Cursebreaker | 16 - All Fizzled Out
Last time on Cursebreaker, we returned home from the brewery tour to find Ulric and Emri waiting at Holly's front door. It turns out that separating Emery from his cursed sword was a death sentence. In an unexpected act of compassion, master Snack asked me to save him and break the curse, but I couldn't. As the evening approached, the party prepared to hit the club and track down Frankie Fizzle. The invitations forged by Bert got us in and Holly Hyacinth just shook hands with Fizzle himself.
Tim / GM:Something tells me the bass is about to drop.
Hannah / Eryn:So I'm Holly.
Tim / GM:Yeah. So in that room, it was just, Frankie Fizzle was at his desk writing something. You guys made a deal with him. Yep. And you swapped bodies for that glove that, Margo gave to you.
Hannah / Eryn:Yes.
Tim / GM:So you now look like Frankie Fizzle and Frankie Fizzle looks like you. The plan was to drag Frankie out of the place looking like you, like you had just had too many drinks or something and needed to be removed. So even if you kick and scream, it's not Frankie Fizzled kicking and screaming. Okay. Yeah.
Thomas / Guy:But Frankie needs to also leave with us, who is actually I'm Frankie now.
Tim / GM:Yes.
Hannah / Eryn:Alright. Cool.
John / Doran:And Yep. Tibio and Snack are just dancing like Snack is on
Tim / GM:the clothes. Mhmm. Correct.
John / Doran:Soldiers.
Tim / GM:Yep.
John / Doran:Snack is on Tibio's
Tim / GM:shoulders.
John / Doran:There we go.
Tim / GM:Snack is also wearing fake nails and platform shoes.
Hannah / Eryn:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 5:Gloves, swap. Baby, gloves, swap.
Tim / GM:You guys had met a fire genasi on the way in. You know that Dave is also in the bar, dancing away. You guys have probably seen him on the dance floor. Alright. So we are in, Frankie Fizzle's office.
Tim / GM:Holly had just body swapped him. And now Holly Hyacinth is staring down your group from the other side of the desk. And she's saying I guess Frankie is saying, with Holly's voice and body. What what is going on?
Hannah / Eryn:Don't worry about it. I don't know what he sounds like. Frankie
Tim / GM:is kinda down here. He's kinda, yeah, smooth and
Hannah / Eryn:dark. You don't need to worry about it. Thanks, Tim, for the advice on what Frankie fizzles sounds like.
Speaker 5:You're up early. I walk up to Holly not Holly and do, like, that little shoulder pinch thing, the sleep thing.
Tim / GM:Does that work?
Speaker 5:I don't know. Can I roll for that?
Tim / GM:So would this be a grapple then or what?
Speaker 5:It's the the, like, pressure point thing. Yeah. Yeah. There's gotta be a thing for it.
Tim / GM:And what? Instant KO?
Hannah / Eryn:Martial arts. I'll roll
Speaker 5:and you can tell me what I had.
Thomas / Guy:Monks can do that Yeah. Actually.
Tim / GM:Oh. No.
Speaker 5:It's a D and D thing.
Tim / GM:Yeah. Do you have that ability? You're not a monk. No.
Speaker 5:But I'm but I feel confident in my ability to not get
Tim / GM:So is it is it a pinch or a chop? Okay.
Speaker 5:I've probably tried both
Thomas / Guy:of them.
Tara / Journey:It's a massage.
Tim / GM:Yeah. Yeah. You go up and just press the back of, Holly slash Fizzles neck, and, he just goes,
Speaker 5:ow. What are you doing? Ow. Okay. Then I grapple him.
Speaker 5:Okay.
Tim / GM:Holly, what's your strength?
Hannah / Eryn:Oh, he has my stuff. 14.
Tim / GM:Just your physical attributes. Okay.
Thomas / Guy:Why is your strength so high? I
Tim / GM:don't know.
Speaker 5:Wait. Why does oh, for a modifier. Okay. It's 12. Holly works out.
Tim / GM:So, yeah. You've got you've got Fizzle grappled.
Speaker 5:Oh, okay.
Tim / GM:Fizzle just keeps saying, this is a bad idea. I'm telling you right now.
Hannah / Eryn:I feel like I'm gonna, regret this later, but, oh, can I not cast any spells? Okay.
Tim / GM:You have all your mental stuff, just not your physical.
Tara / Journey:Great.
Hannah / Eryn:I'm gonna cast ray of sickness on myself.
Tim / GM:You cast ray of sickness and, you roll a ranged attack against him. Oh, okay. You're rolling against AC Gotcha. Armor class. Yeah.
Tim / GM:Gotcha. Gotcha.
Thomas / Guy:Oh, sorry.
Tara / Journey:If Holly punches Holly in the face. Yeah. Does Holly get hurt?
John / Doran:Yeah. Yeah.
Hannah / Eryn:Holly's AC is 11.
Tim / GM:Okay. So, yes, it hit. Okay.
Thomas / Guy:D and D.
Speaker 5:If a holly falls in the woods. Yeah.
Tim / GM:And now I roll, the save against the sickness part of it. Yep. And that's a constitution save? Yep. Okay.
Tim / GM:So that would be a 16.
Hannah / Eryn:And that's against
Tim / GM:Your spell save DC. 13. Okay.
Hannah / Eryn:On a hit because though I hit him, but I failed you failed the save. So it's not poison, but I hit him. Okay. 2 d 8. I just wanted to be sick.
Tim / GM:You just hurt him a bunch.
Hannah / Eryn:3 and 6.
Tim / GM:Okay.
Speaker 5:Come on, Holly. You're sick. You're you don't know what you're talking about. We're gonna go. And then I lead him out the door.
Tim / GM:And Fizil's kinda keeled over, like,
Speaker 5:oh, what was that? This feels awful. I know. You had way too much to drink. We we'll get you home.
Thomas / Guy:Let's go. Let's
Hannah / Eryn:go. Yeah. You guys, butter, get out of here. I'll escort you out. Fizzle follows behind.
Hannah / Eryn:Fizzle, aka Holly.
Thomas / Guy:Thanks, Fizz man.
Speaker 5:You should be like, stay out. You're never coming back. Just kick us out forever. Alright.
Thomas / Guy:You're coming yell at us.
Hannah / Eryn:You're coming with me. He, like, grabs, Uli by the back of the neck, and then Uli's holding grappling Fizzles.
Speaker 5:Look at you.
Hannah / Eryn:And Birch just I don't know what you're doing. I'm here too. And, yeah, he's, like, Fizzles, like, pushing them ahead of him and, like, marching them down the hall. And then he, like, takes a wrong turn, and he's, like, nope. This way.
Tim / GM:So you march, Fizzle down the stairs. You guys all step over Ilya's unconscious body, that you had knocked out just a few moments before. And, again, you see the cages with the, the caged, chameleon and the monkeys and the macaws, as you pass by those. And then you can see, Snack and Tibio at the end of the hall kind of dancing and bobbing, but also watching out for your return. Fizzle, who you're holding on to, says that is optimistic.
Tim / GM:I'm sorry. Yeah. We'll just say you can see Snack and Tibia from where you are. But, Holly, Fizzle, whatever you wanna call him, looks up and says, you guys are making a big mistake.
Hannah / Eryn:What makes you say that?
Tim / GM:Why are you here? What are you after?
Hannah / Eryn:Enough talking outside.
Thomas / Guy:Let's get him outside.
John / Doran:Why don't I don't know why I talk like that.
Speaker 5:It's gangster bird.
Tara / Journey:Really really into the character.
Speaker 5:We're going. We're going.
Tim / GM:I'm telling you, you're making a mistake.
Speaker 5:Well, we can determine that for ourselves.
Hannah / Eryn:Let's leave. The mistake was when you crossed me. And, Holly Espizzle is, like, looking over his shoulders, just like, that's right. I'm a big tough boss man. Are we
Speaker 5:we're in the club part now?
Tim / GM:You're just about to enter back into the club at the threshold of that hallway where things are a little quieter than they are out in the club.
Hannah / Eryn:Okay.
Tim / GM:And Fizzle says, no, you're making a mistake. I'm not Frankie Fizzle. You see, Fizzle's face get extremely hairy, and his eyes separate a little bit, and his nostrils get huge, and his arms get so long.
Thomas / Guy:Wait. Who's doing this? And he
Tim / GM:starts growing a tail. This is Holly Yeah. The Holly body, that physalism. And, before you now stands a silverback gorilla.
Thomas / Guy:Was this supposed to happen with that magic glove?
Hannah / Eryn:Definitely not.
Tim / GM:I'd like everyone to roll initiative.
Speaker 5:I got 14. 15.
Tim / GM:To be all.
Tara / Journey:Did I do it? Oh.
John / Doran:12.
Speaker 5:Uli? Dirty 20.
Tim / GM:So I was yeah. So we got our initiative. This silverback gorilla, stares down the 3 of you and, looks back out into the crowd and you see its smirk. Uli, you get to act first. I guess you're still grappled with the silverback gorilla.
Tim / GM:So I'm gonna have you contest that
Thomas / Guy:grapple before anything else
Speaker 5:happens. 17.
Tim / GM:Nat 20. Damn it. Oh.
Speaker 5:1st nat 20. You can go real slow.
Tim / GM:We'll say as the fizzle, as the fizzle, polymorphs in front of you, it just kind of shoves you out with an elbow as its elbow turns into a monkey elbow. Still your turn to go first though, Willy. You're just out of the grapple.
Speaker 5:Yes. What's around me?
Tim / GM:So you guys are in a, hallway about 10 feet wide. And there are a couple, like, curtains or drapes that are blocking up these little private rooms where some people have been chatting and giggling. There's also these cages full of exotic animals.
Speaker 5:Are there any empty cages? Yes. I will pick up an empty cage Okay. And smash the gorilla over the head with an improvised weapon, which I get, proficiency with.
Tim / GM:Beautiful. Nice. Okay.
Speaker 5:And I'm trying not to use my magic. That's a terrible
Thomas / Guy:Oh, no.
Speaker 5:Roll. That's an 11. Bend luck, which means
Hannah / Eryn:15.
Tim / GM:Nice. Okay.
Speaker 5:If it does anything. Did I waste a bend luck?
Tim / GM:Let's see here. No. That does hit.
Hannah / Eryn:Yes. Okay.
Thomas / Guy:Do you
Tim / GM:know what the damage is gonna be on that?
Speaker 5:A d four plus 3.
Tim / GM:Okay.
Speaker 5:Four points Okay. Of damage. Sure. Cage damage.
Tim / GM:Alright. So you you smash this cage over the gorilla's head, and the bottom of it instantly just kind of, like, bursts inward. And so he's got this kind of, tall domed wire cage, that has just smashed over his head now as it, tries to wrestle against you. Bert, it's your turn to act.
Thomas / Guy:Okay. What other what animals we got in here? There's birds? Yeah. There's There's big birds?
Tim / GM:Yes. Large, large birds in large cages.
Thomas / Guy:I'm gonna try to open as many cages as I can.
Tim / GM:Okay. Some of them are pretty high up for you.
Thomas / Guy:Oh, okay. Yeah. I think instead, if this is gonna take my whole action, I want to use the, the Whispering Quell to talk to Tibio.
Tim / GM:Okay.
Speaker 5:He just sits down and
Hannah / Eryn:takes out his bed.
Thomas / Guy:Dear Timio, we're in trouble. Fizz will turn into a gorilla. Please get in the back here with snack ASAP.
Tara / Journey:So I'm
Thomas / Guy:Sincerely, Engelbert f f wishers.
Tara / Journey:So Tibia was still kinda dancing, grooving. He heard some commotion behind him in the hallway, but he wasn't really worried about it. And then the lights kept getting, like, disrupted by the text appearing in front of his eyes. So he was a little bit confused and, like, thought he was just getting a little tired at first and then, it kept coming so he stopped and was like staring like trying to like turn to an area where he could see the text clearly in front
Tim / GM:of his
Speaker 7:eyes. Snick, our friends are in trouble. We must go.
Speaker 8:Lead the way, Tibia. I have I have a hunger for violence tonight.
Speaker 7:I think this is the night for it.
Tim / GM:And, yeah. The 2 of you can can see now that you like, just turning the corner off the dance floor, you can immediately see this this gorilla. It is, Holly. Yeah. Holly's turn.
Thomas / Guy:I wanna hide behind or not hide, but, like, get a cage between me and the gorilla or whatever.
Tim / GM:Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Just not directly in Yeah. Line of sight.
Hannah / Eryn:Okay. So Holly's still this guy. Yeah. Mister Fizz. Are there some, like, Goony guards, security guards, or something standing around?
Tim / GM:Not yet.
Hannah / Eryn:There's no guards in this club?
Tim / GM:Not yet.
Thomas / Guy:Who works there?
Hannah / Eryn:We knocked out a lot of them.
Tim / GM:The one that you knocked out. Oh.
Hannah / Eryn:There's only one guard.
Tim / GM:In this back area.
Hannah / Eryn:Oh, I wanna step out into the open.
Tim / GM:Okay. Yeah. You you step back, into the club, and it's, like, super loud out here. And nobody seems to really have taken notice what's going on in that hallway as there's sort of a magical sound barrier between these two areas. You see, right away, you see the fire genasi from outside.
Tim / GM:He's this ripped, like, shirtless dude, that's got, like, little flames licking off of his eyes.
Hannah / Eryn:Okay. And the the the bouncer, the bartender. Mhmm. Any other workers? The DJ, I'm guessing?
Tim / GM:DJ, there's yeah. There's a group of bards and then just a a lot of patrons. Yeah.
Hannah / Eryn:K. Yeah. I'll go over to the Genasi Mhmm. And be like, hey, I need you to, help with something in the back real quick. 1 of the animals escaped.
Tim / GM:Oh, again?
Hannah / Eryn:Yeah. But this time, you might wanna bring a friend. It's a gorilla.
Tim / GM:He walks up to the bar, and he starts shouting at somebody, and the the pair of them, walk to the back of the the area there. And, yeah. So they they, see the gorilla, and they're what do you want us to do?
Hannah / Eryn:Take him out.
Tim / GM:The, fire Genasi, does, like, a kind of, like, warm up where he keeps, like, rotating his arm, and then you see, like, a little fire bolt start to form in his hand, and then he just whips it at the, at the gorilla, and it pelts into him. It, catches his attention briefly as it singes the gorilla's fur and takes a look down the hallway and sees, his own bouncer, had just assaulted him. The bartender, throws a beer bottle and misses terribly, and it just crashes onto the floor.
Hannah / Eryn:Useless. Holly, can I cast a spell still, or will that take all my turn?
Tim / GM:That's probably your action there.
Thomas / Guy:Okay.
Hannah / Eryn:That's fine.
Tim / GM:Okay. Bert was kinda out of the way. Uli was right up in his face. The gorilla is going to try to grapple you.
Speaker 5:Damn it, man. The 12th.
Tim / GM:11. Okay.
Speaker 5:Oh, wait. What? Yeah.
Tim / GM:So, yeah, goes for, like, a big hug and gets you for a second, and then you just kind of, like, scream out of it and and bust his arms away.
Speaker 5:Oh, he's really good at escaping hugs.
Tim / GM:Yeah. And then, it is going to take the, cage off of its head and whip it at the bartender, which, smashes the bartender.
Hannah / Eryn:Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, bro.
Tim / GM:Smashes the bartender for quite a bit. So the cage just goes, like, sailing across the room making this high pitched whistling noise. And, you hear it just shatter against the bartender, and he goes down, not to get back up. It is, snacks go.
Thomas / Guy:Be Be sure to tip your bar staff.
John / Doran:What's, so Snack comes in on the scene and sees, there is no holly. He just sees gorilla. Yep. A strange man. Yep.
John / Doran:And what what are the biggest creatures?
Tim / GM:Probably the other monkeys that are in cages, more like chimpanzees.
John / Doran:Snek is reveling in the chaos and, has a new ability he wants to try. Okay. So what size of monkey are we talking? Like orangutan or,
Tim / GM:so, I mean, they would be small creatures for sure. Okay.
John / Doran:Yeah. So there's basically gorilla, a bunch of small creatures. Mhmm. So Snack sees the chaos here, and, Gorilla being the largest threat takes note of it. But in the mood for chaos, he decides to, jump jump off of, Tibio's shoulders
Tim / GM:Mhmm.
John / Doran:And, spreads his, cape up wide Mhmm. As if there were wings. And he flies around to the cages and, attempts to open them as he passes by.
Tim / GM:There you go. Yeah. They're not really locked or anything, so you can just unlatch all of them.
John / Doran:He goes for monkeys first. Okay. Saves the birds for last if he gets here. So I I read a bit about how opening, like, doors work. Okay.
John / Doran:And as long as you, like, you can pass and do it as part of your movement, it seems like.
Tim / GM:So Yeah. Why don't you give me, 2 d 4? 5. Okay. You free, 4 monkeys and 1 giant scarlet macaw that is now flapping around the room and squawking at everything.
Speaker 8:Yes.
Tim / GM:And, yeah. The, the monkeys, a few of them, jump on the silverback and are just like harassing it, pulling at its hair and just kind of, I think they might know what the gorilla is, and, they're just kind of pounding away on it. And it's it's definitely distracting. And, the, the bird flies out into the main, bar area and is, sailing above the patrons there.
John / Doran:And And
Tim / GM:a lot of people kind of stop and look at it, and it's causing some degree of chaos out there.
John / Doran:So and and Snack can speak to animals. I don't know if these are actual animals, but he's going to try to use speech Okay. And, say, be free, my brethren.
Speaker 8:Just know that Snack has freed you this day. Revel in the chaos.
John / Doran:As he goes around opening doors.
Tim / GM:So Snack, you've talked to animals before.
Thomas / Guy:Mhmm.
Tim / GM:And when you speak to them, you know, they're they're articulate to the point where you guys can have a conversation. When these things respond to you, it's almost like everything is their second language. And so all you really hear is, we free from some of the chimpanzees as they smash the silverback as best they can.
Speaker 5:Sorry. I like how we started this fight with, 4 people, and now there's, like Yeah. We have brought
Thomas / Guy:2 My plan is to give Kim as many NPCs as possible.
Hannah / Eryn:And he'll just start forgetting abilities. Yeah.
Speaker 5:Make him do specific voices for each one.
Hannah / Eryn:How many club patrons can we get manipulated into fighting? Yeah.
Thomas / Guy:Dear all club patrons.
Tara / Journey:Yes. I made a bunch of friends while I was dancing and they followed me over.
Tim / GM:It's your turn, Tibio.
Thomas / Guy:We came over Tibio.
John / Doran:In a conga line.
Tim / GM:You just get them all to rhythmically punch the silver back.
Tara / Journey:Yeah. I'm going to cast chill touch on the gorilla. I have yet to cast an attack spell that works.
Tim / GM:You made it you made it work once. You hurt somebody with chill
Tara / Journey:touch. 13.
Tim / GM:Okay. So this, ghostly hand, projects from you and, kind of, like, sails right by its ear, kind of like, when you throw a bowling ball and you're almost sure it's gonna hit the last pin, and it just kind of doesn't. Mhmm. Yeah. And it, it slowly phases out as it goes farther away from you.
Tara / Journey:K. Okay. Okay. That's fair.
Tim / GM:Do you wanna, move around or shout or
Tara / Journey:How many cages are there still?
Tim / GM:There's probably another 5 or 6 that are still closed around you guys.
Tara / Journey:I'm gonna try and grab the other ones. Like
Tim / GM:Yeah. Yeah. We had Snack do that as his movement. Yeah. So we'll have you do the same.
Thomas / Guy:K.
Tim / GM:Give me, 2 d 4 as well.
Thomas / Guy:Okay.
Tara / Journey:5. Same exact role.
Tim / GM:So what remained for you were the, the, the rest of the birds and, finally the chameleon that was at the end of the hall, which doesn't do a whole lot except for go on the outside of its cage and turn kind of a brassy color. The birds, however, are sort of forming a little flock, as they all they're like dropping feathers everywhere in this hall and causing just an absolute racket being that this was
Hannah / Eryn:Did they poop on anybody yet?
Tim / GM:Hold on.
Hannah / Eryn:You're gonna roll for that?
Tim / GM:Yes. They pull for
John / Doran:poop in. It's a legendary action.
Tara / Journey:So is the chameleon the last cage that I opened?
Tim / GM:Yes.
Tara / Journey:I'm gonna stand by the cage and help the chameleon down.
Tim / GM:Alright. Yeah. It goes for your arm.
Hannah / Eryn:Do you have a chameleon now?
Thomas / Guy:Yes.
Tim / GM:Yeah. Some of the birds are kinda flying in a circle and they also, kind of fan out into the main band room. And, as you all follow, those birds visually out the room, you see that the bards have taken notice of what's going on in this hallway and all of a sudden they stopped the tune they were playing.
Tara / Journey:Come on Jazz, We agree.
Thomas / Guy:No solo.
John / Doran:Boys. Hey.
Speaker 7:Hey. No one wants
John / Doran:Get off the flute.
Speaker 7:No one wants freeform flute at the club, man.
John / Doran:And then a little Boom. I can't believe this. What was this song we were supposed
Hannah / Eryn:to do? We're doing we're doing haste next.
Speaker 5:Oh, his song. Oh. 5678.
Tim / GM:So for this next round, we just finished the round with Tibio. For this next round at the beginning of each of your turns I want you to roll a d20, on a charisma check. If you roll 15 or higher, you gain the effects of haste for your turn.
Thomas / Guy:Oh. That's good. Right?
Speaker 5:Oh. Like you want to get that?
Tim / GM:Yes.
Speaker 5:Okay. Cool.
Hannah / Eryn:They're pumping up the jams
Tim / GM:for us. Yes. They are. And also at the top of the round, a few, unruly patrons are just kind of upset at at everyone in the hallway for being rowdy and they start throwing glass bottles down the hall. Oh.
Tim / GM:Holly, Ooly, and Snack, are getting glass bottles thrown at them. Holly, is a, 13.
Speaker 7:Damage?
Tim / GM:Nope. 13 to hit you. Does that hit?
Tara / Journey:Yeah. Okay.
Hannah / Eryn:My a c is 11.
Tim / GM:Oh. 6 damage, Holly.
Hannah / Eryn:It's Chris. Okay.
Tim / GM:Oh. Nat nat 20'd. No. Okay. This is fine.
Thomas / Guy:Fine. He invited the chaos.
Tim / GM:Alright. That's 13 bludgeoning damage. As a beer bottle comes sailing across the room.
John / Doran:Did I see this creature that threw
Thomas / Guy:a beer bottle at me?
John / Doran:I can see
Tim / GM:if Yeah. Make she she said, you ruined my birthday. And she throws a beer bottle and it's, about to smash into your head. Or it does, I guess.
John / Doran:Snek is flying right now and, oh, yeah. He gets hit by that bottle. Yeah. And, without thinking too far,
Speaker 8:casts Hellish Rebuke as a reaction.
Tim / GM:Yeah. Okay.
Speaker 8:You ruined my regular normal not birthday day.
John / Doran:They have to make a deck save. Okay.
Thomas / Guy:-Not good. -Normal
Tim / GM:lady. -Yeah. -Decent 15? -8.
John / Doran:-Okay, 2d10 fire
Thomas / Guy:damage. -Oh my god.
Speaker 5:Oh my god.
Tim / GM:7. Okay. So
Thomas / Guy:Probably does it.
Tim / GM:Yeah. Her her outfit, her costume, just kind of like erupts into flames as this little blast goes off, kind of directly on top of her. And, she just kind of like spirals away it screaming, and you can see some of her hair is like singed. No. And she goes
Thomas / Guy:Diltro bottles. It hurts perfect.
Tim / GM:You can hear her, like, screaming with her arms up running out of the club, and she goes, on my birthday.
Hannah / Eryn:Now it smells bad in here.
Tim / GM:It smells like burnt hair for sure.
Tara / Journey:Yeah. I don't imagine it smelled good to begin with.
Tim / GM:Probably not. Yeah. At the top of the round is Uli. Make a charisma check.
Speaker 5:12?
Tim / GM:So you do not gain the effects of haste. Something else does happen to you though, Uli. It was about this time last night that you spoke with The Mirror. Well It has now been about one day. And the, the kind, peppy, happy Uli, abruptly fades from you.
Tim / GM:And you feel a little bit of a jolt as the old grumpy Uli settles back in. At that moment, you also have a wild magic surge.
Tara / Journey:Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're a surgeon.
Tara / Journey:Yeah.
Speaker 5:Part of the cards. Mhmm. Right? Mhmm. I cast grease centered on myself.
John / Doran:Yeah. That's fantastic. This is getting interesting. This is
Thomas / Guy:the way Here we go.
Speaker 5:Grease covers the ground in a 10 foot square centered on me, and it turns into difficult terrain for the duration. When it appears, each creature standing in its area has to succeed a dex save or fall prone.
Thomas / Guy:I think you're by a monkey. Right? Yeah. The monkey?
Speaker 5:A creature that enters the area or end its turn there also has to make a deck save or fall prone. I'm so sorry. Okay.
Tara / Journey:So you This
Thomas / Guy:is great.
Tara / Journey:You're like when your chipper attitude wears off and you just turn it
Thomas / Guy:and it's
Speaker 5:like, oh. Yeah.
Thomas / Guy:Go into ER mode and you just
Speaker 5:It's like a like a physical representation of how my mood Yeah.
Tim / GM:Alright. Yes. So let's have everybody in this room, including the fire genasi and the
John / Doran:Oh, it's that big,
Speaker 5:silverback. And myself.
Tim / GM:Yeah. It takes up the whole hallway.
Hannah / Eryn:Dex save? Dex save?
Tim / GM:Yep. Yikes.
Thomas / Guy:I guess Hey. We rolled the save.
Hannah / Eryn:My
Speaker 5:spell save. Right?
Tim / GM:It must be. Yeah.
Speaker 5:Okay. So my spell save is 14. I rolled a 15, so I'm fine.
Tim / GM:K.
Hannah / Eryn:I rolled 5.
Thomas / Guy:5.
Tara / Journey:9.
John / Doran:I'm fine. Don't even look at me.
Tim / GM:Alright. The, big monkey, pushes its arms up against both sides of the hallway and stabilizes itself before it falls. The fire genasi falls to the ground and you see some sparks and flames licking off of its skin as it hits the ground. And a few of them kind of sizzle and smolder into the grease. But a few of you catch this out of the corner of your eye and you're just watching it like a powder keg.
Speaker 5:I'm sorry.
Tim / GM:Julie, it's your turn.
Thomas / Guy:Julie, what the hell?
Speaker 5:I don't know. I, I don't I don't know. God, I'm so stupid. I mean okay. Can I I cast magic, but I didn't do it intentionally?
Speaker 5:Do you think that might That
Tim / GM:doesn't take your turn. It doesn't take your action. No.
Speaker 5:No. No. I know that
Tara / Journey:for Teledry magic. Teledry.
Speaker 5:I don't have a stamp.
Tim / GM:It doesn't matter that you did it intentionally or not. You cast magic.
Speaker 5:Okay. Yeah. So now that I've already done it
Tim / GM:Yeah. Oh, boy. Yes. The criminal mantra.
Tara / Journey:Yep. In for a penny, in for a pound.
Speaker 5:Yeah. Exactly. I am very upset with myself. I'm humiliated Mhmm. And I cast reduce on myself.
Speaker 5:Oh.
Tim / GM:Oh. Okay. Whatever. You're reduced. You are now a small creature.
Speaker 5:And I'm gonna go hide behind a cage.
Tim / GM:Okay. Yeah. There's, yeah. There's a a cage that's been torn off of its chain that's laying in the greasy ground that you're able to kind of obscure yourself
Thomas / Guy:behind. Is it no cage same cage I'm behind?
Tim / GM:It is. Yeah. So you, tiny Uli just kind of snuggles up next to Bert.
Tara / Journey:Hey, Bert.
Thomas / Guy:Hey, Uli. I'm sorry for yelling at you. It it you know, it happens.
Speaker 5:Yeah. Whatever.
Tara / Journey:Daddy, Harley.
Tim / GM:On that note, it's Okay. So why don't you go ahead and start with a charisma check?
Thomas / Guy:Okay. Natural twenty.
Tim / GM:Hey. Oh. Alright. Bert, you are bursting with ideas.
Speaker 7:Oh. Let
Tim / GM:me read off the effects of haste to you.
Speaker 5:I got this really bad. At least someone does.
Tim / GM:Alright. Alright. Bert, your speed is doubled. You have plus 2 to AC, advantage on dexterity saving throws, and an additional action on your turn.
Thomas / Guy:Woah. That's good. Yeah.
Tim / GM:Alright. This action can only be used to take the attack action, dash, disengage, hide, or use object action. Oh. So not a spell. Not a double spell.
Thomas / Guy:Well, Well, I'm gonna make good on my promise to bring in more NPCs. K. I'm gonna cast healing word on Ilia.
Tim / GM:Okay. Oh,
Speaker 5:yeah. Alright. Thank you.
Thomas / Guy:Don't worry, I'll take care of your sister. I'll take care of everything. She gets a 9 healing.
Tim / GM:Alright. Ilya stands right back up. And, she like you see her kind of, like, flinch on the ground, like, she was still trying to dodge being punched in the first place. And then she stands up, and then she looks at all of you. A lot of you are on prone on the floor right now.
Tim / GM:And, she starts, like, running down the hall and she's like, Uli, what's going on? And she slips in the grease
John / Doran:and falls on her ass.
Speaker 5:I'm sorry.
Tim / GM:What else do you wanna do on your turn, Bert?
Thomas / Guy:Ilya, we got a monkey problem.
Tim / GM:She's kind of, like, standing back up and she's like, I see that.
Thomas / Guy:I mean, do I have is there space to get out of the grease spot at least?
Tim / GM:If you did, you'd either be like on the stairs or back on the dance floor. The hallway is effectively greased.
Thomas / Guy:And the stairs would be, like, further the furthest away from the exit area. Yep. And the fire Genesee
Tim / GM:is
Thomas / Guy:on the dance floor side?
Tim / GM:Yeah. Yep. Closer to the yeah. To that entrance back onto the dance floor. And you can still see that a few of his, sparks and flames.
Thomas / Guy:Can get over there and, like, use my action to start stamping it out? Yeah.
Tim / GM:Yeah.
Thomas / Guy:Of course. Or maybe I have some sort of cloth I can put on it, that would work better.
Tim / GM:Just to snuff the gymnastics? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
Tim / GM:So
Thomas / Guy:Maybe I take off my purple silk purple jacket.
Tim / GM:Nice. Yeah. Yeah. So you see that most of the fire is coming out from, like, his his, like, face and mouth. So you just kinda, like, gently lay it over his face so that it's no longer, like, a fire hazard that's threatening all of you.
Tim / GM:Great.
Thomas / Guy:A
Tim / GM:lot of the you also notice a lot of the patrons have, like, taken notice of your party in the hallway now, that somebody has been, like, set on fire and fled from the club. Next up is Holly. Why don't you start with a Charisma check?
Hannah / Eryn:21.
Tim / GM:Hey. Alright. You have the effects of Haste.
Hannah / Eryn:Haste. So can I stand up?
Tim / GM:Yes.
Hannah / Eryn:Stand up.
Tim / GM:K.
Hannah / Eryn:And then I'm gonna cast my favorite spell, reduce on the gorilla. I'll make him small.
Tara / Journey:Okay. This is the small hallway.
Tim / GM:Yeah. Small
Speaker 5:hallway. Small hallway.
Thomas / Guy:Small hallway. Goddamn it.
Tim / GM:Oh, I think he makes a save on your reduce.
Hannah / Eryn:Yeah. Common save.
Tim / GM:That's a big fail. Woo hoo. Yeah. So now the chimpanzees that were haranguing this thing, are now about the same size as the silverback. And they're just kind of, like, grappling and fighting and smacking each other.
Tim / GM:And now they're like a serious hazard. So this is a very distracted silverback gorilla.
Hannah / Eryn:It lasts one minute.
Tim / GM:Okay. That'll be a while.
Hannah / Eryn:Can I try to move on the grease?
Tim / GM:Yes. It's difficult to train, so it just takes you extra movement. But you're also hasty. But
Thomas / Guy:you have double movement.
Tim / GM:Yeah. So it just levels up to normal. Yeah. Yes. If you can imagine Holly is very, like, super quickly power walking through the grease.
Tim / GM:Just
Thomas / Guy:sliding on the roof.
Hannah / Eryn:Molly's just gonna try to speed skate right past all the monkeys out into the open part of the club and just kind of round the corner of the hallway. Yeah. So she's just not in the direct. Sure.
Speaker 5:Yeah.
Hannah / Eryn:She doesn't wanna be enclosed.
Tim / GM:Definitely. Okay. Next up is Fizzle. So Fizzle is now a small monkey.
Hannah / Eryn:Hey. A small monkey. Is he like the size of a cat?
Tim / GM:No. It's scare scarcely bigger than these other chimpanzees that are, attacking him. So, I mean, he's got them outmatched, but only by a little.
Tara / Journey:He's a monkey sized ape.
Tim / GM:Yes. And and he doesn't like his odds. You see Fizzle start to violently, shake his head again as a monkey. And some of the the chimps get a little, scared of that and back off just a bit. You see Fizzle reach out with one monkey arm and it turns a slightly, kind of greenish hue And it becomes kind of muscular and longer.
Tim / GM:And then the other arm bursts out the same way. And then you see a leg burst out, and it's wearing huge combat boots and leather pants. And then you see the other leg, and it stands up at full height. And Fizzle has copied Ueli's physique.
Tara / Journey:Oh my god.
Speaker 5:I feel
Thomas / Guy:So insulted. Is he still reduced, though?
Tim / GM:No. He stands back to the top.
Thomas / Guy:A regular size Uli Yes. And a little L'luli.
Speaker 7:L'luli. L'luli.
Tim / GM:Yeah. L'luli. So at least you know which one's which.
Tara / Journey:Also, Lillooly is pouting.
Tim / GM:You see, big Ollie stand with a scowl and, is going to turn and actually, Uli is going to jump and kick off of a wall, and is trying to grab snack out of the air.
Speaker 5:You have to specify which Uli you're talking about.
Tara / Journey:Big bad Uli.
Tim / GM:The Uli that I have any agency over.
Speaker 5:But I'm big bad Uli.
Tim / GM:Not right now, you're not.
Thomas / Guy:Ghoulie Ollie.
Hannah / Eryn:Oh my god. Ghoulie
Tim / GM:Shuli. It's gonna be a 10. Oh. Okay. So you all see Uli, imposter Uli kick off of a wall and grab its snacks, cape as he flies by.
Tara / Journey:Fazuli.
Thomas / Guy:A Fazuli. There it is.
Tim / GM:God. He comes, crashing back to the ground. And then, Uli, what would you say is your signature move?
Speaker 5:I don't wanna tell you that.
Thomas / Guy:It's like, the Not neck pinching. Magic missile punch.
Tim / GM:I agree.
John / Doran:Oh, yeah.
Tim / GM:Alright. Willie is going to turn to, Tibio and is going to give you a magic missile pop pop pop to the chin.
Speaker 5:I'm so sorry. Shield.
Tara / Journey:That's a reaction.
Thomas / Guy:It's a good soul.
Tim / GM:Yeah. So, yeah, you see Uli stomping towards you with a a a scowl like you've never seen before on Uli, and then she smirks and whines back with a fist and bam bam bam. But your magic skill is a little above, your own fear. And, so as these fists come near you, you just see this, kind of gray white light radiate out from where it would have impacted, and you just hear a boom, boom, boom, as if she's punching glass that won't break. She huffs and stares at you.
Tim / GM:Next up is snack.
John / Doran:Okay. Do I get the haste save?
Tim / GM:Yes.
John / Doran:Alright. 15.
Tim / GM:You got it. Nice. Yep.
John / Doran:Okay. So I was trying to look up use object. It doesn't specify explicitly about using magic items, but
Thomas / Guy:I I
John / Doran:don't know if so
Tim / GM:Yeah. I would allow it.
John / Doran:You're allowing it? Yeah. Okay. Well, snack notices badly. He he sees the crowd dispersing and is gleeful, but turns back to the the matter at hand and sees, big bad Uli and decides to unload on them.
John / Doran:So first, I'm going to cast, hex. It's a bonus action.
Thomas / Guy:Mhmm.
John / Doran:No save. It just allows me to deal more damage if I hit it.
Tim / GM:Okay.
John / Doran:They have disadvantage on, a check. I'm gonna choose dexterity.
Tim / GM:Okay. Good choice.
John / Doran:So then I'm going to, cast, eldritch blast first off.
Tim / GM:K.
John / Doran:7, 14 to hit. Willie, what's your AC?
Speaker 5:11.
Tim / GM:Alright. That hits. Okay. Sweet.
John / Doran:3, 7, 9 damage from the eldritch blast.
Tim / GM:Okay. Damn.
John / Doran:Then I take out a wand, and I'm going to cast disintegrate upon them.
Speaker 5:Oh my god.
Thomas / Guy:So
Speaker 7:Did you
Tara / Journey:know what you were doing when you gave us haste?
Tim / GM:Okay. So We wild. Forget about the wand.
John / Doran:Tim Tim, guess what what type of save is for disintegrate? No.
Tim / GM:Oh, no. Oh, Synergy.
Speaker 5:What what what type of save
John / Doran:is this?
Tim / GM:It's dexterity, which he just got disadvantage on.
Speaker 5:And if you have is dexterity a physical stat?
Tim / GM:Part of a physical.
Speaker 5:Yeah. It's a plus one.
Tim / GM:Okay.
Speaker 5:It's 13.
Tim / GM:Dang it. Wow. 9.
John / Doran:9? Yeah. I mean, that's a fail, so let's roll some dice. So I guess I'd say
Thomas / Guy:it was me who called snack into this room to make this possible.
Speaker 8:Okay.
Tara / Journey:Alright, Bert. You get the assist. Jesus. Yeah.
Thomas / Guy:Oh, he's not done.
Tara / Journey:So after this, we're gonna have to teach Seth not to murder.
John / Doran:We all get to see who we die. 73 force damage.
Speaker 5:70 fuck.
Hannah / Eryn:Wow. I think that wins is the most damage ever in campaign ever
John / Doran:at once. We've ever gotten to that
Tara / Journey:spell level.
Speaker 5:What the where how how?
Hannah / Eryn:He has a wand that only has a like, a one charge. Right?
Tim / GM:It's got one more after this.
Hannah / Eryn:Okay.
Tara / Journey:So what this tells me is that Tim has been giving us a lot of stuff that we've been using very ineffectively, and John just comboed.
Speaker 5:Yeah. He's been waiting.
Tara / Journey:Like, Tim is relying on us being incompetent.
Tim / GM:The the decks disadvantage thing was key in this.
John / Doran:So how and if it brings the target to 0, they are disintegrated. So
Hannah / Eryn:It's not like
Tim / GM:Oh, crap.
Thomas / Guy:Bert's gonna retract taking credit for that.
Tim / GM:Okay. This takes everyone's attention because this beam is not only the brightest thing in the room, the brightest thing that anyone can see in the other room even with all the flashing lights in the dance floor. The room goes dark except for this beam extending from Snack who's floating above the rest of you and his cape just billows out. And and the only thing you can see is his face and a version of Uli. It hits Uli right in the collarbone.
Tim / GM:And you can see her start to literally disintegrate, to fade away. And you see it all turning to ash. You see her arm completely disappear. It starts to spread out to her rib cage and her legs and she's like trying to run away from being disintegrated. You see this thing polymorph again and it turns into a giant chameleon that takes up most of this hallway and it struggles on the grease for a moment.
Tim / GM:And you can see the disintegration is still chasing its tail and it continues to disintegrate trying to claw its way out of this hallway. And it's just like becoming nothing. It's just ashing away. It makes it out to the dance floor and it finally falls on the ground. It's, a gnome with dark hair wearing a simple, blue button up shirt.
Tim / GM:He's got, like, dark, baggy eyes, and, looks kind of, I guess, a little worse for the wearer. Doesn't look like a person who keeps up much with himself. But they fall to the ground. The disintegration has stopped. You can tell by the blood coming out of their mouth and eyes that they're not long for this world.
Hannah / Eryn:What the fuck?
Speaker 8:I'm sorry. I did it, allies.
Thomas / Guy:Oh, Larry. Crap.
Speaker 5:I was just faced with watching myself disintegrate, and I feel like I'm not doing too hard.
Tim / GM:Yeah. How does that hit you?
Speaker 5:I'm gonna roll a surge.
Thomas / Guy:Yeah. Good idea. Grease again.
Hannah / Eryn:Double Grease.
Thomas / Guy:Just silence and then
Hannah / Eryn:Grease too is bad.
Tim / GM:You all hear from the back of the hallway, ooey. As Ilya comes charging down. Oh, right. She doesn't fall in the grease this time. Okay.
Speaker 5:Oh, that's useful. For the next minute, I can see any invisible creature. I have a line of sight
Tim / GM:to. Uli, you your your head is kind of spinning with what you just saw, and all of a sudden your vision just goes like, vaporwave, where everything just kind of turns like pink and purple, and you can see the outline of magical things.
Speaker 5:It's like a little bit shifty. Yeah. So I feel fucked up. And then my sister goes screaming past me.
Tim / GM:Yeah. Ilia realizes that, it wasn't Uli that had fallen and sees this gnome, who's just kind of, slowly crawling on the ground.
Speaker 5:Also, reduce was concentration, so I'm normal sized again.
Tim / GM:Okay.
Thomas / Guy:Is the gnome Fizzle? Did the Fizzle we saw earlier?
Tim / GM:It doesn't look like that person at all.
Hannah / Eryn:Is Holly still Fizzle, the guy we met in the Yep. Office? Okay. Alright everybody. Clear out of here.
Hannah / Eryn:And then, like, kind of gesture to is the Genasi or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. And then, like, kinda be, like Yeah. Let's get him out.
Tim / GM:He pulls the silk suit off of his face and stands up, from the grease. And, he kind of like looks around and just says, what? What happened?
Hannah / Eryn:Just get everybody out.
Tim / GM:You got it, boss. And, he says, everybody's out of here. And he starts making little sparks with his fingers, and, he shoots up like a mini flare, and he said, you heard me, everybody out. And, the bar starts to clear.
Thomas / Guy:Uli, we gotta get out of here. Can you can you grab that guy? Grab that gnome?
Speaker 5:Yeah. I'm gonna grab that gnome and my sister and be like, hey, I'm still alive.
Tim / GM:Yeah. Ilya is just, like, looking at you with, like, wide open eyes and you can hear her breathing is super shallow.
Speaker 5:It's me. And I'll I'll make a gesture that means, like, hey, this is me.
Tim / GM:Like Sure. In you.
Thomas / Guy:I'll I'll
Speaker 5:maybe I'll do the the ear symbol
Tim / GM:thing.
Speaker 5:Yeah. Like, so that she knows.
Tim / GM:She just, nods.
Speaker 5:Just come back with us.
Tara / Journey:Tibio is very scared.
Speaker 8:Did you see Tibio? Snack is flying around Tibio. I shot an eldritch blast and
Thomas / Guy:then poof.
Tara / Journey:Tibio is like,
Speaker 8:That fell into pieces.
Tara / Journey:I can't believe that. Trying to trying to, like, hide from Snack.
Thomas / Guy:Mhmm.
Hannah / Eryn:Okay, guys. Out. Out. And, Holly walks up behind Tibia on Snack and, grabs each of them with his arms and is like, it's it's me, Holly. Okay.
Hannah / Eryn:Let's go. Out. Out. They're trying she's probably basically, she's trying to get everyone out as quick as possible to, like, leave the scene because also a bunch of people did magic, and she's worried about the police coming.
Tim / GM:Yeah.
Speaker 5:And you're not gonna be fizzled for very long.
Hannah / Eryn:Yeah. Like, get out, guys. Let's go.
Tara / Journey:Tibeo kinda stumbles outside. And when he gets out there, he, falls against the wall and is sick.
Tim / GM:Okay. You can see Margo Bingo is still in the alleyway across the street, and she's just kind of peeking over a couple barrels. She sees, big air quotes fizzle, step out onto the street, with the rest of your party and being amiable. And, she kind of, like, like, smirks and starts walking over towards your party.
Hannah / Eryn:I'm like, this way. And make a beeline right to Margo with hopefully, everyone just follows Yeah. Behind.
Tim / GM:So you I assume you got this unconscious gnome with you.
Speaker 5:Yeah. I'm I'm holding.
Tim / GM:The, fire genasi stops you as you leave the bar, Holly, and says, what is going on?
Hannah / Eryn:I need you to go back in and, get the animals locked back up quick before they escape. Just do it. Okay.
Tim / GM:And, he goes back inside. So in the alleyway.
Speaker 5:I think we probably need to hide out for a while. A lot of us did a lot of things that we weren't supposed to do.
Tim / GM:Margo says, what's who is this gnome?
Speaker 5:This is who we all thought Fizel was. No. We shouldn't talk here. Margo, quick.
Thomas / Guy:We need to
Hannah / Eryn:get out
Speaker 5:of here.
Tim / GM:Fair enough. To the guild house then.
Speaker 5:Let's go. Can can they Is
Thomas / Guy:this guy gonna make it? Wait. I'll do a medicine check. Yeah. It's like, 14 or 15.
Tim / GM:Yeah. You can tell that it's in the in the phase of unconscious and dying.
Thomas / Guy:I'll I'll cast another healing word on.
Tim / GM:Okay. Quit healing bosses.
Hannah / Eryn:Why are you always healing these bosses up?
Thomas / Guy:5.
Tim / GM:Okay. It, coughs and sputters and, a little bit of its vitality is restored enough to kind of fight against you.
Speaker 8:Bert, tibio is sick as well, it seems. Can you perhaps heal him?
Thomas / Guy:Let me do a message check. That's like 18.
Tara / Journey:Tibia is uninjured but crying silently, just like,
Speaker 8:His eyes are leaking. I don't know what affliction this is.
Thomas / Guy:I don't think there's anything I can do for him right now, but let's just let's just go. We'll give him some some space.
Speaker 7:Can we just go back? I just want to go back.
Speaker 5:As as we're walking, I'm gonna, like, nudge Tibia with my arm and, nod down to the tankard. You should use that. I'm serious. Just for now.
Tara / Journey:I, I take it, but I don't use it. I think Tibio is very earnestly upset at the, like, violence, the, like, level of violence that we experienced here. I think that he is so certain of his convictions that he doesn't wanna take that feeling away even if it's
Tim / GM:awful. Mhmm. Okay.
Thomas / Guy:I wanna pull snack aside as we're walking.
Speaker 8:But did you see we did wonderful? We were heroes. Yes.
Thomas / Guy:I I saw, mister Snack. Listen. Yeah. You did a good job, but, you need to lay low for a bit. Celebrate later.
Thomas / Guy:Can you do that for me?
Speaker 8:Yes. Tonight we shall celebrate.
Thomas / Guy:No. Later.
Speaker 8:Okay.
Thomas / Guy:We just need to play it cool for now.
Speaker 8:Yes. Thank you, Bert.
Thomas / Guy:You got it.
Speaker 8:Please write about this, though.
Thomas / Guy:Oh, I will.
Tim / GM:You all show up to the guild house and, set down this gnome in a large recliner chair.
Thomas / Guy:I was gonna ask earlier, but do do I recognize the snow?
Tara / Journey:You don't. Do I recognize the snow? No.
Tim / GM:No. It's descriptively, it looks a little bit like Tibio. But, it's a very, like, sullen and, almost emaciated version of Tibio. Sorry. I don't mean to make make it sound like it's anything like you really.
Tim / GM:It's just a gnome. Okay.
Hannah / Eryn:Is Holly still
Tim / GM:this It's about worn off by the time you get to the golem
Thomas / Guy:house. Yeah.
Hannah / Eryn:She's, like, fading, but she's still, like, I'm a tough guy. And she's, like, gonna put a hand on him pinned against the chair.
Speaker 7:Who are you?
Hannah / Eryn:Tell me everything you know.
Thomas / Guy:Oh, that was good. Yeah.
Hannah / Eryn:Damn it. I lost it. Still, tell me everything you know.
Tim / GM:I don't have to tell you anything.
Hannah / Eryn:I'm gonna try to intimidate him. Okay. I don't know how this works.
Speaker 5:But behind Holly, I'm actually intimidating.
Tim / GM:Yeah. Raul intimidation. So it's just a skill that you have.
Hannah / Eryn:30 20, baby.
Tim / GM:Nice. Okay. So, it kind of, shrinks back in its chair. It says, I'm not Frankie Fizzle.
Hannah / Eryn:Well, yeah. That's obvious. Well, who the heck are you? And how do you know Frankie?
Tim / GM:Frankie's dead. He's been dead a while.
Thomas / Guy:I knew it. So you're just some sort of imposter, some usurper to the Fizzle throne?
Tim / GM:Not quite. Fizzle being taken out was, more of a convenience than anything. Just helped Tonberry put the right people in the right places.
Hannah / Eryn:Tonberry.
Thomas / Guy:God, I hate that guy or woman.
Hannah / Eryn:That's the judge. Right?
Tim / GM:That's the judge. A male judge. Yeah.
Thomas / Guy:I hate that guy.
Speaker 5:Judge Flynn is the lady. Yes.
Hannah / Eryn:That's true. So you work for Tonberry then,
Tim / GM:That's right. What are you doing? Keeping up appearances.
Hannah / Eryn:With the potions?
Tim / GM:He nods. He, extends a hand to you, Holly. And, like, you can see he's just like a dirty gnome. Like Gross. He's like a greasy dirty gnome.
Tim / GM:It has nothing to do with the Grease spell at all. But he extends the hand, and he says, the name's Jinx, polymorph Savant.
Hannah / Eryn:Polymorph. Holly takes a step back, and she bumps into Uli, who is right behind her, and she doesn't realize it. So she's kind of, like, taking that in for a minute.
Speaker 5:I pat your shoulders awkwardly.
Speaker 8:You are our prisoner now, and we will take you to the farm where we keep all of our prisoners.
Tim / GM:He he he his eyes like flicker every time Snack talks and he like like inches away from him a little bit.
John / Doran:And I'm, yeah, like fumbling at my sick looking sick looking knife and I pull it out.
Tim / GM:Yeah. And he he again just kind of like shrinks down and like holds one hand up.
Thomas / Guy:Hey, yeah. If you don't cooperate us, we'll show you what mister Snack can really do.
Hannah / Eryn:Wait. If you're a polymorpher, can you undo a polymorph?
Tim / GM:Maybe.
Hannah / Eryn:Do you know this polymorph? And Holly pulls out the Bendo purse clear bag that's got a chameleon strapped to her back.
Tim / GM:He, he holds out a hand for the chameleon to climb onto, but it doesn't. And, he kind of puts his hand back and he says, chameleons are complicated, and that color shifting is not easy to pull off. I'm one of the few who can actually make them.
Hannah / Eryn:How long have you been working in this town?
Tim / GM:Quite a while.
Hannah / Eryn:Holly, grabs him by the shirt, and she's, like, angry. And she's, like, you are gonna undo what you've done to my sister. And she's, like, right now.
Tim / GM:He, he kinda he's, like, laughing at first as, as he's being shook, and then you, like, really start to shake him. And then he kinda, like, his eyes go wide and he says
Hannah / Eryn:Polly's shaking him, and she starts to cry because she's so angry and, like, mad and upset and sad.
Tim / GM:He says, listen, listen, I don't remember what she looked like. I can't change her back.
Hannah / Eryn:What she looked like? You need to fix this. How do you undo it?
Tim / GM:It's already set in. It's not my problem.
Hannah / Eryn:Set in? What does that mean?
Tim / GM:It means I did a damn good job.
Hannah / Eryn:Holly is, like, on the verge of choking him now. She's, like, so, like, enraged.
Tim / GM:Margo steps in and kind of pulls him away from you and says, Holly, Holly, we'll fix this, but not right now.
Hannah / Eryn:Holly's just, like, okay.
Tara / Journey:Tibia was a wreck, but also comes to, like, grab Holly and take her to the where are we?
Tim / GM:In the Guild House. The Guild House. Okay.
Hannah / Eryn:It's like a clubhouse.
Tara / Journey:We're I'm gonna take you to the corner where there's beverages.
Tim / GM:Sure. Yeah. There's always a cake.
Tara / Journey:Yeah. So I take you over there and, I give you some hot tea.
Hannah / Eryn:Holly takes a sip, and then she's like, here for you. Gives you tea as well. Right. We're all just a mess.
Tara / Journey:Just crying.
John / Doran:I've seen a a cup of tea back and
Hannah / Eryn:forth. Yeah.
Thomas / Guy:Is Andre Holly's sister Oh, my
Speaker 5:that. Yeah, that's kinda what I figured. Right?
Thomas / Guy:That's a hell of a twist?
Speaker 5:Yeah. That's really messed up. I mean, I know I have family problems.
Thomas / Guy:I mean, that's sad, but it's great color for my story.
Tara / Journey:So while while we're sitting in the corner, that chameleon that I freed Mhmm. I'm assuming it didn't make it very far off of
Tim / GM:It's it's still attached.
Tara / Journey:Yeah. I, like, bring it forward and kind of put it near Henri.
Hannah / Eryn:Henri is eating a biscuit.
Tim / GM:It starts eating the other end of the biscuit.
Speaker 5:Sits lady in the chair.
Tim / GM:And it turns, I guess it's a it's a red oak table. So it it turns red oak color.
Thomas / Guy:Wait a minute. Jinx, were all those animals back at the club? Were those non animals?
Tim / GM:I've been busy. What can I say?
Thomas / Guy:What? What? You gotta you gotta change them back. You gotta change Holly's sister here back. You gotta change them all back.
Tim / GM:You got it all wrong. It's not a, you know, bibbity bobbity boo kinda thing. It's polymorph. It's a one way street. They're changed.
Tim / GM:That's what they are now.
Thomas / Guy:There might be, there might be someone at the librarian who knows more about polymorphs than this asshole.
Tim / GM:He kinda, like, pops up and he says, nope.
Speaker 5:You're inconsequential. I turned to Ilya and I go, did you know? Did you know about this? Did you know that wasn't Fizzle?
Tim / GM:She kind of, like, turns you away from the rest of the group. And she says, I mean, I knew Tonberry was disappearing people.
Speaker 5:Why did you get tied up into this?
Tim / GM:I I just wanted to be a mercenary, and the contract was high pay. Didn't it said I was working for the city. I don't know what I'm gonna do. I have to report to Tonberry tomorrow.
Speaker 5:Does he have ways of knowing things?
Tim / GM:He knows a lot. It's like he can see into the future.
Thomas / Guy:Uli, if I can, I don't I don't know if this is something we can use to our advantage at all, but a whole lot of people in that club saw you get disintegrated? Oh, you're right. No one saw Fizzle die. Tom Berry is gonna know that the fake Fizzle's out of commission, but there's no witnesses really. The only witnesses was to you.
Thomas / Guy:Well, your sister could could, you know, feed him some false information, if if you're willing, that is.
Tim / GM:I wanna be on the right side of this. I do. But there's something weird about Tonberry. Like I said, he just he just knows what's up.
Thomas / Guy:Asking asking you to go against him is a pretty big ask. He's very powerful, and seems like everyone in this whole damn town is working for him.
Hannah / Eryn:Then we
Speaker 7:must go to an even higher authority than the courts. This is enough. This is enough. We almost killed this norm. We almost killed him.
Speaker 7:We need to talk to someone. This is more than we can do. This is not okay.
Tim / GM:Jinx Jinx kinda gets up over the recliner and, is, like, on a kind of backwards looking at you, Tibio. And he says, you didn't almost kill me. You have no chance.
John / Doran:Snack holds up his wand from behind the
Tim / GM:He, like, shrinks immediately behind the recliner and he goes,
John / Doran:Yeah. That's right.
Hannah / Eryn:Alright. Enough of this. Can you polymorph from a drawing?
Tim / GM:I can try, but, you know, it's gonna might not be exactly like you remembered. I don't wanna know what the back of them looks like.
Hannah / Eryn:How does it work? How can you how can you bring my sister back?
Tim / GM:Listen, it's like I said, she's just a chameleon now.
Hannah / Eryn:Well, you changed back.
Tim / GM:Right. And
Hannah / Eryn:you were unconscious when you did it.
Tim / GM:But that's because I didn't finish the spell. You see, if I can concentrate on a polymorph for as long as an hour, then it's permanent.
Hannah / Eryn:But there's gotta be a way to undo it.
Tim / GM:He kinda shrugs, and he says, you got anything to eat? Snack? Please.
Speaker 8:What?
Hannah / Eryn:I need you to take care of him, but don't kill him yet.
John / Doran:Snack looks, back and forth between Bert and Holly.
Speaker 7:Holly, this is wrong. This is not the way to find
Hannah / Eryn:not now, Tibia. Snack?
Tim / GM:Yes. Okay. What is this? You know I work for Tonberry. Right?
Tim / GM:I disappear. You're all dead.
Hannah / Eryn:Holly just nods at Snack and be, like, we need the information or I'm gonna let him loose on you.
John / Doran:So Snack, takes out a rope and starts walking around him and loosely throwing the rope around him.
Thomas / Guy:Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Let me try something first.
John / Doran:It's next stops.
Thomas / Guy:I'm gonna use my other divine thing I always forget the name of. Okay.
Speaker 5:Yeah. Intervention?
Tim / GM:No. It's
Thomas / Guy:My Attribute? I'm gonna use my second god point. Yeah.
Tim / GM:What the hell is that called?
Speaker 5:You're a clerk?
Thomas / Guy:Yeah. Anyway, I'm gonna read his mind.
Tim / GM:Okay. Oh, yeah. That's right. Yeah.
Speaker 5:Is it Channel Divinity? Channel Divinity.
Thomas / Guy:Channel Divinity.
Speaker 5:Yes. That's the one.
Tara / Journey:Goddamn it. God point.
Thomas / Guy:They are making a wisdom saving throw.
Tim / GM:Okay. 6.
Hannah / Eryn:Oh.
Thomas / Guy:Great. Okay.
Hannah / Eryn:He's a dungus.
Tim / GM:Alright. So you kind of, clue into his, mental stream of consciousness and you you get a mix of fear and cockiness where, he he still has this undying urge to antagonize you. He knows he could die in the moment, but he knows that if he gets out of here, he's gonna tell Tonberry all about you, and things are gonna be fine for him and awful for you.
Thomas / Guy:Yeah. Is there any sense I can get if he's telling the truth about polymorph?
Tim / GM:He is telling the truth about polymorph. Polymorphs that have been concentrated on for a full hour become permanent.
John / Doran:Okay.
Hannah / Eryn:Bert, can you can you get him to undo it?
Thomas / Guy:I don't think so, Holly. I think he's telling
John / Doran:the truth.
Hannah / Eryn:Is there another spell he knows? Something?
Thomas / Guy:I don't think there's any way he can reverse it, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. We've seen the curse breakers do things that you wouldn't think people are able to do.
Speaker 5:Well, I hate to say it,
Hannah / Eryn:you guys, but but if he can't help us, he's a liability.
Thomas / Guy:I don't think we can let him go back to Tom Barry.
Speaker 5:But we don't have to, like, kill him.
Speaker 8:We have a Why not?
Speaker 5:Because
Speaker 7:Meadow is wrong.
Speaker 5:I don't think Yeah.
Hannah / Eryn:He's basically murdered a whole bunch of people by permanently making them animals. So, yeah, we should take care of this criminal. It is wrong. Alright.
Speaker 7:That would make us as bad as him.
Hannah / Eryn:No. Justice.
Speaker 5:I'm very uncomfortable with the debate.
Thomas / Guy:Hey, Jinx. If you don't want us to kill you, I would suggest you tell us everyone you know who's working for Tom Berry.
Tim / GM:Fair enough. Alright. We could never get Malboro, that was the hard part. He's a big softie, but he's also kind of a righteous holdout. That was a huge disappointment.
Tim / GM:He's the real representative of the people.
John / Doran:Snack is deflated and goes over to eat snacks.
Thomas / Guy:This is good.
John / Doran:Or cookies.
Tim / GM:Yeah. Malboro, we couldn't get, but Judge Flan, she was all for it. And, I mean there's any number of, you know, like law mages and city officials that we've got kind of, on payroll. Makes things pretty easy, pretty sweet. We have occasional contact with this fella named Joe McMillan.
Tim / GM:He supplies us with a lot of our dirty deeds and, a lot of high profit items as well. Tons of magic items coming in from that guy. Distribute them all through the city.
Thomas / Guy:When was the last time Joe was in town?
Tim / GM:Like, a couple months ago he made a trip out here and then he said he was headed back for lamplight. But, Judge Flan, yeah, she's a real hothead, if you know what I mean.
Thomas / Guy:Like that guy back at the bar?
Tim / GM:She's not a genasi, but, she's one of the most prolific fire mages we've ever seen.
Thomas / Guy:Oh, well, this is very helpful. What do you say, gang?
Hannah / Eryn:Can we take care of him now?
Speaker 8:No. I still think we should kill him. Yes.
Speaker 5:Margo, what do you think?
Tim / GM:Well, if you're all done voicing what needs to be voiced, I'll take care of him myself.
Hannah / Eryn:No. Thanks, Margo.
Speaker 7:No. He needs
Hannah / Eryn:to tell us who he changed. Listen.
Speaker 7:We need to tell the families of other people who were changed.
Speaker 5:I agree.
Tim / GM:You said you hear kind of in the distance. There is some farm girl a few weeks ago. Oh, there's a southern gnome fella. It looked a lot like that guy.
Thomas / Guy:Yeah.
Tim / GM:And I don't know, like, 2 dozen others.
Thomas / Guy:Does the name Brax Minnow mean anything to you?
Tim / GM:No. Doesn't mean anything to you.
Thomas / Guy:That checks out, I guess. You probably don't, like, get their life stories before turning them into monkeys.
Hannah / Eryn:Margo, what are you gonna do with him?
Tim / GM:We're going to take him out of commission. He'll never hurt anyone again.
Hannah / Eryn:By killing him?
Thomas / Guy:We we're gonna need this without the euphemisms.
Tim / GM:Absolutely. I was just waiting for a dramatic entrance. And there he is. She turns around and you see a, tiny shirtless gnome walking into the room with a big white beard. And he says, good evening, everybody.
Tim / GM:How are we feeling?
Thomas / Guy:Good.
Speaker 5:Yeah. Not so good.
Tim / GM:Okay, mixed response.
Thomas / Guy:Sorry, just happy to see a fellow Quill enthusiast.
Tim / GM:Engelbert Weischerspoon.
Thomas / Guy:How's it been? You see those new q300?
Tim / GM:Fantastic model.
Thomas / Guy:Great stuff.
Tim / GM:Listen, we'll chat more. I've, I've got someone's life to ruin here. And he grins wide.
Thomas / Guy:Ruin away, my friend.
Tim / GM:He, looks up at Margo, and they have a a quick conversation where she, reiterates that this is Frankie Fizzle, or who they thought was Frankie Fizzle, has been an imposter, polymorphed, for a long time now, has become a fixture in the the strategic runnings of Tildrey. He is preparing his quills on a table and is mixing a few inks together, and he said, I'm gonna need somebody to hold him down. It's gonna look a lot like torture. It's not really. It's just a tattoo, but he's gonna hate it.
John / Doran:Snack is yeah. Snack is at the side of the guy.
Speaker 5:Yeah. And,
Tim / GM:Jinx is going, listen. You don't know what I can probably morph into. I've I've got boundless magic.
Speaker 5:Yeah. You don't look very powerful.
Tim / GM:There's a lot you can do when you got friends in the right places.
Speaker 5:Oh, so someone gave you your powers.
Tim / GM:Every day. Get off of me.
Speaker 5:The fountain. The fountain.
Thomas / Guy:The fountain?
Tim / GM:I didn't say anything about anything.
Speaker 5:You didn't have to.
Hannah / Eryn:Holly, like, turns away and starts pacing. There's a big window that overlooks the water. Yeah. And she's just pacing in front of it, and she can see the librarian from where she's standing. It's nighttime still.
Hannah / Eryn:Right? Like, middle of
Speaker 8:the night?
Hannah / Eryn:Yeah. Are there, like, lights and stuff?
Tim / GM:You can see this blue glow from, like, the the 21st floor where the fountain
Thomas / Guy:lies.
Hannah / Eryn:Yeah. She's just like, we gotta get there. Because she now thinks that, it'll help her sister.
Tim / GM:He's pinned on the ground by Uly and Snack. And
Tara / Journey:Toyo puts his skeleton arms above the gnome and says, Whit,
Speaker 7:promise me you will not kill him.
Tim / GM:No. Oh, no. I'm not gonna kill him. He's just gonna be really bored for the rest of his life. It's gonna be great.
Speaker 7:And he won't be able to harm anyone?
Tim / GM:Well, not as much as he does now. Come here. I don't want you to think we're doing something wrong here.
Speaker 7:Okay.
Tim / GM:And he, mixes 2 inks together and he says, you see these? These usually are, used to connect people to the weave. It helps their magic. You see this? It has a way of, let's say, inverting what other inks can do.
Tim / GM:We're gonna cut this guy off for the rest of his life. No more magic. Not ever.
Speaker 5:Okay.
Tim / GM:You dig?
Speaker 7:I dig.
Thomas / Guy:There's still the issue of him going back to Tom Berry and telling him where we are and who we are and what we did and other activities.
Tim / GM:Right. And that's something that we're going to have to deal with ourselves. I don't know how much I trust the prisons. There are some investigators I do trust. One by the name of Muldrif, who's okay.
Speaker 7:Oh, we know Henry.
Speaker 5:We know him.
Tim / GM:Right. He's, about as interesting as a sack of flour, but he's a good man.
Speaker 7:Depends upon the sack of flour.
Tim / GM:Benjamin Blanc looks at you again, Tibia and says, we're about to begin. He's probably not gonna like this because I do have to pierce his skin, but, I think it needs to be done. What do you think?
Speaker 7:I think that this is a fitting punishment for his crimes.
Speaker 5:And tattoos don't hurt that much.
Tim / GM:There's an optional procedure we could go under as well. This one would just kinda slow him down.
Thomas / Guy:Again, is this a euphemism?
Speaker 7:I think him not being able to use the magic that has hurt so many people makes sense. I think anything beyond that is something that we do not have any right to decide.
Tim / GM:He, he's holding this, like, kind of sludge colored ink. It's like a brownish with yellow swirls. And he says, alright. Fair enough. You're, you're a very forgiving gnome.
Tim / GM:And he puts it back. He says, me? Not so much. And he goes to administer this tattoo, which is in a blood red ink that shows up violet in some places. And, he says, hold him steady.
Tim / GM:He's not gonna like this. And, he all all it is is a simple circle with a big slash through
Hannah / Eryn:it. No.
Tim / GM:And, Jinx resists at first, but you quickly find out that he's bluffing and he's out of magic, and there's nothing he can do about it. And, when he stands back up, he, like, throws up a hand at you guys as if to cast something. And he goes, unbelievable.
Speaker 5:Sucks to be you.
Tim / GM:He says, what? Now you're gonna rough me up or what?
John / Doran:I throw the hot rock at him.
Tim / GM:He takes one bludgeon damage. There's like a tiny trickle of blood off of his forehead. And he goes, okay, okay. You don't have to stone me to death, you savages. And he's like, I'm leaving now.
Thomas / Guy:No. No. I don't think so.
Speaker 5:I know a nice farm you could work on forever.
Tim / GM:Margo says, no. Let him leave. Trust me. He won't get far.
Thomas / Guy:What? He won't get what what do you mean?
Tim / GM:You can see, you all kinda look towards the the front door, and you can see Henry kind of, like, poke his head in the window and just kinda look at Margo. And he's like, now? And then she kinda shakes her head. And she's like, just give it a sec.
Thomas / Guy:Oh. Alright. I guess we can trust him with Henry.
Speaker 8:I suppose that is a kind of torture that is acceptable.
Speaker 7:We must we must fix this. We must do something to
Hannah / Eryn:We must get to the fountain as soon as possible. But I think first, we need to go and plan.
Speaker 8:Holly, I must share something with you. You know how I promised you I would a wish.
Tara / Journey:Mhmm.
Speaker 8:Should you create the scale armor for me Mhmm. I will give you a wish. An ally of mine, Jeanie, he, I'm sorry for the deception, Bert. I am not much interested in books after all.
Speaker 5:What? Well,
John / Doran:I look around and, kinda scamper off away from, Margo Bingo, and try to speak to
Speaker 8:Holly. Ginny seeks this fountain, and I believe it shall make him powerful. And if anyone could wield the ability to undo this polymorph as as it is called, genie might. If we can get Genie this power, he will help us.
Hannah / Eryn:I think the fountain's magic can heal my sister and change her back.
Speaker 8:Yes. That's what that is what I think shall happen. I get a wish from Genie, and we use it to return your sister.
Hannah / Eryn:We'll see when we get there.
Speaker 7:But I don't think that you should go on trial with 2 corrupt judges.
Thomas / Guy:I don't know how much choice I have, but, Tibio, you said you wanted to be my lawyer or a detective. Right?
Speaker 7:Either or both, but I think that we should go to judge Malborough.
Thomas / Guy:Oh, that's a good idea.
Speaker 7:If he is far from people like Jinx said, then we need to we need to go to him, and he needs to fix fix Tirthrey so that no others are harmed the way that her sister was harmed and the way that Samantha and Rex were harmed.
Thomas / Guy:Yeah. That's right. Marlborough is maybe the only one in or the highest ranking person in town we can trust. But I got something else on my mind tonight. You might have blown my case wide open because I think those animals back at the club were the people I'm going to be on trial for killing if my assumptions are correct.
Speaker 7:Should we bring Jinx to the judge to tell him that these people are not dead?
Thomas / Guy:Jinx could be a powerful witness.
Hannah / Eryn:Listen, I don't think a lot's gonna get done tonight. We need a plan, we need to rest up, and we need to figure out our next steps.
Tim / GM:At one point, during this conversation, Jinx kinda, like, slinks off, like he pretends he's being, like, unnoticed or something. And, like, even if you guys do see him, you've all seen Henry just right outside. And, you hear this muffled, like,
Thomas / Guy:excuse me.
Tim / GM:You're, under arrest. And you hear this, no. I'm not. You can't do anything to me. And you hear bug loop.
Tim / GM:And, you see this iridescent bubble kind of floating, and he says, come with me.
Speaker 5:Those bubbles can hold people, but they pop when they get hit by bugs. Yep. Cheese.
Tara / Journey:Henry is nothing if not inconsistent.
Thomas / Guy:Ilya, I might need you to do us a favor. Do me a favor.
Tim / GM:She nods.
Thomas / Guy:Do you think you can go back to the club and round up those animals, make sure none of them have escaped?
Tim / GM:I can I can try? Yeah. Yeah. Of course.
Hannah / Eryn:Ilya, I think you need to do us one better. We need you on the inside. We need you to protect those animals until we can figure out how to undo the polymorph.
Tim / GM:Yeah. She kinda runs her fingers through her hair and
Thomas / Guy:she says
Hannah / Eryn:Just pretend you're gonna lead the club now. Take over, and then we'll come back once we figure out more.
Tim / GM:This is gonna get messy, but,
Speaker 5:You got this.
Tim / GM:I wanna be on the right side of this.
Speaker 7:This is your chance.
Tim / GM:Yeah. She says nothing else and, nods again and leaves.
Thomas / Guy:And Holly snack, I can take you to see that fountain, I guess, tomorrow is if if that works for you.
Speaker 8:I will be careful, Bert, to not cause a scene as we have as of late.
Thomas / Guy:That would be good. I can't promise it'll bring your sister back, Holly, but I think it could be the right step.
Speaker 5:I wanted to pull Tibio off to the side and pull out the feather I kept from last session when I was sharing feelings with snack.
Thomas / Guy:Okay.
Speaker 5:And I want to hand it to Tibia and go, I am proud to call you my friend because you have a strong moral compass.
Tara / Journey:And I take the feather
Hannah / Eryn:and I
Speaker 7:say, I'm I'm glad that you are with us and you are strong in more ways than 1.
Speaker 5:Aw. And I give a very awkward hug.
Tara / Journey:Hug the skelly. It's very pointy.
Speaker 5:It's all bones.
Tim / GM:And, Timmyo, you can tell by the way that Uli is struggling through this that she's under no enchantment. This is coming from the Uli that you know.
Thomas / Guy:Mhmm.
Tim / GM:Thanks so much for listening. I'm Tim, your DM and your genie.
Hannah / Eryn:I'm Hannah playing Holly Hyacinth.
Thomas / Guy:I'm Thomas. I play Engelbert FF Wisherspoon.
Tara / Journey:I'm Tara, and I play Tibio Femur.
John / Doran:I'm John. I play Snack the Cobalt.
Speaker 5:And I'm Maggie playing
Thomas / Guy:Uli.
