Cursebreaker | 18 - The Holly and Her Ivy

Tonberry shows up and things get wild when he tries to steal Snakk's magic lamp.
Speaker 1:

Last time on Curr's breaking, these guys woke up and somebody was knocking on their door. See? And they said, hey. I got some animals in this car. What the what the fuck are we gonna do about that?

Speaker 2:

What the hell? What the

Tara / Journey:

Okay. But now you have to do it again.

Speaker 1:

Julie said, yeah. Toss me the monkeys, and they got them all

Speaker 2:

stashed away. And then on

Speaker 1:

their way out of that place, people started disappearing and getting all all all messed up real bad.

Speaker 2:

And then, There was a bird.

Speaker 1:

There was a bird. That's right. There was a bird.

Speaker 2:

That bone kid talked to the bird.

Speaker 1:

Bone kid got a message from home. They was like, come home.

Speaker 2:

And Be be the bone king. That was true.

John / Doran:

And fully recapped. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And then they went to see this cool ass moneylender who was their best friend, and then they went to the library. And the gnome dude got a big old boner for the knowledge. And, and here we are at the fountain.

Tara / Journey:

This is it, though. You keep that. We're keeping that. You're not writing a new one. We're keeping

Speaker 2:

that.

Tim / GM:

So last we spake, y'all had just witnessed, genie taking a big old drink of magic and going a little crazy with it, almost out of control, but then he still responded to a snack snack's command to stop, as he was kind of absorbing all of the magic that was coming out of the font of magic in in the tower of magic. Magic, magic, magic. Just as Genie was about to grant Holly's wish to turn Ivy back into Ivy, the door exploded open revealing 3 snarky judges and a whole troop of law mages. In that exact moment, Tibio thought fast to cast darkness on the entire room and that's where we find ourselves.

Tara / Journey:

Ginny, finish the spell.

Tim / GM:

You're I lost track of the chameleon.

Maggie / Poppy:

Oh, no. Oh, no.

John / Doran:

Snack can see because Snack can see in magical darkness.

Tim / GM:

Alright. So, yeah, Snack, you can see. You can see, the, everybody that was approaching you, the the bad guys, so to speak, they all look pretty equally startled Except for Tonberry, who's at the front, who you can see, like, he takes one decisive step out of the chamber and then lifts a hand and casts a light spell at an elevated level. And you can all see this little point of light, start to break through the darkness. But it's like it's it's fighting against the darkness.

Tim / GM:

And so, it's kind of chasing the shadows out of this room. And you hear, nice try.

Tara / Journey:

Snack, genie, hubby.

John / Doran:

I scamper for the chameleon, and I also don't want to be in the light.

Tim / GM:

Are you trying to, like, yeah, like, stay out of sight then?

John / Doran:

I'm looking for the chameleon, but also I'm scared of the light spell because it's gonna be really bright.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Hurt my eyeballs. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.

Tim / GM:

Make a, investigation, I think, because you know what you're looking for.

Speaker 7:

8. Okay. Dope.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. The the lights bell continues to kind of creep across the room, and, Tonberry starts stepping into the room, moving towards you, snack.

Speaker 7:

Genie, get into the lampquake.

Tim / GM:

He, obeys without hesitation, and, the chameleon has left a chameleon somewhere.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly is just trying to find the chameleon. Like, she's kind of just walking around with her hands out. Like, she's not really sure what she's

Tim / GM:

looking

Speaker 7:

for. Make make

Maggie / Poppy:

an investigation. Nat 20.

Tim / GM:

Oh, yes. You find the chameleon, immediately. I think the the chameleon finds you.

Speaker 2:

Aw. Yeah.

Tim / GM:

Okay. I

Maggie / Poppy:

scoop her up and put her

Speaker 7:

in my pocket.

Speaker 2:

Okay. They all walked past me.

Tim / GM:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

I got a good look at the law mages.

Tim / GM:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I would like to alter self to look like 1

John / Doran:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

And join their ranks.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Yeah. You're standing behind all them. Thank you.

Speaker 8:

Excuse me, folks. This fountain is occupied. You mind waiting your turn?

Tim / GM:

We're not here for the fountain. And, Tonberry takes a couple more steps towards snack.

Speaker 8:

Bert's gonna step in between him and snack.

Tim / GM:

It's not your time yet, Engelbert Wisher Spoon. Soon, though.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. I know. Sunday Sunday Sunday. Is it is it snack you're after?

Tim / GM:

He gives you a wink, and he says, not the kobold. And, he takes tries to take a step past you, Bert.

Speaker 8:

I mean, there's probably not much I can do.

John / Doran:

So, snack is backing away. Is there a window in this room or

Tim / GM:

there's not It's an enclosed chamber.

John / Doran:

Okay. Next room, get as close to the back wall as possible.

Tim / GM:

Okay. The, lawmages, sort of start to flood the room a little bit?

Speaker 2:

I I go in for whatever the target is. I'm assuming it's the lamp.

Tim / GM:

As, your assumption starts to become grimly true that Tonberry says, is kind of like almost kneeling in front of Snacknow and he says, now give it here. And he points the lamp at your hip. And then he's still staring at you, Snack, and then you hear him call out, the dark haired lawmage closest to the door. It's not one of us. Take him down.

Speaker 2:

Is that me?

Tim / GM:

That's you.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly is gonna try to reach Snack, and she as she's running towards him, she's gonna swing around her pack of privacy, and try to hold it open and be like, Snack, put it in, when she runs up to

Tim / GM:

him. Without looking up at you, Holly, Tonberry, like, reaches, like, a handout as you come in and just tries to, like, rip the pack out of your hand before you're even there.

John / Doran:

At that moment, Snack's gonna try a guess spell.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Let's make a contested grapple on the pack of privacy.

Maggie / Poppy:

18.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Yeah. You, you actually succeeded there against Tondre.

Maggie / Poppy:

He's a weak old man.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. So he he doesn't, he isn't able to, like, pull it out of your grasp even though he does with uncanny reflexes, like, you know, begins to pull on it without looking at you. He just can't overpower you.

John / Doran:

Yeah. At the grapple, snack is going to, cast Misty Step and

Tim / GM:

Okay. Just

John / Doran:

appear outside of the walls.

Tim / GM:

Like, outside of the tower?

John / Doran:

Yes. But he backed up to the wall and is gonna just misty step as far as he can out.

Tim / GM:

Okay.

John / Doran:

Yeah. See what happens.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Tonberry is holding on to this bag and kind of, like, fighting Holly as she's, like, holding it open for you to jump in for no reason. You see his eyes, like, go wide, and he starts shaking his head no. And then all of a sudden you're like, I'm gonna misty step, and then you do so. So when you do, you all see the fountain, kind of like go white and it casts this, like, mist out into the entire room.

Tim / GM:

And the next thing you see is all of you, lawmages, the entire party are free falling outside of the tower, 21 floors.

Speaker 8:

Oh. Mister Snell.

Tim / GM:

As as you're, like, whispering the incantation for Misty Step, to make that go off, You hear him start to whisper something as well. And, the moment, that he appears outside, he finishes the incantation for feather fall. On himself? On himself and his cohorts. Yeah.

John / Doran:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

Can we guide ourselves?

Tim / GM:

So I think you're in the exact, like, arrangement that you were inside the room. So, Uli, you're kind of on the separate, other side as everybody else. And there were a couple lawmakers that were, like, headed towards you that are now, like, slow falling away from you as you're fast falling towards the water below.

Speaker 2:

Right. Yeah. Okay.

Maggie / Poppy:

Oh, we're just gonna fall in the water?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. That's what's beneath here. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I feel like we've been in this position before.

Speaker 7:

I,

John / Doran:

Schneck reaches in his lap and starts pulling up pillows frantically.

Speaker 8:

I was, like, right behind Tom Berry.

Speaker 7:

Mhmm. Can

Speaker 8:

I try to, like, grab onto his cloak or something like that

Tim / GM:

as we're falling? Yeah. You can just try that. Yeah. Give me a a a dexterity actually to grab on.

Tim / GM:

Not quite aggressive.

Speaker 8:

Dirty 20. Okay.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Yeah. You grab onto his cloak, which you immediately realize he's detached from himself.

John / Doran:

Okay. So, and Snack was next to Holly. Right?

Tim / GM:

Close enough. Yep.

John / Doran:

Okay. So, Snack goes up to Holly, and, he has the ability to fly and does so. Now that I am, like, basically a medium creature, could I can I, like, hold Holly?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Definitely.

John / Doran:

Okay. And then Holly still has a pack of privacy out. Right? Yep. I'm going to try to sleight of hand, slap the lamp into that as we're falling.

Tim / GM:

So, yes, you're flying. You grab on to Holly to slow her descent, and you throw the lamp into Back of privacy? Yep. You see a couple of things. Everyone who's falling, sees that, Tonberry, has, descended a little bit so that he's more with your group than he is with his group.

Tim / GM:

He is also pointing both hands, at the water below, and you can see that the water is freezing in a giant circle beneath you.

Tara / Journey:

I cast web on the ice.

Tim / GM:

Okay. So on top of this ice that's being formed, is now this, like, thick mass of webs that's kind of, stacking this like

Tara / Journey:

And squishy.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. This this squishy mesh of neck wet.

Maggie / Poppy:

Gonna yell, Jeanie, got any pillows left?

Tim / GM:

That's kind of the last thing that you hear is Holly shouting for pillows. As the lamp tries to go into the pack of privacy, there's an interesting thing that happens when you try to contain an extra dimensional space inside of an extra dimensional space.

Speaker 2:

Oh, no.

Tara / Journey:

You've created a black hole and we all die. That's a good campaign.

Tim / GM:

From the ground floor, people first see you all falling, and then they see this spherical black void that kind of erupt, from between the pack of privacy and this lamp, snack and holly, you're going to have to make, dexterity saves.

Maggie / Poppy:

6. Yikes.

Speaker 7:

8. Oh, no.

Tim / GM:

So the 2 of you are kind of rapidly repelled from each other at the epicenter of this blast. So you both take, 31 force damage

Tara / Journey:

Fuck.

Tim / GM:

And are blasted away from each other as this, this black sphere opens between you and shunts you off to the side. For a second, you see this warbling disc that is rapidly spinning and sucking in little pieces of debris and everything around it. Anyone with a bit of extra planar knowledge can see that this is a rift to the astral plane that has been torn in the sky. Cool.

John / Doran:

They probably don't have laws against that, do they?

Tim / GM:

You see all these people, that are kind of, free falling, at a slower rate above you. You see one of the lawmages get sucked into the astral plane and disappear, never to be seen again. Get sucked into the astral plane and disappear, never to be seen again.

Speaker 8:

Did we land yet?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. That's the other concern. So there is web, but there is other there is also ice.

Maggie / Poppy:

Did Holly get blasted into water space? Because she gonna die.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. So Holly and Snack actually probably got blasted so far off of their trajectory that they're gonna land in water and not anything else. Okay. So if you're unconscious, you're drowning. But if you're not, you should be okay.

Maggie / Poppy:

Is unconscious 0?

Tim / GM:

Yes.

Maggie / Poppy:

Okay. I'm at 2. So

Tim / GM:

Okay. I'm glad this happened now instead of the first time that Snack invites people into the lamp and Holly tries to go in there with a backup of privacy. Oh my god.

Speaker 1:

He just dies.

Tim / GM:

Oh. So the rest of you, who are careening towards the ice spider issue.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Tim / GM:

Is there anything you're gonna try? You've you've kinda got one round of of action here.

Speaker 2:

Can I scream at the ice?

Tim / GM:

Yes.

Speaker 8:

I'm probably also screaming.

Tim / GM:

Yeah.

Maggie / Poppy:

I would like to, scream.

Tara / Journey:

Well, it's covered in web now.

Speaker 2:

I think Shatter would go through it. I'm trying to make it less hard.

Tara / Journey:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Tara / Journey:

Well, that's up to Tim. I just said, yeah. Like, I'm in charge. Yeah. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Or what do you think?

Tara / Journey:

Yeah. Yeah. That seems good. Like, good science.

Tim / GM:

The hands are tied.

Speaker 2:

For flavor, I'd like it to be kind of an accidental

John / Doran:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Scream because I'm terrified. So I'm screaming downwards at the ice. I would scream the ice to be the one that's shattering and not centered on me. I think I'm just going, ah.

Speaker 2:

And then, it would take 3 d8 thunder damage.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Go ahead and

Speaker 2:

roll it. 9.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Yeah. This ice is not all that strong, and so you see it, kind of shatter into a 1000000 pieces creating a sort of slurry against the water that is also wrapped in web. So while it's not nearly as lethal, it's exponentially more gross when you hit the water, that you're wrapped now in soggy frozen webbing.

Tara / Journey:

So am I I would say I'm near Bert.

Speaker 8:

Probably. Yeah. Yeah.

Tara / Journey:

I cast shield on myself as a reaction and mage armor on him as a an action.

Speaker 8:

Okay. I have no spells that well.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Yeah. So, you're you're both a little a little more, armored, a little more, like, bolstered for impact.

Speaker 8:

Talk with ice.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. And, yeah, now you're gonna have a little conversation with the ice. Remove ice. I'd like you both to make a Talk

Speaker 7:

with ice.

Tim / GM:

A dexterity check just to kinda check your landing, like, belly flop versus dodge.

John / Doran:

Gonna work. Oh my god.

Speaker 8:

They're run.

Tara / Journey:

14.

Speaker 2:

9. 15.

Tim / GM:

Okay. So Uli, you actually land with some grace. Tibio and Bert, do not as much. The the ice, has been shattered, so it's not as bad as it could have been, but you both take 12 bludgeoning damage, as you hit some sizable chunks on your way down. Snack and Holly, you're just kind of underwater before you even know what's going on and rising back to the surface.

Tim / GM:

Holly, you feel like you're about to pass out, after what just happened.

Speaker 7:

Mhmm.

Tim / GM:

You have no idea where your pack of privacy is, and all of your friends are a good, like, 120 away in the water. And there are now, like, a fairly large group of people, like, on bridges and on walkways that are that are on looking under what's going

Speaker 7:

on now. Holly can't swim

Maggie / Poppy:

very good because she's wearing a dress. She is going to cast water walk.

Speaker 2:

Finally. Finally.

Maggie / Poppy:

Her favorite spell, because she doesn't like swimming. She, pulls a piece of cork out of her secret pocket that she has just for water situations Yeah. Like this, and casts water walk.

Speaker 7:

Yeah.

Maggie / Poppy:

And she just I kind of since she's in the water, I'm kind of imagining it as, it just sort of like spits her out like straight

Speaker 2:

up. Yeah.

Maggie / Poppy:

Like a bobber.

Speaker 7:

Yeah. Yeah.

Maggie / Poppy:

And she's just standing on the water now. Okay. So basically, it gives me the ability to move across any liquid serve surface Mhmm. For 1 hour.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Yeah. There are some small waves that are causing you to be like a little unsteady on your feet. Snack, what are you doing?

John / Doran:

Snack is going to climb into the lamp and let it sink to the bottom.

Tim / GM:

You actually don't know where the lamp is at this point. Oh. It was kinda blast away from you. Mhmm. So you're just kind of alone in the water.

John / Doran:

This has not happened before, and Snack is frantically looking around for a glimpse of the lamp.

Tim / GM:

I want to, address your flying real quick.

Speaker 7:

Mhmm.

Tim / GM:

So do you have to concentrate on that? Do you know? Is it the fly is it the effects of the fly spell?

John / Doran:

From what I read in the book, it's it's kind of like an improved like, yeah. It doesn't require concentration.

Speaker 7:

Okay.

John / Doran:

I can let me just double check that, though. Yeah. As a bonus action, you can give yourself a flying speed of 30 feet that last for 10 minutes during which you can hover.

Tim / GM:

Okay. So yes. Yeah. You're just bobbing in the water now, without an idea of, where Holly is or where your lamp is.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly's looking around for her pack of privacy.

Tim / GM:

Give me an investigation, Holly.

Maggie / Poppy:

12.

Tim / GM:

You're not seeing it right now.

John / Doran:

Do I see a big fish nearby?

Tim / GM:

Give me

Tara / Journey:

Give me a fish check.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Give me a fish check. 19. Damn. Woah.

Tim / GM:

Doesn't matter what stat that was. Yeah. Yeah. There's big fish.

John / Doran:

I'm gonna try to talk to it. Okay.

Speaker 7:

Large, Large, beautiful fish creature. Come here. Yes. Actually, you go away. Very well.

John / Doran:

Is there a different fish?

Tim / GM:

Yeah.

Speaker 7:

Okay. Fish creature, you beautiful fish creature. Come here, please.

Tim / GM:

Oh, it's so kind of you. Yeah. How can I help?

Speaker 7:

Can you please I will give you plentiful food if you just take me away from this place. May I grab onto your strong fins?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Sounds like a good deal to me. Anyone in particular?

Speaker 7:

This is so funny.

Speaker 2:

I look

John / Doran:

around. Is there, like, I I wanna look for a place where I can really kinda run away. Is there, like, a open, like, beach lay area? Or

Tim / GM:

you could, like, swim between a couple of the towers and really get out of sight of everybody.

Speaker 7:

Okay.

John / Doran:

Yeah. Yeah. I gesture that way.

Speaker 7:

That way, please.

Tim / GM:

And, they just go hold on tight. Alright. And, they just they, yeah, they they just gun it, around the corner Okay. And take you into this narrow canal.

Speaker 8:

Totally straight.

Speaker 2:

It's what's

Tim / GM:

going on.

Speaker 1:

You're like, yeah.

Speaker 7:

I'm a fish. Alright. Sweet.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. I'm a fish. What's up?

Tim / GM:

Hey. Do you like my scales?

Tara / Journey:

My name is, Fish Tim.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Are

Speaker 8:

we able to swim to shore? Something like that?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. You're all kind of bobbing among the ice. I'm gonna have everybody except Snack make a perception check.

Speaker 2:

Love it. We'll use that third eye again.

Maggie / Poppy:

Holly got 12.

Speaker 2:

17. 5? Also 5.

Tim / GM:

Okay. 17. You see, 2 important things at the same time. You see Holly's pack of privacy, floating kind of among the ice. Oh.

Tim / GM:

It's just this sort of bulge of buoyancy now. Pack of privacy, bulge of buoyancy.

Speaker 2:

Hate it.

Tara / Journey:

Oh, yikes.

Tim / GM:

That is it doesn't seem like anybody else has spotted it yet. However, you see Tonberry frantically swimming towards something that is away from the rest of his party.

Speaker 8:

Is the how close is the bag to me?

Tim / GM:

The bag is much closer to the 2 than Tom Berry is.

Speaker 8:

I'm gonna swim over the bag and I say, I'm looking for mister Snack's magic lamp, and I cast locate object. Okay.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. It pretty much draws a line between you and Tonberry and beyond.

Speaker 8:

Like, seems like Tonberry is

Tim / GM:

Definitely.

Speaker 8:

Tonberry is going for the lamp. Mhmm. Are, Uli or well, is any are any allies kinda closer to

Tim / GM:

I think Holly is pretty far from you. I think where you are right now, Bert, both Uly and Tibia are quite close to you.

Tara / Journey:

Well, Uly was on the other side of us, on the other side of the room when we fell.

Tim / GM:

That's true. Yeah. Okay. I would say then then, Uli is probably at the halfway point between Tonberry and Bert.

Speaker 8:

I'm going to message Uli and say that, Tom Berry's after the lamp. We can't let him get it.

Speaker 2:

Over over here?

Speaker 8:

Yeah. Okay. I'm gonna also go after the or I I mean, if it's very close, I can grab the bag first.

Tim / GM:

Definitely. Yep. It's right next to you.

Speaker 2:

Once I lock on, I would like to aquatic adaptation Oh, okay. Myself. Yes. Excellent. Fish my way over there.

Tara / Journey:

Fish on out.

Speaker 2:

Fish in and fish out. I assume I can swim much faster than a judge.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. As you, finish, casting your aquatic form, you see Tonberry take, like, a deep breath and then submerge.

Speaker 2:

Well, I also do.

Tim / GM:

Okay. Yeah. Uli, you're, you're swimming ahead, as quickly as you can, And, you feel a giant octopus tentacle start to wrap around you.

Speaker 2:

Great. God. Fucking damn it. It's touching me. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Side thought as I'm moving, I'm just gonna shock and grasp it because that's a cantrip.

Tim / GM:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

And I'll focus it on wherever it's grabbing me.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Okay. You just shock and grasp this angle.

Speaker 2:

Is that a bad idea underwater?

Tim / GM:

We'll find out.

Speaker 2:

Guess we'll find out.

Speaker 8:

Could be an episode of that, I guess.

Maggie / Poppy:

Do I

Speaker 2:

have to make an attack roll if it's grabbing me?

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Okay. I probably have advantage though since it's like attached to you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. It says I have advantage if the target's wearing armor made of metal.

Tim / GM:

I don't think you have advantage for that reason, but you still got advantage.

Speaker 2:

But yeah. Okay.

Tara / Journey:

Alright. Tim, do octopi wear, metal armor?

Tim / GM:

This one does. It's got chain mail on.

Speaker 2:

That's a Spell Attack?

Tara / Journey:

Yeah. It's just like a sheet of

Speaker 2:

chainmail. A curtain, coif. It's like

Tara / Journey:

It's like a ghost. Yes.

Speaker 2:

That is a 25.

Tim / GM:

Oh, yeah. Get some. Roll the damage on it.

Speaker 2:

5.

Speaker 7:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

5 zap.

Tim / GM:

So you also take 5 zap damage.

Speaker 2:

Shock myself.

Tim / GM:

You equally shock yourself in this thing. You've really have no control over it, underwater here.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Tim / GM:

I keep stretch of this is just you in your aquatic form and this octopus just flailing against you.

Speaker 2:

Oh, it's still holding on to me?

Tim / GM:

Oh, yeah. Yeah. So you're you're pretty much upon the lamp. In fact, you felt it bump against your elbow at this point. So the 2 of you are just trying to grapple against each other.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Tim / GM:

24. Oh, I think you got me beat again. Yeah. You're able to, like, shove the octopus, kind of out of your face.

Speaker 2:

Okay. I kick him away with my foot and I grab the lamp.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. You're holding on to the lamp now.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Tim / GM:

You see this, this octopus, instead of continuing to try to like drag you down or anything, it actually kind of like spreads all of its arms wide and then like just jets away from you as quickly as it can. Okay. You see it briefly kind of like bob up and appear near its group of people. And then you see this kind of, it's it's closer to the rest of you now, and you see this, this enemy group is starting to kind of assemble, closer to the ice and the web. You guys have a split second to react to this, before they make their next move.

Tim / GM:

Tonberry has transformed back into Tonberry, and then the other 2 judges are near him with, 6 lawmages.

Speaker 8:

Well, I can tell with locate object that Uli's got the lamp, at least. This sounds like a tactical retreat for Bert. Okay. Just start going the other way. Cool.

Tara / Journey:

I misty step away.

Tim / GM:

Away from that group?

Tara / Journey:

Okay. Good. Very away.

Maggie / Poppy:

I think Holly is trying to get to the nearest shoreline

Tim / GM:

where

Maggie / Poppy:

she was

Tim / GM:

Yeah.

Maggie / Poppy:

During all this.

Tim / GM:

In fact, I think you're, like, pulling yourself up onto, like, a little, like, kind of dock area sort of thing.

Maggie / Poppy:

She doesn't feel too good.

Tim / GM:

Yeah.

Maggie / Poppy:

So she's just trying to get to some dry land. Okay. She's all washed up.

Tim / GM:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I swim away.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. The last thing you see, is, judge Malboro kind of, swinging a wand in slow concentric circles over his head. And then, Judge Tonberry, points a fireball out towards Uli. Uli, you can see this coming. You know what they look like.

Tim / GM:

And, you see it kind of beaming for your head. Uly, you're a little pre too preoccupied to notice that what judge Malbora was doing was initiating a teleport.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 7:

I'm

Tim / GM:

gonna give you a advantage on the avoidance for the fireball, being that you're in water and you saw it coming. Yeah. So go ahead and, yeah, roll that deck save.

Speaker 2:

Okay. I'm also going to bend luck 16.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. That is not however high enough to beat Oh. Judge Tonberry's, spell save. So the, the fireball explodes around you. So, 27 fire damage, Julie.

Speaker 2:

I am at 2.

Tim / GM:

So you all hear the the rush as the flames roll over the water and Holly kind of looking back at your group as you'll pull yourself onto the stone, the solid stone floor here and get above water, you see this, this orange glow kind of roll over the water. And then you see, this just sort of absence and like a bit of a splash as their the rest of their group, just kind of disappears out of the water.

Speaker 2:

Why does this keep happening to me in water?

Tim / GM:

Snack, now around the corner with the fish. Is this as far

Speaker 7:

as you needed to go? This will suffice, mister Fish.

Tim / GM:

Great. Okay. If that's everything, I I guess I'll see you around.

Speaker 7:

I owe you food. Yes.

Tim / GM:

Please. Yeah. I mean, that was the deal. Right?

Speaker 7:

Yes. Do

John / Doran:

I get on to shore?

Tim / GM:

If that's where you need me to take you, for sure.

Speaker 7:

Yes. Alright. Food then? Yes. Of course.

Speaker 7:

Sounds good. Let's go.

Tim / GM:

And, he drags you straight up to shore and kind of does, like, a little fish kick and, like, kinda throws you up on the edge.

Maggie / Poppy:

Slaps you up.

Tim / GM:

And then he, like, puts his head above water and opens it wide, and he's like, food, please.

John / Doran:

And, I cast, create food

Speaker 7:

and water and make £45 of food.

Speaker 2:

Oh my gosh.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. It, it lands, like, straight on him, and, like, you just hear this warble.

Speaker 2:

Mister Fish.

Speaker 7:

You may share this food, but I want some too.

John / Doran:

And then I go over and eat a little bit.

Tim / GM:

You see a frenzy of fish, appear here and just start eating stuff off the top of the water.

Speaker 7:

Fish. There's more of this may come to you. Look for shinies in the water and bring it to me, please. Yeah. I could do that.

Speaker 7:

Wonderful.

Speaker 8:

Cool. Free food.

John / Doran:

So, yeah. I I send the fish and offer

Tim / GM:

all have their heads like a little bit above water, and they're like, we will find things for you, snack.

Speaker 7:

I am mister snack now.

Tim / GM:

They all look at each other. Oh, mister snack.

Speaker 7:

Yes. Bring any shiny things

John / Doran:

and something that looks like this. And I cast minor illusion and make the lamp.

Tim / GM:

They all kind of, like, look at each other and start bobbing and kind of rippling in the water, and then they all simultaneously submerge and, like, scatter out in different directions.

John / Doran:

Alright. And then I my eyes dart around and look for my friends.

Tim / GM:

I'm not sure if you can see them from where you are, but you can hear, like, a little bit of splashing and tibial mumbling something. So yeah. The the action has, kind of died down now. You kind of, like, peek your head around the corner, and you can just see, Tibeo and and Bert and Holly are all sort of close to each other. Uli's a little farther off and is just bobbing.

Tim / GM:

Or sorry. Holly's, up on shore already.

John / Doran:

I make my way over to them and try to help them out of the water

Speaker 7:

as best I can.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. Well, that went pretty bad.

Maggie / Poppy:

I'm not feeling too good. Same.

Speaker 7:

I am sorry, friends. I thought maybe we could escape safely. We did escape.

Speaker 8:

Well, we're Kind of. So I've and I got your bag, Holly.

Maggie / Poppy:

Oh my gosh. You got my pack. Holly grabs it, and gives Bert a little hug around his shoulder.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. As as Bert's kind of pulling himself out of the water here.

Speaker 2:

Were you looking for this?

Tim / GM:

And Uli holds up the lamp.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. It's our Uli.

Speaker 7:

Uli. Yeah. This is wonderful.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. We'll help, though. I'm I'm not doing too hot.

Tara / Journey:

I helped pull Uli out of the water.

Tim / GM:

Yeah. Snacks. She, she sets the lamp kind of back into your

John / Doran:

hands. Okay. I, take it and look to the the group.

Speaker 7:

Should we try to find somewhere safe?

Tara / Journey:

Is there anywhere safe? If the judges are after us, they can summon us at any time.

Speaker 2:

And now they know Holly's involved, Amber.

Speaker 8:

Yeah. This isn't good. It seems like there's nowhere safe we can go.

Maggie / Poppy:

Well, they're obviously trying to get this lamp. So I think we should try to have Genie complete the spell as soon as possible.

Tim / GM:

So you're all finally, surfacing from the water. You're mostly out of sight in this kind of crux, between, 2 large bridges, and not many people can see where you are. You're all kind of these haggard, you know, raggedy rats at this point after all the damage you've taken. And, you pull each other out and just you're glad to be alive and together. And on top of that, Uli managed to retrieve Genie for you.

Tim / GM:

You all take a few steps, underneath this bridge, to kind of, regather yourselves. Yeah.

John / Doran:

We get under the bridge, and Snack finds a bush. And he jumps in the bush, but he's too big now. He doesn't, like, actually conceal him, but it's just

Tim / GM:

a habit.

John / Doran:

Yeah. And then he taps the lamp on the ground quickly. Genie, are you still there?

Tim / GM:

Is everything okay?

Speaker 7:

Well, we have some things we must discuss. But first, I promised Holly a wish. Can we use part of it now? Yes, master snack. I'm ready.

Speaker 7:

Great. Lizard, please.

Maggie / Poppy:

It's a chameleon. And Holly, plucks the chameleon out of her pocket and holds it up. Genie, please, can you finish what you started?

Tim / GM:

Says, I apologize. And he, kind of, like, comes out like arm first to grab the chameleon and sets it back on the ground. And he sort of resumes the position he was in before, where he hovers these large hands over the chameleon and starts pulling his hands away. And as he's pulling them away, he seems to be kind of elongating the chameleon in different parts. Sort of like pulls the hair out of the chameleon and then pulls both arms kind of back at the same time, and the chameleon's arms out stretch.

Tim / GM:

And then just does this big, kind of swirling motion, and then pushes upward like, like growing the tree in the Totoro. And, and you see Ivy sprout from this chameleon, in her full form. She's still kind of changing colors, as she finally comes into view. And she's already crying by the time that she's able to cry.

Maggie / Poppy:

Ivy, and Holly, rather, around the shoulders and just is holding her, and giving her big hugs. She's, like, I can't believe it's really you. Is it really you? Is it really you? And, she, like, holds her out in front her and holds her by the shoulders and just, like, looks at her.

Tim / GM:

Ivy, like, backs out a little bit and then playfully, like, throws a tongue, like, up towards the side of her face.

Maggie / Poppy:

So it was you this whole time. Oh my god. I mean, I thought it was, but I wasn't sure. And, oh my gosh. I can't believe you're here.

Maggie / Poppy:

And she just hunts her again.

Tim / GM:

And yeah. And yeah. She can, like, barely say anything, in her state. And you're just, like, sopping wet still and just, like, embracing under this bridge. And Ivy says, I I forgot about you.

Tim / GM:

I I loved you, but I forgot who you were. But I remember now.

Maggie / Poppy:

I always remembered, and she, like, is pushing her hair back from her face a little bit and just being, like, holding her face and just being, like, I I'm so glad I didn't lose you.

Tim / GM:

We're never going back to that store again.

Maggie / Poppy:

That's a promise.

Tim / GM:

And, your your group, expanded by 1, moves back to Holly's shop or Holly's home, I think.

Maggie / Poppy:

We're headed back to Holly's house with, Holly and Ivy are walking arm in arm and just, like, chattering back and forth. Ivy looks almost identical to Holly. It's her little sister, and she's, like, an inch shorter and has blonde hair that's longer, almost down to her waist. And she is just, like, the same exact voice as Holly, pretty much, and they're just chattering and chattering and chattering and, yeah. So they're just so happy to be back together.

Speaker 7:

Bert, once Ginny does his magic, which one do you think is Brax? I wager, 20 gold. It's it's, it's the bird.

Speaker 8:

Oh, he's definitely a monkey.

Speaker 7:

A monkey, you say. 20 gold. Yes.

Tim / GM:

This is kind of the the last conversation you had, as you, round the corner back to Holly's Place, and you see, Margo Bingo, pacing in front of your door, furiously pacing back and forth, with a thumb up to her mouth. And then when she sees you, Holly, she looks up at you with uncharacteristic worry and glassy eyes.

Maggie / Poppy:

What's what's wrong, Margo? Look, it's Ivy. She's back.

Tim / GM:

Her expression breaks for a second, and her her eyebrows kinda go up. And you can see that she's she's heartbroken, but she's relieved for you. She says, Holly, I'm glad for you.

Maggie / Poppy:

You don't seem very glad. What's what's wrong?

Tim / GM:

They burned down the guild house. Thanks so much for listening. I'm Tim, your DM and your genie.

Maggie / Poppy:

I'm Hannah playing Holly Hyacinth.

Speaker 8:

I'm Thomas. I play Engelbert f f Wisherspoon.

Tara / Journey:

I'm Tara, and I play Tibio Famer.

John / Doran:

I'm John. I play Snack the kobalt.

Speaker 2:

And I'm Maggie playing Uli.
