speaker 5:

Uli, why don't we go outside? I, Holly said that the garden was very nice.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. That sounds good. I'm, like, hyperventilating.

Tara / Journey:

I gently take Uli's hand with my skeleton hand, and I, like, walk with her out the back door.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. The, the tankard kinda like makes it all okay and you step outside with Tibio.

Speaker 5:

Thanks. No problem.

Tim / GM:

Bert, left inside kinda to your own devices for a second. You can't help but think of the upcoming court case.

Speaker 8:

Mhmm.

Tim / GM:

Your hearing is on Sunday. It is currently Monday.

Thomas / Guy:

Great.

Tim / GM:

So you've got just almost a week to get this figured out. This is the current status of your court case. Normally, when a crime is, or or, you know, a case is presented to the judges, when it gets to the 2nd court, if they have a unanimous decision on whether something should be, escalated or sent to arbitration or judged immediately. If there's a unanimous vote, they can pass it on their own. But, when you were pulled in, there was a dissenting opinion.

Tim / GM:

Judge Tonberry and Judge Flann both thought you guilty. Judge Malboro did not. And it was sent to arbitration. That is what's coming up on Sunday.

Thomas / Guy:

You're going to

Tim / GM:

be in a room with 300 citizens, and you need a 2 thirds vote to get your innocence.

Thomas / Guy:

Great. Holly, before I leave the house again, I just I feel like everywhere I go in this town, everybody is looking at me.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. It's weird.

Thomas / Guy:

I wondered if, we could use your workshop and maybe whip me up some sort of disguise.

Hannah / Eryn:

Costume party?

Thomas / Guy:

That's not exactly what I had in mind.

Hannah / Eryn:

The disguise. The disguise. Right? Be a little more

Thomas / Guy:

look like other guys.

Hannah / Eryn:

Other guys? Okay. If you're sure.

Thomas / Guy:

I was sure until

Tara / Journey:

you started talking about that.

Hannah / Eryn:

I have some really, really good outfits that are gnome size. But I think I might only have, you know, a little some dresses.

Speaker 4:

Yes. Or I

Hannah / Eryn:

have this banana costume.

Thomas / Guy:

I feel like I'm gonna get more looks in the banana costume.

Hannah / Eryn:

That's probably true. Well, you know, if we, if you could shave your mustache, you'd actually be a pretty cute little little lady here. We'll get you, dressed up in a little bit of drag, some makeup. Poof. They'll never know it was you.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, that is the goal. Do your worst, Holly.

Speaker 8:

Oh, no. I want to

Speaker 7:

do it. Snack comes up with a tiger. Oh, god.

Tara / Journey:

A tiger.

Thomas / Guy:

You want to be the one to disguise me?

Speaker 8:

If it that's what it means to cut off your mustache, then yes. And may I keep it, Bert?

Hannah / Eryn:

No. No one's keeping anyone's mustache hair.

Speaker 8:

Why not?

Hannah / Eryn:

Because I can just prestigitation it off. Can I? Can I do that? Is that something you can do with that spell?

Tim / GM:

No. That's a hard limitation to prestigitation. No shade. No shade. Hair removal.

Hannah / Eryn:

Okay. Snack? Do your worst.

Thomas / Guy:

Do you have any shaving cream or anything?

Speaker 8:

What is this?

Hannah / Eryn:

I mean, I have some cream.

Speaker 7:

We have healing portions, Bert. I wouldn't be so worried.

Thomas / Guy:

I just don't wanna look like a lady with a cut up face is all.

Tara / Journey:

It's okay.

Hannah / Eryn:

You can

Speaker 4:

borrow my razor.

Tim / GM:

Oh, god.

Speaker 4:

I have to shave daily.

Tim / GM:

Yep. The the razor that Uli's had since she was 9. The very same one. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Would you prefer that or the weird dagger that Snack carries?

Speaker 8:

It's not weird. It's standard. I feel like

Thomas / Guy:

there's no winners here. Snack, get it off or with.

Speaker 7:

Alright. One quick swipe. I, grab, the mustache hair and I'm really close to his face. And I'm,

Speaker 8:

Bert, are you sure about this? This is a a valuable part of your identity.

Thomas / Guy:

I'm sure Snack, and I trust you. I put my hand on his shoulder, and I cast, guidance on him.

Tim / GM:

Oh my god.

Speaker 7:

Okay.

Thomas / Guy:

So you can add a d 4 to this role, and I wish you would.

Speaker 7:

Yeah. So I will use the, sick looking knife because it seems the sharpest.

Tim / GM:

Yeah.

Speaker 7:

And, yeah, with that, I I have this moment of clarity as I cut in it. I'm much more gracious than I would have been otherwise. You know, rather than, you know, ripping it off, I'll just kind of let let the knife guide through it.

Tim / GM:

Yes. Yeah. Let the let the edge do the work.

Speaker 7:

Like a tiny Gordon Ramsay. I I cut the mustache off her cleanly and quickly. I'll try it.

Tim / GM:

Well, yeah.

Speaker 7:

We'll see.

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. Yeah. Alright.

Speaker 7:

14 base proficient. Okay. 1720. 20. Wow.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Much better than I thought.

Speaker 4:

It was

Tara / Journey:

a furry 20.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. A furry 20.

Tim / GM:

Bert, you, you close your eyes when snack gets close. And you can you can feel his, his hot cobalt breath on you. And, he pulls half of your mustache taut and, kind of slides the dagger through it. And you just hear the lightest, I guess, twang of the blade, as the hair falls away. And it's just half of it's gone, and it was painless.

Tim / GM:

Oh. And then he moves to the other half. Wow. And just very cleanly slices through it. You open your eyes for just a second, and you can see him, like, grinning like he's about to explode.

Tim / GM:

And you just close your eyes again.

Thomas / Guy:

I'm, like, patting my face. Oh, he did it. I mean, of course, he did it. Great job, Snack.

Speaker 7:

Snack walks around and, is checking out everything else about, Bert. Bert, the back of

Speaker 8:

your head there is a little long as well. Do you have any other plans this weekend?

Speaker 7:

And he tries to cut the back of his hair. So I'm cleaning up his neckline. You know, just making it up. Not like

Tim / GM:

Not like cutting more hair. Okay.

Speaker 7:

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Tim / GM:

Continuing to barber. Okay.

Speaker 4:

Are you a good barber?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. What happened? Snack yeah. Just takes on this, this new kind of persona. It's actually kind of, calming, and you get the little shivers.

Tim / GM:

Mhmm. Or

Thomas / Guy:

I pick up a mirror that Holly has nearby, and I'd say, Snack, you might have a new profession in mind for you.

Hannah / Eryn:

You know, it actually doesn't surprise me that you're good at this. Good job, Snack.

Speaker 8:

Thank you.

Hannah / Eryn:

Alright. Let me, bring you upstairs real quick, Bert, and we'll get you suited up. Holly, pushes him up the stairs, and finds him the gnome the gnome part of her closet where she just has some extra clothes and stuff, and pieces. Alright. We can go a fancy dinner date gnome, maybe first date outfit.

Hannah / Eryn:

Okay. Or I have, just like casual schoolgirl gnome, going to class. Schoolgirl. Yeah. So what are you feeling?

Tim / GM:

Well, what

Thomas / Guy:

do you think? What do you think I can pull off?

Hannah / Eryn:

Well, we're definitely gonna need a little bit of makeup and a maybe a wig too or a hat. Holly, pulls out a little beret and puts it on his hat, and I'm like, schoolgirl, no. And pulls out this little, like, uniform, that's very cute. It has a little necktie, and, like, a sweater vest with, like, cute little frilly, sleeves and then a little schoolgirl, like, pleated skirt.

Speaker 4:

Like, he's back at the academy. Yep.

Tara / Journey:

I am deceased.

Hannah / Eryn:

And wool stockings and little cute shoes that go with it, Mary Jane shoes. So the whole outfit and the break covers the, you know, hair, like, the shorter hair, whatever. So Holly is, like, change into this really quick. And she steps out of the room so he can change.

Tim / GM:

It's it all it all fits surprisingly well. It's pretty comfortable.

Hannah / Eryn:

And Holly knocks slightly, and she says, all already?

Thomas / Guy:

I'm ready.

Hannah / Eryn:

She opens the door. It's like, and he's like, oh, you're so cute.

Thomas / Guy:

He's, like, got his hands clasped in front of him and he's, like

Tara / Journey:

Doing the foot kicked out

Hannah / Eryn:

by us.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Yeah.

Thomas / Guy:

Like, real shy.

Hannah / Eryn:

Shy school girl. Yeah. Holly, just picks up a little bit of, like, powder and, like, some makeup stuff and just does a quick little touch up, with a little bit of magic in view to try to just, like, help, like, cover up the manliness of his gnome face, but, turns him into a beautiful little baby girl gnome.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Bert, you you barely recognize yourself looking in the mirror. Wow.

Hannah / Eryn:

For walking in the library with your boyfriend.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh, great.

Hannah / Eryn:

I made them for, another, you know, teenage gnome. She wanted to escape from class every now and then.

Tara / Journey:

That's some prep school nonsense.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. I'm

Speaker 4:

I'm gonna have to draw this, aren't I?

Tim / GM:

Yes, please.

Speaker 5:

Yeah. Well,

Thomas / Guy:

guess I gotta work on the persona now. Yep.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yep. That's all up to you.

Speaker 7:

Hello.

Tara / Journey:

Tibio comes in from outside and is looking for everyone.

Speaker 5:

Snake, Holly, Bert, where are you?

Speaker 7:

I don't know where the mustache is. What?

Speaker 4:

The mustache.

Hannah / Eryn:

Holly hears her name, and she comes bolting down the stairs. She's like, okay, everyone. Are you ready?

Speaker 5:

Ready for what?

Hannah / Eryn:

Alright. Come on out, Bertolli.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Here I go.

Tara / Journey:

Berta is a name.

Hannah / Eryn:

Her name is Bertolli. Berta for short. It's Bertolli.

Speaker 4:

We aren't sponsored by

Tara / Journey:

Bertolli. Bertolli.

Tim / GM:

Bertolli, mother of piezo.

Tara / Journey:

Mama.

Speaker 4:

Mama.

Thomas / Guy:

Hello. Pleased to meet you. I'm Bertolli.

Speaker 5:

Oh, it is, it is nice to meet you, Bertolli. I I don't have you seen our friend Bert?

Speaker 4:

Tibia, it's me, Bert. Oh my god. I walk back upstairs.

Tim / GM:

Okay. And so So

Speaker 4:

do you wanna do the lazy thing?

Thomas / Guy:

I just realized I said I'd go to the library where I work.

Hannah / Eryn:

Well, no one's gonna recognize you with this disguise, Bertolli.

Thomas / Guy:

How do I get in though? I have to have to know who I am.

Speaker 5:

Is there guest access? Are there tours that they do?

Tim / GM:

There's there there is guest access, and there are tours.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. Well, just, take the your clothes with you. Here. Here's a little, book bag. And then you can just change when you get there before you go up to get in.

Thomas / Guy:

K. Yeah. That should work. And I'll change again before the the, guild meeting.

Hannah / Eryn:

Unfortunately, you'll have to keep the makeup on, but you'll just be a very pretty no man for a little bit.

Thomas / Guy:

That would be fine.

Hannah / Eryn:

The spell also will only last temporarily, so I did my best.

Tim / GM:

Got it. Like, a pumpkin at midnight kind of situation?

Hannah / Eryn:

The makeup just becomes normal makeup after a

Tim / GM:

while. I didn't

Speaker 8:

realize it was a spell.

Tim / GM:

The mascara starts to run after a few hours. So it is, Tibeo and Bert. Yeah?

Thomas / Guy:

Yep. Yes. Yes. Alright. Tibio, to the librarian.

Speaker 5:

Yes. To the librarian. I'm very excited.

Tim / GM:

The, it's it's quite a walk to the librarian. You have to get to the very heart of town, which, Tildry is built on a river that runs through the dead center of town, and, kinda divides things up. At the at the mouth of that river where it meets this giant lake is where the librarian is. As you approach, you see 3 dark rectangular towers reaching hundreds of feet high, each levitating perfectly still just inches above the surface of the lake. A network of long bridges connects the main road to the towers and all along the three towers, mobile bridges levitate into place to accommodate scholars crossing between towers at any level.

Tim / GM:

As you cross into the Tower of Knowledge, you see an elegant stone and marble hall, with endless adjacent hallways branching off of it. So it's it's actually it's it's kind of a mind boggling, like, you look up and the buildings are hazy kinda thing in the distance.

Tara / Journey:

Tibio is absolutely in awe. I'm wandering around walking like backwards and sideways and looking behind me and above me and around. And

Hannah / Eryn:

You, like, walk out of your bones once and then back in.

Speaker 5:

But this is this is where you work?

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. I've been working here for a while now. No big deal. This Not too shabby. Right?

Speaker 5:

This is incredible.

Tim / GM:

From any direction is always there's a little bit of a gap, sometimes 2, sometimes 6 inches, that goes directly down to the lake. So each of these three towers are actually floating, levitating. So they're never actually connected to anything.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh, before I make it in here, be sure to watch this last step.

Speaker 5:

What about the steps?

Tara / Journey:

And I'm just walking and looking around, and, my excella foot slides right in that gap and stops at the knee Yeah.

Tim / GM:

Bone. Yeah.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh, yep. See, that'll happen. You don't get this cool levitating trick without, I mean, it's not perfect.

Speaker 5:

Okay.

Tara / Journey:

Here I'll And we fish my whole leg out of there.

Tim / GM:

And, yeah. You you get pulled up, and there's an attendant kind of standing at the front of the main archway. And he looks at both of you and says, mind the gap.

Thomas / Guy:

Thanks, Vad.

Tim / GM:

And, yeah. You guys, walk into the tower of knowledge. So when you when you go in, it's it's pretty, overwhelming. Everyone here you can tell is a wizard or sorcerer or warlock in some capacity. And, the first person you see is this elderly half orc, that's that's, got this train of of young students, behind him, probably prospective librarian students.

Tim / GM:

And, the half orc turns and gestures and he says, the magic used to protect the librarian is second to none. You may ask yourself, in a city with a 1,000 wizards, where arson is a weekly occurrence, how does our library of ancient paper survive? And, he takes a couple steps, does this big smirk and looks at a nearby bookshelf.

Thomas / Guy:

You're gonna love this, Teddioc.

Tim / GM:

He utters the incantation for fireball, and he, like, whips out a hand, and you see this little bead, this little red orb, expand into a giant fireball and threaten to swallow this bookshelf, and the whole crowd. And, as soon as the, fire connects with the bookshelf, you see it all immediately turn to a white mist, and it just kind of stops in midair, and then all sinks to the ground and just kind of disperses. Yeah. If you've ever seen dry ice, it's pretty much that effect.

Speaker 5:

Oh, man, dear. That was incredible. That was fantastic.

Tim / GM:

The half orc gives himself a self satisfied smirk and says, instantaneous countermeasure of elemental energy, otherwise known as icy, has been saving our bacon against fire for ages. He, looks at the 2 of you and he says, here for the tour?

Thomas / Guy:

Nope. I'm an old timer. First time here for this guy though.

Tim / GM:

He, turns to you and he says, Engelbert, welcome back to the librarian. Tell us of your recent adventures and and tell us how the librarian helped prepare you for such adventures.

Thomas / Guy:

No sneak peeks, norp.

Speaker 4:

I can come up with the name.

Hannah / Eryn:

Norp is the best Norf is the best name.

Tara / Journey:

So far.

Thomas / Guy:

You gotta you gotta read it all in my report once it gets published.

Tim / GM:

Yes. Always on your grind, aren't you, Bert? That's right. Well, class, you would be excited to read any of Bert's pieces. He's a fantastic author.

Thomas / Guy:

You're too kind, Norp.

Tim / GM:

Oh, and, Bert, before I forget, you've got a few things in your locker. It's it's getting a little, overflowing, actually.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh, that's right. I think I left some stuff in there. Overflowing, though.

Tim / GM:

You kind of notice that, the students are kind of enraptured with you. Their attention faded pretty quickly from the fireball escapade, and, they've kind of been settled on you ever since. And you notice as you depart from this small group that you've actually got a semicircle of students that are kind of ganging around you.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, let's go, Tipyo. These, these young lads are all impressed to see an official scribe of the librarian, but, we've got our own business to attend to.

Tara / Journey:

Oh, Bert, you must be very important to have

Speaker 5:

so much attention on you.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, I don't know about that, but I I've got some notoriety here.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. You pass by a plaque that says, like, Engelbert f f Wisher Spoon, like, author of the month. There's, like, 3 of them in a row.

Hannah / Eryn:

He's got no morality. Oh.

Tara / Journey:

Oh. Oh. Heck.

Tim / GM:

Before you guys continue, you can stop by the dormitory lockers and pick up whatever they were talking about. So in there, you actually don't see much that wasn't in there before, so you're not sure what he was talking about. But, you've got your 100 gold emergency fund that you keep in your locker at all times. You've got your set of quills, inks, and, some paper that is much too nice to ever write on. But the one thing that you didn't remember seeing before was a folded, sort of, distressed looking piece of paper, a letter that's been written to you.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, this is I don't remember this. Let's take a look.

Tim / GM:

Scanning it up and down, you see that it's from Brax.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh my god. It's from Brax.

Speaker 5:

Isn't that the dead friend?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Bert, there's only a small chance this is gonna reach you, and I don't wanna say how it even got to you, but there's something you need to know. Judge Tonberry is disappearing people. At first, the disappearances seem disconnected, but I made a discovery. The people going missing are a resistance group.

Tim / GM:

They're curse breakers. And apparently, they were onto something big. I met a woman named Samantha Barrow. She was a young curse breaker from the farms. She and her little brother were prolific agricultural magicians and they even planned to release some of their homebrew spells for the librarian.

Tim / GM:

But something happened. She disappeared in the dead of night, and no one's heard from her. I haven't been around that place again, but I'm being tailed by 2 smug looking dwarves all day every day. I'm not gonna be able to look into this anymore, but I was hoping you could. PS, wash your hands after handling this letter.

Thomas / Guy:

Holy smokes, Stivio. This is important evidence.

Speaker 5:

Did it say something about curse breakers?

Thomas / Guy:

It did.

Speaker 5:

I thought they were very rare. I I thought that I thought that Veronica and Augustus were the last of their kind.

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. I don't know how many are still still out there, but you know Samantha Barrow, the other girl who died we stayed at the house? She was one too.

Speaker 5:

Do you think her family knew?

Thomas / Guy:

I don't know. It seemed like that would be a hard thing to hide, but she might have been part of this resistance group that Uli's family's involved in. This is all, oh, it's a lot, Tibio.

Speaker 5:

Didn't Uli say that there were dwarves with her sister when she saw her?

Tim / GM:

Oh, you're right.

Speaker 5:

Maybe all of this is connected.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, if Uli's sister's anything like her, she can probably take care of herself better than Brax. But, yeah, this is deep, man.

Speaker 5:

Is the judge one of the judges in your trial?

Thomas / Guy:

Yeah. Tom Berry. They're the piece of work who maybe they took care of Barrow. I don't know. They've been up to a lot of shady stuff.

Speaker 5:

We need to tell the rest of the group about this. I I don't know. Maybe maybe maybe I should not be a lawyer. Maybe I should be a detective.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, we've definitely got a lot of investigating to do. That's part of why we're here.

Speaker 5:

I'm sure Uli will know some answers as well.

Thomas / Guy:

Alright. Maybe we should have our that bone display. But first, to the bathroom. To wash my hands.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. The 2 of you continue into the archives of history. And, Tibeo, this is a place that you've probably dreamed about before without even knowing that it existed. But it is this, like, so dramatically lit, rectangular kind of, long hallway, that culminates with this mammoth like creature at the end of it. A full skeleton, complete with tusks and a gigantic hulking rib cage and and femurs thicker than your thighs.

Tim / GM:

It's, it's it's a lot, it's kind of all your favorite things. So these these exhibits, they demonstrate, like, how people used to do things, but they use skeletons instead of wax models, with those with but they're actually bones from those civilizations. And it, like, shows a little different parts of history.

Tara / Journey:

So Tibio steps into this room, and it's so bright. And he puts one hand above his eyes. Like, it's just too bright. Like, he he can't even look at it. It's so bright.

Tara / Journey:

And then he slowly makes his way down the hallway as he's feeling the, like, the age of these bones. He's not even seeing them really. He's feeling them. Mhmm. And, he walks down and at every skeleton he stops and he just closes his eyes and takes a moment and, like, reaches out with his powers, with his magic and just, like, gets a feel for whatever this person was.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. It's like it's like discovering a new book series that you're just in love with, and then you look ahead and realize that there's 17 more books

Tara / Journey:

in the series,

Tim / GM:

and they're all 800 pages long. There's so much to absorb here. And, you start to feel this sort of sensation of guilt because you're not sure what Bert is really getting out of this, after you're in there for 15 minutes or so. And then something different happens that I don't think either of you planned on. You hear a noise, coming from kind of where you came in, And, you turn expecting to see someone, but you don't.

Tim / GM:

You just heard a noise. And then a few moments later, you hear another noise, and it's getting more frequent. And out of the corner of your eye, you're starting to see movement of some kind. And before you know it, this chamber kind of erupts in a cacophony of clattering bones. And everything around you, every skeleton, every animal, and every humanoid form in here is just rattling and shivering like mad, like castnets and maracas, and it's just kind of a it's it's really, you can't even hear each other at that point, and you're just sort of, standing back to back.

Thomas / Guy:

Thabiel, this you, pal?

Hannah / Eryn:

But I'm not doing this. What is it?

Thomas / Guy:

I think it usually doesn't do this.

Tara / Journey:

And I send out my magic to try and get a sense of what it is. Can I pinpoint it?

Tim / GM:

It I mean, it's it's coming from kind of, all around you, but it's all reaching out towards you. And so when you go to reach out, you just kind of establish connections to everything that's in here, and it's, like, too much and you instantly feel the need to back away from it.

Tara / Journey:

I lose track of my own housing skeleton Yeah. And it kinda clutters to the floor and I drop to the floor and I fall on my little butt. And, I put my hands on my head and I'm trying to, like, find my way out of the pressure of it.

Thomas / Guy:

Mhmm. Mhmm.

Tara / Journey:

But still trying to figure out what

Tim / GM:

it is. Yeah. You're like this perfectly levitated magnet of necromantic energy where you're just hovering in the center of all of it.

Thomas / Guy:

I kinda don't know what to do, so I'm just kinda gathering up the loose notes.

Tim / GM:

And, Bert, you feel the bones kind of pull away from you as Tibio's skeleton stands by itself. Yeah. And it looks at Tibio. And some of the skeletons from around the room start marching in towards the center, and then you hear the mammoth take a huge step towards you, and then you see it kind of lower its head at the 2 of you. And then you look around and you see the other skeletons lower their head, and you see Tibio's skeleton kneel in front of Tibio.

Tim / GM:

And everything just goes silent with every skeleton stuck in a kneeling position.

Thomas / Guy:

I I think you should address that.

Speaker 5:

I I don't know what to do, Barb. I don't know what to do. I,

Thomas / Guy:

Try swinging swinging your hands around when you talk. I

Tara / Journey:

cast animate dead kinda into the space. Not at anything in particular.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Your animate dead, without a direction, it it it clings on to the most familiar, easiest target, which is your own skeleton. And suddenly you feel the ship is kind of righted again. Nothing's fighting you. Nothing's reaching out to you.

Tim / GM:

And it's just eerily still and quiet. And and a moment passes like that, where things seem like they're back to normal, even though everything's out of place, and then you hear footsteps in the front of the room, and you see a delightfully dressed attendant say, what the hell happened here?

Thomas / Guy:

Hey. Are these these boats supposed to do this?

Tara / Journey:

I'm not even paying attention really. I land back in my my own skeleton and, I reach out with my hand hand hands Mhmm. To the mammoth Mhmm. Skeleton Mhmm. To, like, touch it.

Tim / GM:

It just feels like plain old bones to you.

Speaker 4:

Weird. Yeah.

Speaker 5:

But it all feels normal now. I don't know what happened. I I guess I should put them back. I don't know.

Thomas / Guy:

Is there some way to communicate with them?

Speaker 5:

It's all quiet now.

Tim / GM:

And you guys spend a little while here kind of testing the waters and trying to figure out what's going on. And nothing of that magnitude or anything like that happens. I mean, Tibia is able to control these bones like any other bones, but that seems to be the end of it. Yeah. Back at Holly's abode, what is Snack doing when more or less left alone?

Speaker 7:

He is trying to grab one, piece of Sharp stuff from the basement at a time. I don't know if Holly notices. He he just keeps coming in and, like, oh, still working on

Speaker 8:

a tally? Oh, I see.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. She probably doesn't notice. She's pretty, excited about working with the dragon scale because she hasn't before. And so she's just, like, really into her project. She's like, oh, yeah, Snack.

Hannah / Eryn:

It's gonna be a couple days. Oh, geez. And she's, like, not paying attention to them at all.

Tara / Journey:

Just humming. Mhmm.

Speaker 7:

Okay. So after he grabbing, enough, dangerous utensils, he takes them all out into the backyard and, looks for a good place to make a trap.

Tim / GM:

So Oh, god. Yeah. I mean, like, you see, like, right by the there's, like, a back gate that goes into the backyard. Okay. And if there are intruders, they're gonna use this gate.

Speaker 8:

I must protect Holly's house.

Speaker 7:

So I start digging a hole by where the gate is.

Tim / GM:

While you're digging, you're, you're kind of, like, halfway in the ground yourself as you continue to dig this hole. And, you, you feel a buzzing at your hip.

Speaker 7:

I get out of the hole, and I, find some bushes to hide in and then take out

Tim / GM:

the lamp. And change into your super suit. You, you take out the lamp and it's just, when you look into it, it's just Genie's eyeball kind of pressed against the opening. And he says, snack. Yes, Genie.

Tim / GM:

I need to call a house meeting.

Speaker 8:

I am quite dirty. I don't yes.

Tim / GM:

I'll I'll put out the dirty rug.

Speaker 7:

Okay. I look around and, hop into the lamp.

Tim / GM:

Okay. So, yeah, he's he's got this dirty rug out. That's whenever you need to be soiled and don't wanna get clean, this is the rug that he uses.

Speaker 4:

Most of the time.

Tim / GM:

They sell most of the time. Yeah. Okay.

Tara / Journey:

Some Murphy rug, he just pulls it out of the side and comes the entryway.

Tim / GM:

But, Jeanie has set up a long table in here. And, he's at one end of it, and then he's got a glass of water at the other end, and an empty chair. And he says, have a seat, please.

Speaker 8:

Okay.

Speaker 7:

I I Snack goes to sit down.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. There's just like a long drawn out of, like, noise of you pulling the chair back. Like

Speaker 8:

Jamie, I haven't killed anything,

Speaker 7:

in a while. So Oh. We haven't

Tim / GM:

had this conversation. No. Of course not. You're not in trouble. Don't worry, my friend.

Speaker 8:

Good. Please have some water. He's drink some

Tim / GM:

of the water. Is there anything else I could get for you, snack? Anything at all?

Speaker 8:

Snack is fine. He has everything he needs.

Tim / GM:

That's great. It's good to have everything you need, isn't it, Snack?

Speaker 7:

Snack, glances side to side and looks at all the random treasure and shit that he just, like, grabbed over the

Speaker 8:

pieces on the surface.

Tim / GM:

Yes. You've accumulated quite a good, wealth of, material here.

Speaker 8:

Treasures.

Tim / GM:

Yes. Treasures indeed. I agree, Zack.

Speaker 8:

I will be getting more, but we are running a low profile because Bert is a murderer and we're trying not to get caught.

Tim / GM:

That sounds incredibly stressful. Yes. Snack, I, Snack, are you in Tilderie?

Speaker 8:

Yes, Genie. Yes. We are in Tilderie. I got a stamp of so I could cast spells here.

Speaker 7:

And I hold up my arm.

Tim / GM:

He sees the kind of messy double stamp tattoo that you got. And, he says, Childry, indeed. I'm I'm glad for you, snack. This is this is fantastic. Snack, we are good friends, aren't we?

Speaker 8:

Of course, Genie. Yes. We are the closest of allies.

Tim / GM:

We've done pretty incredible things for each other. Do you remember that time I made 600 pillows?

Speaker 8:

I do. Yes. Still have some in the treasure pile.

Tim / GM:

Snack. Tildry is a very special place. I see. Yes. In Tildry, there are 3 big, big buildings.

Tim / GM:

They're called the librarian. Have you heard of it?

Speaker 8:

Yes. Burton Sibio went there. I believe it sounded, dumb. It sounded dumb.

Tim / GM:

Yes. Very very dumb. And and, Snack, do you know what's inside the librarian?

Speaker 8:

Yes. Books. And?

Speaker 7:

More And?

Speaker 8:

I no. I don't. What?

Tim / GM:

Inside the librarian snack is a lot a lot of magic. Oh. In fact, there exists, what is known as a font of magic.

Speaker 8:

What? Really?

Tim / GM:

Well, snack, you know, sometimes you cast a few too many spells in a day and, well, that's all you've got, isn't it? Right. Yes. What if there was a place you could go to get all of those spells back every day as many times as you wanted? I see.

Tim / GM:

Now snack. I'm not asking you to hurt anyone, I'm just asking you to get me to this fountain so that I can have a sip.

Speaker 8:

So what a fountain in a library.

Tim / GM:

Yes. Yes.

Speaker 8:

Can I ask Berta about this place? Would it be suspicious to ask?

Tim / GM:

Well, if Bert is no stranger to the fountain, perhaps he could even get you there.

Speaker 8:

I will find Bert for you.

Tim / GM:

I need to make something clear, Snack. What? You're not to hurt anyone to get to this fountain. What we're doing is a victimless crime. I just need a sip from the fountain.

Speaker 8:

But, of course, if we need to hurt someone to protect the mission, I will not hurt anyone, Jeanie, unless I get angry.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Why don't you have why don't you have Bert talk to me before you begin your adventure?

Speaker 8:

You don't need to talk to Bert. No. I will relay this information to Bert. It is fine. I trust you, Snack.

Speaker 8:

Please do good. Of course, I will do good. Now I need to go back to making this trap in the backyard. So if you don't mind, Genie

Thomas / Guy:

Genie it's

Speaker 8:

a it's a it's a in case anyone comes to intrude in Holly's What do you mean? Abode. So they fall in the trap and they get stabbed with spikes. It's going to be perfect. Holly

Hannah / Eryn:

will be

Tim / GM:

so pleased. Okay. Now snack. I I think it's snack. Snack.

Tim / GM:

Yes.

Speaker 7:

I am busy. Bye bye.

Speaker 4:

I come back from the farm

Tim / GM:

Yeah. And

Speaker 4:

walk through the back

Tim / GM:

gate. Yeah. Make a dexterity savings throw.

Tara / Journey:

Does does a snack have to roll for Yeah.

Tim / GM:

Oh, yeah. Well, okay. I think that's your

Thomas / Guy:

passive perception. I don't know.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. What is your passive perception? So,

Speaker 4:

Plus 2.

Tim / GM:

So 12, I think? Yeah. Okay. I don't know how that works. So, snack, give me a a trap making rule.

Speaker 7:

So, yeah, I didn't even see trap making in the book, so I don't really know what it would be. Okay. I don't think traps I don't think Snack is actually good at making traps. Yeah. But he enjoys doing it.

Speaker 7:

Sure.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Can they call traps?

Thomas / Guy:

Be the same kind of thing as, like Crafting. The rogue, like

Speaker 4:

Uh-huh.

Thomas / Guy:

What's it called?

Tim / GM:

Like Sleight of hand?

Thomas / Guy:

No. The the, like, bucket.

Tim / GM:

Oh, yeah. Yeah. Like, tools and

Tara / Journey:

stuff like that.

Speaker 7:

Yeah. I do have, thieves tools and thieves tools proficiency. So I don't know if

Thomas / Guy:

That might Yeah.

Speaker 7:

Fit? Trap making is probably its own thing.

Thomas / Guy:

You could make that argument.

Tim / GM:

Well, anyway, I'd say it's intelligence.

Speaker 8:

Okay.

Speaker 7:

Yeah. 17 with no proficiency. Okay.

Tim / GM:

So, Uli, let's go back to that dexterity save.

Hannah / Eryn:

I believe it was

Speaker 4:

a 16.

Tim / GM:

Okay. What did

Tara / Journey:

you say?

Tim / GM:

A pit with spikes? Yeah. Okay. So so Yeah. Actually, with the 16 Uli, that's actually pretty good.

Tim / GM:

So you you open the gate and you take, like, one big step and then just kind of, like, fall straight forward, but, like, springing your arms out and kind of catch yourself on the edges of this pit.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh, yeah.

Tim / GM:

And you're looking down at a bunch of sharpened sticks there, like, up at a bunch of angles. Mhmm. And then you see a pile of sharpened sticks that Snack just lost interest in and

Tara / Journey:

didn't plan to get done.

Speaker 8:

I'm like

Speaker 7:

So Snack, steps out and of into the backyard. He wasn't done with the trap fully. And he's got some of the tea and he tastes it. And it's really hot and it scares him, so he throws it. And then he sees Uli.

Tim / GM:

Uli. And

Speaker 7:

then he tries to sneak back into the house.

Speaker 4:

Snack. I'm

Speaker 8:

snack's not here right now, Uli.

Speaker 4:

Then leave him a message.

Speaker 8:

Yes. What's the message for snack?

Speaker 4:

He Okay. I'm back now.

Hannah / Eryn:

Oh, wonderful. Very good.

Tim / GM:

So, yeah. You've, you've, I think you've all momentarily, reconvened at the house so that Tibeo and Uli can, run out and see, Maisie and Henry. Yes. Or nobody said Henry, I guess.

Tara / Journey:

Mostly Maisie. Mostly Maisie. Henry is just kinda there.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. When you guys are back at the house, you just hear loud bangs coming from the basement.

Tim / GM:

Uli, you've got this sort of, sunspot in your vision now that you're kind of thinking like, Mayzie,

Tara / Journey:

where

Tim / GM:

is she at? And, you think of that ring that you gave her, and you've got this little glowing speck that's kind of alternating yellow and blue, that helps you trace it down. And it gets a little bigger and broader in your vision as you approach a school. You hear a large, bell go off, a big kind of like, ding dang. And, you see a bunch of delighted kids, running down the steps of this school as they're all released from class for the day.

Tim / GM:

And, they're all kind of, sprinting off in their separate ways to go back home. And, you see, Maisie is kind of, I think Maisie is talking to a teacher as she's walking out of the place. And, she, like, takes one look at you guys and sees the 2 of you standing there and, like, rubs both of her eyes and then looks back up at the teacher, says something quickly, and then sprints over the 2 of you.

Tara / Journey:

Tibia's waving.

Tim / GM:

She she, gets up to you pretty much out of breath, and, she just she's smiling up at both of you beaming, and she reaches out a hand to shake Tibios.

Hannah / Eryn:

It is so good to

Speaker 5:

see you, Maisie. How are you?

Tim / GM:

'Sup, kid? You guys came back.

Speaker 4:

Of course.

Speaker 5:

We would not leave you behind.

Tim / GM:

Are you here to take me home from school?

Speaker 4:

Sure.

Speaker 5:

Yes, we can do that.

Speaker 4:

I pick her up and I put her on my shoulders. Lead the way.

Tim / GM:

You guys look up at the teacher on the stairs and she just shrugs and walks away from you.

Hannah / Eryn:

There's no security.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. No. They're like, whatever. Not my responsibility.

Thomas / Guy:

Half arc and a bone man.

Speaker 4:

Seems legit.

Tim / GM:

And and Maisie is just gushing about Tildrey. So you're kind of following along the river walk back to the bricks, and she's pointing at all the different places. She says, that's the work wheel. Dad used to work there before he was investigator, and, and that's the bricks. That's where we live.

Tim / GM:

And, Investigator? Yeah. Dad's investigator. He he finds people, that did bad, and, he makes him go to jail.

Speaker 5:

Oh. How long It's

Speaker 4:

an important job.

Speaker 5:

Yes. And how long has he done that?

Tim / GM:

Most of the time. Well, I mean, that's why we travel so much is sometimes he has to go really far to get people that need to go to jail.

Speaker 4:

Uh-huh. Not just in adultery? Yeah. Okay.

Speaker 5:

Does he work for the courts?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. He works for the tower of law.

Speaker 4:

Even more important. Yes.

Tara / Journey:

Tibia and Uli make surprised eye contact and mirror each other's facial expressions of surprise.

Tim / GM:

She says, did you guys see all the lamps in the cave on the way here? Wasn't that cool?

Speaker 4:

Oh, we took, like, a back way through.

Tim / GM:

Oh, that's probably why it took you so long.

Speaker 5:

Yeah. Yes. Maisie, we found a secret underground castle filled with skeletons.

Tim / GM:

Like you?

Speaker 5:

Not like me. The skeletons were dwarves before they died, and they were skeletons on their own. They didn't have people in them.

Tim / GM:

Oh. Were they alive? Or were they just bones?

Speaker 5:

Yeah. No.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. She just laughs at that.

Tara / Journey:

So I'm guessing we just chit chat, shoot the shit back to

Tim / GM:

And, yeah, she's, like, vaguely pointing you, like, which road to take to get to her place.

Speaker 4:

I'm assuming she lives near Holly Some

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Kind of. It's, I mean, they're kind of on, like, opposite ends of the bricks, so that this one's actually pretty close to the the Tower of Law, so it's a pretty short commute. Yeah. You guys pop in for a second just, yeah, chat with Joe.

Tim / GM:

Chat while Oh,

Speaker 4:

god. Joe is there.

Speaker 5:

Joe is

Tara / Journey:

in here for a sec.

Tim / GM:

And we can kind of paraphrase this part. So he says that as soon as he got here, he checked in with, like, all of his contacts. Nobody by that description has come through. They looked through all of the entry paperwork here. They're trying to find like, oh, maybe he could have come in like under a different identity.

Tim / GM:

Maybe they didn't bring a wagon. And as far as he can tell, nobody by that description, nor the beetle, nor the wagon driver, or the Kobolds made it here. Henry lets you know that he's also got contacts on kind of the the the dark side of things, and that I mean, he's he's fairly sure that, at least for now, that Tildrey is effectively vaccinated from Joe.

Thomas / Guy:

I'd like to use my whisper quilt to talk to

Tim / GM:

Uli. Okay.

Thomas / Guy:

Dear Uli.

Tim / GM:

Uli, you're looking at Maisie, and Maisie smiling up at you, and then you start to see, like, a d, like like, being written into your vision. And, like, you look away, and the d is still there. You're just like like a cat, like, seeing a fly or something. You're just staring around the room. And then she

Thomas / Guy:

just sees the words. Right?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. So she sees dear Uli spelled out in her vision.

Thomas / Guy:

Dear Uli, say hi to Henry and Macy for me. See if you could ask about that counterspell ring and emeralds. Bert.

Tim / GM:

So as you get and yeah. You cross him out. As you guys are kinda finishing up the conversation, Uli, you find yourself distracted. And, and Tibia is just kind of finishing up goodbyes, and then you get this message.

Speaker 5:

Ask. So Unni and I will be going soon.

Speaker 4:

It's ship what? Calm calm her. Counter spell.

Speaker 5:

Counter spell.

Speaker 4:

Counter spell ring.

Speaker 5:

Oh.

Speaker 4:

Emer emerald. Emeralds. Emeralds. I'm sorry.

Tim / GM:

Henry shifts kinda nervous, and he says, yes. Yeah. The treasures we found on the road. Yes.

Speaker 4:

I think Bert I think Bert's talking to me. How? I really don't. I don't know, but I just I just know somehow.

Speaker 5:

Henry and Maisie, would it be okay if we borrowed the counterspell ring and the emeralds?

Tim / GM:

Maisie turns the ring around on her finger a couple times, and she goes, I don't know. It was pretty funny when I canceled Carl's prestidigitation.

Speaker 4:

I have a replacement. If we can borrow that, I have something for you.

Tim / GM:

What do you got?

Speaker 4:

This is a silver bracelet that I'm hoping isn't cursed. It is a bracelet of bad smells.

Tim / GM:

She furrows her eyebrows and she says, is it magical?

Speaker 4:

Oh, definitely. And it's a really good prank.

Tim / GM:

Henry kind of, like, takes a step towards you. Interested in, the ring all of a sudden, are

Speaker 4:

we? Temporarily.

Tim / GM:

And the emeralds? Temporarily.

Speaker 4:

Yes. Don't ask me why. I don't know. Tibio might

Tim / GM:

know? Henry, like, kneels down close to, to Maisie, and he says, would that be alright if you, gave up your treasures for a little bit and they'll give them back, I I I think?

Thomas / Guy:

Dear Tibio, I just realized I probably should have asked you instead of who we

Tara / Journey:

Tibio was like

Tim / GM:

Same condition. Yeah.

Tara / Journey:

Hands in the air trying to feel the text in front of his his face.

Speaker 4:

We are not making a

Speaker 8:

good impression.

Tara / Journey:

Waving his arms.

Thomas / Guy:

They might need the emeralds more than we do, but I mostly just address it in the ring. Sincerely bright.

Speaker 5:

I just received a message from Bart, in the air in my eyes.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. It was weird. Right?

Speaker 5:

He says that he we do not need the emeralds, but if we could borrow the ring, that would be lovely.

Tim / GM:

Well, it's up to Maisie. And she looks up at you, and she's already got it off. And she's, like, just kind of, like, smiling and holding it up to the 2 of you.

Speaker 5:

What if I trade you for this x-ray ring?

Speaker 4:

Yeah. That's cooler than this bracelet.

Tim / GM:

She shakes her head and she says, that's okay. Just make sure I get it back. Okay?

Speaker 5:

Okay. I will make sure. Uli will be able to find you whatever you are.

Tim / GM:

Henry is feeling a little bit now that you guys just came here to take magic items from his daughter. And so he kind of, Kind of wraps it up and pushes you guys out the door. Like, if that's all you need, can you please be on your way?

Speaker 4:

Maisie, I'll see you around. It was really nice to see you again.

Tim / GM:

She smiles and nods.

Speaker 5:

Bye bye. Shall we go back to Holly's house? I think it will be time for the guild meeting soon.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Alright. Dear

Thomas / Guy:

Holly, how's the armor going?

Hannah / Eryn:

Holly's, like, etching something really carefully, on the dragon scale, and she's, like, fuck.

Thomas / Guy:

Is it okay

Hannah / Eryn:

if I'm gonna kill Bert.

Thomas / Guy:

Is it okay if I have a slice of cake in

Tara / Journey:

the fridge? He's just upstairs.

Thomas / Guy:

He's

Tara / Journey:

vegged out on the couch. He's just bored and he's

Speaker 7:

sending me this

Tim / GM:

to the ceremony.

Speaker 8:

He's already he's already eating the cake. Yeah.

Tim / GM:

He's looking at an empty plate going, I should've asked.

Hannah / Eryn:

Angle bird. He's here from the basement.

Tim / GM:

But, yes, 545 rolls around, and Tibio and Uli show up a couple minutes late.

Hannah / Eryn:

Alright, y'all. Let's get going. Holly grabs her apron off the hook, puts on Rhee in her pocket, and heads out the door.

Speaker 4:

I flick the ring to bird.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh, thanks, Arlie.

Tim / GM:

Holly leads everybody through, the work wheel, to the guild house on the river. Bert, you do notice that even in costume, you're getting getting an inordinate amount of attention.

Tara / Journey:

Oh, no. I forgot to

Hannah / Eryn:

re up your makeup. I'm so sorry.

Tim / GM:

And it I mean, it's, the makeup is it's starting to fall apart a little bit, but you still don't look like Bert. And yet, everyone is still turning to look at you. Some people even approach you, but you've kind of learned to look the other way and keep walking.

Tara / Journey:

Tibio sees that people are still paying just a fuck ton of attention to Bert. And as they're walking, he ritually casts detect magic on Bert.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. You can see, that he has a, an aura of evil about him.

Speaker 5:

Oh, Bert. There is something very wrong with you. I can't believe we didn't notice it before. You have an aura of evil.

Hannah / Eryn:

Oh, that makes sense. That's why he was sending all those dumb messages earlier.

Thomas / Guy:

Well, that that's kind of rude, Tibio. Right?

Hannah / Eryn:

Also, it's Bertolli.

Speaker 5:

I'm sorry. Bertolli, you have an aura of evil.

Tim / GM:

Tibio squinting. You can see that, it is, an an evil aura indeed. But, the the real heart of the magic here is a a charm effect. You all approach the, front door of this, it looks like a kind of a shack, actually, right on the river's edge, where you expected to see some kind of, like, elegant clubhouse. It's just like like a door between other doors.

Tim / GM:

But Holly gives it an, a special knock. What does a knock sound like? Okay. And, you hear from inside,

Speaker 4:

that's Holly.

Tim / GM:

And, the door swings open and, it's, one of your, guildmates, that you haven't seen in a long time and just says, Holly's here. And everybody kind of like looks up at you. There's about 20 people in this room, and the guild house is it's small, but it's beautifully decorated and very well kept. And at the end, there's one giant bay window that overlooks the river. And it's actually got, like, this direct straight on view of the librarian, all three towers across the lake.

Hannah / Eryn:

Oh, hello, everyone. I brought a few guests this time. I hope you don't mind.

Tim / GM:

A lot of people are, like, shifting around to make more room for your guests. And you can see at this, there's a long table right by that bay window, and, seated there are, a few folks. In the center is Margo Bingo, the guild leader and, directly to her left is a pale old shirtless gnome with a long white beard that is covered in tattoos.

Thomas / Guy:

Do we recognize him? Do I know this guy? Yeah.

Hannah / Eryn:

Do we recognize him?

Tim / GM:

I think you do for different reasons. Bert, you know this man as the finest quill crafter in all of Tildrey. His name is Benjamin Blanc. Holly, this is your guild mate, Benjamin Blanc. He is a master ink worker.

Speaker 4:

What do his tattoos look like?

Tim / GM:

He's got all sorts of shit. Some of them are just, like, fish, and some of them, like, he's got this, like

Tara / Journey:

Fish?

Tim / GM:

He's got this giant dragon tattoo that, like, runs up his spine. And so it's like the spine of the dragon is his spine, but then, like, it's got all this other, like, filigree. And you can see that, like, everything is its own little story that that's kind of painted on him.

Hannah / Eryn:

Holly walks up to the main table and says, hey. How's it going, Ben, Margo? It's so good to be back in town.

Tim / GM:

Margo, kind of, like, stands to greet you, and takes your hand with both of her hands, and she says, Holly, it's so good to have you back here. I need to have you take a seat. We need to get started.

Hannah / Eryn:

Sounds good. I have a, companions here. Is it okay if we just, sit in my usual spot?

Tim / GM:

Please. And, your friends, standing room's fine wherever you can.

Hannah / Eryn:

Alright. Sorry, guys. There's usually only enough seats for guild members, but you guys can stand right back here. And Holly kinda gestures, in a back corner of the area and then takes her seat.

Tim / GM:

And then, Benjamin Blanca is sitting back down, and you hear him say, good to have you back, Holly.

Hannah / Eryn:

Oh, it's nice to be here.

Tim / GM:

Margo stands and says, so we've got problems. I think we all know that. We're being vandalized. We're being we're being attacked. Sorry to say, Mina, her store was destroyed.

Tim / GM:

I think at this point we all know where it's coming from, not to name names. And, somebody in the back of the room is just, like, Fizzle, and everybody kind of grumbles in agreement. She says, may very well be, but we can't act with, uncertain information. I can't ask anyone in the guild to risk their business, to risk themselves. This this could get ugly.

Tim / GM:

I I don't wanna lie to you. Our resources are running short. We're we're almost entirely out of money. Things are getting tight, and things are hard for the guilt, but we've persevered through bad things. And I think we'll persevere through this.

Tim / GM:

Trust me, I've got a plan. And that's what I brought you all here to tell you. I said, I've got a plan. Somebody in the room says, what is it?

Thomas / Guy:

I'll carry it.

Tim / GM:

What's the plan? She says, I I I'll I'll handle it. I I will handle it. You None of you need to worry. I will keep this guild afloat and I will keep him off of your back.

Tim / GM:

I promise. I just need a few more days. Mina steps forward and she says, I'm gonna temporarily set up shop, in the work wheel. And I I think it'll be okay for a while, but if anybody has, extra funds and I know it's it's hard right now, but I'm just struggling to get by.

Hannah / Eryn:

Holly stands up and she says, Mina, you don't have to set up shop temporarily. Why don't you come take a spot in the front of my store? We can set up your wares, and you can just sell right out of my my same shop.

Tim / GM:

And there's kind of a an a moment of silence as, everybody waits to see, if you really meant that. And, it kind of, passes ratification pretty quick. And then Margo Bingo stands up and says, Holly Hyacinth, everyone.

Hannah / Eryn:

Oh, no. Really, please don't.

Tim / GM:

She, goes over a few more, like, guild talking points, and then the room is kind of dismissed. But the the heavy drama was at the front of it. And, she says, Holly, could, you and your friends stay back just a minute, please?

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. Love to. We haven't eaten dinner yet, but, you know, it's totally fine.

Tim / GM:

She says, we won't be long, and, gestures to the rest of the guild and says, we'll need the room. And they all go, oh, okay. And, they all leave all except for Benjamin Blanc.

Speaker 4:

I'm eating the free

Hannah / Eryn:

cookies and coffee. Yeah.

Tim / GM:

And, Margo takes a minute kind of regarding all of you. And she says, magic users, all of you.

Hannah / Eryn:

Yeah. Surprisingly.

Speaker 5:

Yes. I think Uli used surface more, but she has magic.

Speaker 4:

Only magic. Sorry. I thought they were for everyone.

Tara / Journey:

It's quite alright.

Tim / GM:

Holly, I I want to level with you and and give you what I know. Our guilt is suffering because of me.

Hannah / Eryn:

Because of you, Margo?

Thomas / Guy:

I thought it was that fizzle guy.

Tim / GM:

It is fizzle, but they're after me. They're hurting people I know and care about because of who I am. You see, I'm a I'm a guild leader. Yes. I'm a a magic user and a business owner, but I'm also a curse breaker.

Tim / GM:

And that title means more to me than anything else.

Hannah / Eryn:

Well, how I mean okay. I just learned what cursebreakers were like a week ago. And now, almost everyone I know seems like they're a curse breaker, which is pretty cool. But how does Fizzle know that you're a curse breaker?

Tim / GM:

Fizzle is conspiring. I don't know how deep it goes, but somebody has a list of us. They can find us.

Hannah / Eryn:

Oh, no. I'm so sorry, Margo. What can I what can I do to help?

Tim / GM:

Well, in the short term, I need you to do some recon work. Well, I need you to investigate Frankie Fizzle. Do you think you could do that for me?

Hannah / Eryn:

Oh, I mean, we are basically a detective crew now, so sure.

Tim / GM:

I I don't want to, act before I have all my ducks in a row, so I'd like you to check out his club. His club is called live life laugh love juice bar.

Hannah / Eryn:

Oh. No.

Speaker 4:

It's always the juice bars.

Hannah / Eryn:

Man, what a good name.

Tim / GM:

Attached to that is his brewery. That's where he makes his potables for the bar, but it's also where he makes fizzle potions. If you can get a brewery tour and, maybe scope out his club a little bit, we might have the information we need to take him down.

Hannah / Eryn:

Well, you know, go into the club, it's what we do. We don't do that, but we'll do it this time.

Speaker 4:

Sounds fun.

Thomas / Guy:

Holly, I don't wanna spoil the mood here.

Tim / GM:

It's okay.

Hannah / Eryn:

You can wear the other little gnome outfit.

Thomas / Guy:

Yes. I may just be an innocent schoolgirl, but one of my friends wound up dead by investigating Fizel. He's a dangerous dude.

Hannah / Eryn:

I I have to help my friends in the guild. I I can't leave them hanging.

Speaker 5:

Bert, maybe this is the way to clear your name and to clear Prax's name.

Hannah / Eryn:

You don't have to go with me. I'm not asking for any of your guys' help. But if you want to, I would gladly take it.

Thomas / Guy:

No. Tibio's right. I gotta do it for Brex.

Speaker 4:

Will you teach us curse breaker stuff if we help?

Tim / GM:

We can talk more about that. It's I want to make sure you understand what it means. Just before she continues, you guys hear this loud slam against the window as a large black bird just slams into the glass and, like leaves a little spit streak and then flies away.

Hannah / Eryn:

And

Tim / GM:

she like turns around and she says, gods, what was that? Anyway, right. We can get started, tomorrow with the investigation. But before you leave here tonight, we've gotta get that curse out of that gnome. Uh-oh.

Tim / GM:

What now?

Speaker 4:

This little

Speaker 5:

gnome I told you I told you there was something wrong.

Speaker 4:

I thought we got rid of that. He ate moss.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh, back

Hannah / Eryn:

in the

Thomas / Guy:

cave? Yeah. That's all taken care of.

Speaker 5:

No. There is something new right now. I told you. I saw it while we were walking here.

Speaker 8:

I think Bert seems great.

Speaker 4:

Holly, you have more moss. Right?

Hannah / Eryn:

Only a tiny bit.

Speaker 5:

Madame Bingo, could you please help us?

Thomas / Guy:

Does this involve eating more moss?

Tim / GM:

She says, oh, no. We're going to do it right this time. And, you see her start to disrobe a little bit. She Alright.

Tara / Journey:

Hey o.

Tim / GM:

She, kind of like pulls open this, like, leather armor that she's got on and shrugs it off. And, you can see her, like, lower the the back on this flowing, kind of gown that she's wearing and, you can see running up her spine are these 3 circular tattoos with a line running through them. She looks at Bert and she says, everybody steer clear. She points at him and she says, step 1, bait the curse. And you see the tattoo on her back go from a black ink to a vibrant gold, and it looks as if it's spinning in place.

Tim / GM:

And, you see her start to sweat. She just breaks out in beads of sweat and starts breathing heavily, and you can see her skin, like, becoming sort of, taut and then sort of wrinkled, and she looks distressed, and you can see her veins pulse out. And Bert, you feel like you're in a yarps again.

Thomas / Guy:

Oh, boy.

Tim / GM:

But this time, it, you get that glowing eyes and the glowing mouth again as this thing sort of effuses from your body. And, just a morsel of the curse that was left in you. This curse that was drawing things into the cave with unchecked desire and causing them to live eternally wanting this thing. This curse that now made everything want you eternally and feverishly, is now sitting out in the center of the room. She says, step 2, seal the exit.

Tim / GM:

And she looks at Bert, like, with this, kind of panicked look and she says, usually this means destroying the thing that held the curse.

Speaker 4:

I grapple his mouth.

Tim / GM:

She says, in this case, we can't destroy Bert, which makes it a little more complicated.

Speaker 4:

I take Bert outside. I take Bert totally outside.

Hannah / Eryn:

Bert totally.

Thomas / Guy:

Or did you see from my disguise?

Tim / GM:

She says, step 3, give it all you've got. And everyone in the room sees Margo lean in and just get this look of ferocity, and then she starts to grin as all the lights just go dim, and the only light in the room is this tiny speck of white that's shining towards everything. And she points out at it with her hand. She's actually got a a short sword that she's drawn on it menacingly, and it's just, kind of pointing at it until it dwindles and it diminishes, and these little sparks are flying off of it, until it just becomes a little speck of white, which she puts her heel on and grinds it into the floor. And she says, that was probably overkill, but also necessary.

Thomas / Guy:

So I guess, guess no one's gonna want a piece of old bird anymore,

Speaker 4:

Why weren't any of us affected by that? Well, I

Hannah / Eryn:

mean, we all have felt closer these last few days as just friends.

Speaker 8:

We've all been infected by the curse of friendship already. That's

Speaker 4:

quite a curse.

Tara / Journey:

The real curse was the friends we made along

Speaker 8:

the way.

Tim / GM:

Thanks so much for listening. I'm Tim, your DM and your Genie.

Hannah / Eryn:
